      Here is a fact that many people ignore. When Bird was playing there were rim protectors on almost every team. When Lebron was playing there were very few rim protectors in their prime. If you watch Lebron's highlights there are mostly uncontested dunks and dunks and layups on smaller players. Bird is a better shooter, better rebounder, and just as good if not better passer. LeBron shoots 37.5% more than 3 feet from the basket so it makes sense his scoring would be a few points down if their was hand checking and Mark Eaton, Hakeem Olajuwon, David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning, and Mutumbo guarding the paint.

      That was hilarious. Larry would totally outclass, and out work Lebron. Lebron has incredible talent but Larry has the "It" factor. Superior basketball IQ. His perfectly timed steals, scores, rebounds and highly accurate career shooting percentage? Larry had the on court presence of a Master Commander whose men knew their battle would be won.

      Lebron cries over a cramp Bird played without hesitation even with back injuries & other major injuries. Lebron hops from team to team trying to take all the credit while expecting the rest of the team to actually pick up lebron's slack & air balls. I think only three names can be on a list of Goat they are Bird, Jordan, & Magic Johnson. All three played injured & sick all three could do everything but openly also were team players unlike Lebron or kobe you take all the shots but don't really do much for defense. Bird Magic & Jordan didn't hop from team to team like most especially these days. There's no question Bird, Jordan, or Johnson are all better then cry baby james. Lebron doesn't call his shots & still make them...Lebron hurts any team he's on. He has to be surrounded by "super stars" yet claims any success as only his doing. He's driven the lakers into the ground.

    I grew up watching younger Magic, younger Larry, younger Kareem, younger M.J. in college, Shaq at L.S.U. I remember watching Dr. J. play, and seeing film of 'recently' past great players like Pistol Pete, Wilt Chamberlain...etc. I watched M.J. in his rookie year...Kobe Bryant in his rookie year...David Robinson, Kevin Garnet, Lebron James, Steph Curry, etc....all of them. When fans say Larry is who they would depend on for that clutch shot to win, to lead the team to victory, to deliver on what he promised...believe them. Believe me. We all saw it, repeatedly, in every scenario, from opening season games to championship playoffs, and it was consistently awe-inspiring. Year, after year, after year. I love watching Lebron. I have since he was in high-school. But no way would I put him above Larry Legend when I needed a win. Never.

    Pretty much says it all. He doesn't even have to shoot the ball and he can dominate a game. He struck fear in opposing players and coaches. He would tell you what he is going to do and there is nothing you can do to stop him. Goats don't look for a better team, they make their team better.
    Another thing that sets him apart from others is his leadership. He understood that it's a team game and you need your team to play together to win. All 5 starters were double digit scorers. Larry Bird made sure of that. He made the team want to play better. This is how he took a 29 game winner to 61 wins and to the ECF in his rookie year with no McHale, no Parish and no DJ.

    I am a lifelong Celtics fan with season tickets for 22 years and my first game I was age 7. Larry Bird recently called out the old players for saying the new players are too soft specifically mentioning how long LeBron has been in the game. LeBron has many times cited Larry as an inspiration for how he plays and also puts Larry in his all-time dream starting five. Those are their opinions about each other.

      Playing longer in the game today just makes more sense, with modern medicine and treatments on top of the fact that back in Larry's day you knew when you had been fouled, no need to flop cause you was on the ground for real.

    Larry Bird as a Rookie, took his team from a 29 win season the year before to a 61 game winning season. The following year with the addition of Robert Parish, and Kevin Mc Kale, they won the championship. Larry was great out of the gate. 33... That number for Larry Bird was special. The year he entered the league was it's 33rd season. When he played his last season in college, he took his Sycamores to a 33 and 0 season before meeting his rival Magic Johnson in the final game that was the highest rated basketball game ever aired to this day. He set a rivalry that saved the NBA and brought interest back to the game of basketball. And maybe this is stretching it, but if you average the wins he added in his Rookie season , 32 wins with the 34th season where he led his team to the championship it averages to another 33 for number 33 Larry Legend Joe Bird. And last, check out all of the highlights over every player that ever played the game, the most entertaining highlights to watch, IMO, are those of Larry Joe Bird. Watch his passing highlights.. Watch his trash talking highlights, Watch his Story of him and Magic. Watch the regard and love and respect from every player of every age who witnesses Larry Bird, and you've got to walk away with nothing bu shear admiration for his Greatness. Larry Legend.

    • @FF-Nation
      @FF-Nation 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah he wouldn't be able to outright trash talk like he did in his hay day, but when a person tells you the play, does it and then just gives you the stares, even in today's era, you can't call a foul on that. That in itself is demoralizing and would mess with people's heads. So, as long as he could still do that, he'd still have that advantage over most players today. And that's just one of MANY of the the tools he could use. @@vicegrips188

    I'm 64, not a big NBA Fan. As a teenager in the 70's the NBA was not popular, most of my friend's watched college games over the NBA, so did I. I was 20 when Larry Bird started his rookie year. Saw one game and I was hooked. Larry Bird, the man, the Legend, the only player to ever get me to watch the NBA. Today I can't watch the NBA, All the completeness has been bled out of the game, the 80's basketball, players played hurt, they fought for position. They were not afraid to get bloody, and the Trash Talk was a major part of the game

    Bird by far. His ability to read his opponents game & be 3 steps ahead amazing. One reason why he was so hard to play against is that you never knew what he was going to do. His lethal abilities on shooting anywhere on the court, his passing, rebounding, and how he could fake a move on a player to throw them off their game. Legendary ❤

    Larry legend. You can’t argue that Larry had less talent on his team beating other teams with more depth. He affected the game even without the ball. His ball IQ is the greatest ever. His passing & rebounds don’t get much attention but they were on point. Lebron would cry & pout if he played in the 80-90 NBA. It was great physical ball, no tick tack fouls.

  • @angelocerrato8425
    @angelocerrato8425 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

    Bird for sure he was a better rebounder, a better shooter there's no argument there he was the all-time best in the clutch he had way more hustle never flopped I think he was a better passer he never took a play off he actually averaged more blocks per game than LeBron he just had to killer mentality and there's probably some other things I just can't think of them at the moment Owen steals he was excellent at them he was just all around better player

  • @caseygleason576
    @caseygleason576 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Larry Bird NEVER loafed. Every step he took while on the court, no matter if he was running full out, trotting, or walking, it all served a strategic and tactical purpose. Every step. Every breath. Every look he gave. Every word he said. He was basketball, through and through. Nobody could compete with that. Not back then, and not now. Everyone who faced him was, in some degree or another, intimidated by his presence and his game. They f***ing knew it in advance, they were going to get owned somehow, someway, and there was literally nothing they could do about it. Larry didn't have a whole lot of respect for many other players and that's because they didn't deserve it. Those few he did respect earned it through their own tenacity. It was an entirely different game back then, and most of the powder puffs playing today wouldn't last very long in the 80's. And that's the truth.

  • @Andrew-pp2ql
    @Andrew-pp2ql 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    Bird was nasty. Every time he played against your team and the game was on the line you always held your breath when you knew bird would shoot that shot and odds were far better than even he would make it.

    The thing that set Larry apart was the way he made the rest of the team better. His teammates saw him feeding them the ball when it was the better play, blocking to get you free for a play. Getting rebounds and making incredible oulet passes. He got his points, but he made sure his teammates did too.
