the firm they work for will probably charge the council (public purse) £50/hr, whilst paying them £15/hr.

I think our rangers are paid for by the BID. A controversial tax forced on shops that in our case has no tangible benefit.

When I see them on the same pavement as I am on, I go across the road. I once told a police officer to not touch my dog. I had turned the corner in Liverpool, out for a visit, and low and behold a pig stood there, and upon seeing my dog put their hand forward. Told them off and went onto the opposite pavement. I will not share the same pavement as scum.

I,m 73 and it's many many years that the police were required to look smart and tidy , not chew gum or stand with their hands in their pockets or drive one handed or had tattoos let alone have long hair 😂 ... what a state of affairs.

SIA badges are handed out like sweets. Anyone can get one, sit in a class for a few hours, tick a few boxes and you're away. That's why they let any clown become 'security'.
To get an SIA badge you need a government funded two day course where the test at the end is sat in pencil- “99% Pass rate”
The exam is a multiple-choice quiz that anyone can pass with basic knowledge without any training or revising.
I read about that online, you need a basic knowledge of English and good attendance, then you're all good to go. Lol

Be interested to know what the Reading BID members think of their representatives acting like that. Complaints to the BID for the BID guys, Reading Borough Council for the wardens and Berkshire police for the PCSO and the bloke on the steps! If anyone in Reading's worried about the standards of behaviour, they could start with sorting that lot out!

In my experience, these people pick on the low hanging fruit - the elderly, lone females, the disabled etc. - but will stand back and do nothing if a pack of refugees is going feral or some local yobbos are causing a disturbance. Granted, they have no power, but that's why they need to be extra focused on people skills and de-escalation. These jokers clearly have none.

He could get done for impersonating a police officer. A plain clothes officer must fully identify himself when asked. It's particularly important after the Wayne Couzens case.

I bet those street wardens would turn a blind eye to cottagers. A good way to wind them up is to stand still, drop some litter, but don't move, or they'll claim you dropped litter and walked away, and will try to issue a fixed penalty notice. Then before they've approached, pick up what you dropped, and have some fun if they still try to issue a PCN.

With these types of jobs, they are probably exposed to the scum of society all day long - druggies, shoplifters, violent loons etc. And that can jade a person. But that's not an excuse to take it out on some random member of the public who is clearly not abusive or doing anything wrong.
These people were already jaded if you ask me and if the job made them behave like this then they need to get another job. My 10 year old could do a better job and be professional and pleasant while doing it.
