As a Londoner I'm determined to do a homebrew called 'Ballbusters' set in 'Joizee City.' You have to speak like a New York taxi driver from the 70s or a wise guy.
Ya breakin’ mah bawls ovah heeya.
I'd play it.
I’d help you with that. You’d have to learn a few Neapolitan Italian curses, too.
@@DaveThaumavore Slaaaaaaaaaaaaggg
@@DaveThaumavore Your Cockney accent is better than the vast majority of American attempts
Says “I’m not too experienced in the cockney accent”
Proceeds to pronounce things super convincingly in the cockney accent
Haha! Thanks.
As a proud Londoner, I am reminded just how great colloquial London language is. As a native, you never really think about it until someone references it. It’s the mutts nuts, the absolute dogs bollocks. Love it. Oh yeah, the game looks mustard too.
Cor blimey guv’nor, this is a bit tasty innit! Like Oliver Twist meets Blades in the Dark directed by Guy Ritchie.
cheers Dave!
You bet!
I never see anyone else go as in depth on their reviews for game systems, not even questing beast (Who I am also a fan of). I Really appreciate your effort. For as many quality systems as you cover, and as honest as you are about their flaws, I'd be interested to see what you come up should you design your own. Maybe worth considering if you have not already.
I could see A Clockwork Orange setting being played with this.
dude this is a great idea
I love that you are uploading more RPG Reviews!
So many cool rpgs and not nearly enough interested people to play them with. Or time.
Indeed.
Giving control to the players and GM to world build could be an excellent Session 0 where everyone participates in the cities shape and look. It would give that lived in feel to a player, develop in game lore about the characters, etc.
Probably my most anticipated rpg release this year
Yeah, Luke Gearing really outdid himself here.
So much swagger, this game.
Bif Dave is Big Vern's cousin innit?
"But think in terms of f-bombs here."
Dave, your reviews, as usual, are genius. I was already interested in Swyvers, but now I need a copy.
Great video as always, thank you.
Awesome!
This is freaking Brilliant!!
Great review!
I didn't have "Dave Thaumavore goes from RPG TH-camr to Proper Cockney Geezer" on my 2024 bingo card but here we are!
Also, top tip for surviving British old money: count shillings before pennies, then you only have to count up to 11 pence at a time rather than 240.
Ooooh this is so my speed. Totally going to back it, I have such a growing list of RPGs im planning to run at least once this year. I just did Symbaroum next is the rest of Copper Crown then Old Gods of Appalachia. Fingers crossed the game, even just the PDF, is out on time, I want to write a whole thing for this.
Before this came out they had a quick start for sale at like 1 buck if you hot it before the KS started you will get the full game on release :-P
Dude gotta call out Luke Gearing's Wolves Upon The Coast, such an amazing grand hexcrawl campaign.
Hey, as long as you jump over the (ridiculously) low bar of Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins...
Oww, wouldn't it be luverly to bring this to the table!
This sounds like it’d be great to run, provided I can find some players up for it. I could do a kind of crossover with the Swedish RPG Nordic Vaesen except this time it’ll be from the POV of scrappy kids who have to deal with folklore critters alongside the regular life of being a flash covey with a bonny stag (genuine 1890’s London slang among certain sections of criminals). One interesting thing is that the word “to fence” for “selling stolen goods” is still in use to this very day despite being both medieval in origin and used in the 1800’s among London criminals.
There is something similar in Swedish history, but I don’t know much about it and it’s extremely hard to find sources as most people didn’t find this sort of thing important enough to bother writing down, let alone archiving it.
Anybody get the Blackadder reference under the Dogs-body entry?
Dark Eye, Rolemaster and Gurps have rules for STDs.
Don’t forget FATAL.
@@Crimsonstar23 Thank you, I have been trying to remember which game had all these rules for deviancy for weeks now. It was somewhat of a legend amongst our groups in the early 2000’s because of amongst others the “circumference” stat ;) .
@@BanjoSick Yeah I found out about it a few months back and it boggles my mind what this guy put into his book. Was there no one checking behind him haha??
Is cockney Dave the Big Dave? This was excellent.
Watch Guy Ritchie"s Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels and Snatch for some proper Cockney accents.
gimmick based game, very exiting.
"Swyving" was late medieval slang for sleeping around. 😁 You're welcome.
Looks like it could inspire some ideas but most of it seems borrowed from Blades in the Dark.
