Laboratory Video 4 Compression Testing

Ninyo & Moore’s Processing Laboratory provides full-service testing for construction, quality control, and materials. Mark Cuthbert, PE, Principal Engineer, performs a Concrete Masonry Unit Conform-ance test to measure the compressive strength which demonstrates how much load the masonry can handle before it fractures. This test provides key details to structural engineers so they know if it con-forms to the design strength in the assigned plans and specifications. Mark uses a Million Pound Compression machine during the test process (only two like it reside in Southern California and Ninyo & Moore owns one of them).
