Man, must have been pretty special to see this concert live! How can you not love these two. Honest, god given talent. And we have all been so lucky to enjoy their ever lasting music.
I just love the smile on Carol Kings face when she sings with James. People don't know that she was was really shy when younger. James Taylor coaxed her onto the stage. Otherwise she might be just a songwriter and not the beautiful performer she is.
I love this song. I picked up a little insight from Wikipedia that I want to pass along: You've Got a Friend" was written by Carole King during the January 1971 recording sessions for her own album Tapestry, and James Taylor's album Mud Slide Slim. King has stated that "the song was as close to pure inspiration as I've ever experienced. The song wrote itself. It was written by something outside myself, through me." According to Taylor, King told him that the song was a response to a line in Taylor's earlier song "Fire and Rain" that "I’ve seen lonely times when I could not find a friend." Wow - sometimes music is PFM - pure magic!
Eddie Broda keeping searching TH-cam now. Just saw a little longer cut of this same video and he talks about how Carole gave him the song to release first. Funny and touching.
I was singing this song when my youngest sister married 30 years ago and again when I bring my daughter to the altar in december 2023. Most lovely part are the last 2 minuten adding there thanks to eachother. ❤
Took a while to find them singing this together. Love how they did a little improv the last lines to say thanks. I wish I could like this more than once.
How I wish that my best friend were still alive! I will ask to send this to him no matter where his soul is at this time. Miss you more than words can. Thank you for everything you did for me while we were given the time. ❤❤
It was, I may have not been at the Troubadour. It was the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut in the round at the Troubadour, it's a concert that stayed with you forever. The tickets first row my birthday is not expected from a high roller dear friend that is no longer with us today. Love you Tommy and Donna.
found the broadcast of the show on TV a couple of years ago - was totally captivated, always loved Carole King, but the way the two interacted was amazing!!
Assistindo em 01/09/23 e me lembrando dos acampamentos na Praia Costa Azul em Rio das Ostras. Amava ver e ouvir os meninos tocando violão e cantando está música maravilhosa.
Quality broadcast via PBS. I saw them each (separately) in concert in Philadelphia, PA. That was great. This does my heart twice as good. Thanks DJOGGET!
I loved finally they got to dance together please marry each other. You are the answer for the problem in the US. Give them their life PLEASE Mrs Taylor you got to let go of him. I did the same thing. I gave up on my husband. I just wanted him to be happy.
Splendida canzone ottimamente interpretata. 🙂🙂🙂
To answer your question, check the video of the two of them singing the same song at the same venue a "few" years AFTER this version you just watched! Enjoy....Shawn here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada! Carole King ft James Taylor YOU'VE GOT A FRIEND Live at the Troubadour 2010 th-cam.com/video/7ySNPb9punk/w-d-xo.html
The best interpretation of this song is of Carole King herself. Don’t like James‘s interpretation at all, no feeling and expression, lucking the intensity and power Carole has.
@@KevinHirst664 Maybe. Being professional classical musician for 35 years and songwriter myself maybe not enough to match your opinion for which I am sorry. Yet, I still don‘t like anybody better than Carole King interpreting this song that she wrote. It’s her best song, just superb.
No feeling or expression from James F-ing Taylor??????????? An absolutely ridiculous comment. You can like Carole's version better but that is a bullshit shot at JT.

WOW! ... 2 fabulous careers captured in one moment of brilliance. ❤
I played both of their albums for hours and hours! ❤🥰
No one sings any better JT in whatever style. I just feel relax hearing the song by Jt
I’m surprised. Carole sings it so much better. He doesn’t make justice to this wonderful song at all.
He sings it beautifully - but it is Carole King who wrote this famous song! It first appears on her album in 1971.
Ofcourse carol king is also a great composer and singer and works very well together. But jt's version is like lullaby for me very soothing voice.
I saw James in Colorado Springs Fall of 2022. I got covid. It was worth it.
Beautiful together and Lee Sklar on bass!❤
And Danny Kortchmar on guitar
Oh My God!
Oh, My sweet baby James&my sweet and beautiful Carole!
Love FOREVER!

it was a HUGE thing giving this song to James- IT was one of "his "" songs that helped show and publc know him even tho he had tunes prior.
Saw James live a few months ago in Auckland. I basically spent the whole time in tears it was so beautiful
Classic. There is no other word. Just...purely....Classic.
Love the both of them
I saw saw this concert in 2010; it truly doesn’t get any better than this!!!👊👍✌️

James Taylor and Carole King sound so eloquent together 🎉🎉. They both are legendary and iconic 🎉🎉. Listening 🎶 to them perform would be epic 🎉🎉.

And there, like always, is Leland on the bass. What a treat for all of them.

Excellent.
Two words: ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!
The lyrics are so honest and straightforward - a lot like the songwriter, I suspect.

back to this version again after many years. still very beautiful. and yes, Gandalf is still playing bass.
Lee Sklar is a legend! He played on James' original 1971 recording of this song.
Here's James, Carole and Lee (Gandalf) performing the song in 1972. th-cam.com/video/9ryMn7mYI1c/w-d-xo.html
