  • Understanding Superpave Mix Design - Federal Highway Administration 1995 - Video VH-353 - Superpave, Superior Performing Asphalt Pavements, is presented as the mix design system for the next century. Its two components are described: performance-based asphalt binder specification and volumetric mix design and analysis. The Superpave gyratory method of laboratory compaction is also shown. More detailed explanations are provided for the performance-graded ratings and the Superpave aggregate gradation methods. The video repeatedly reassures viewers of the ease of switching to the Superpave system, referring local agencies to the FHWA implementation program and technical assistance.

    they are having to pave an repay more often due to the fact that super pave is being intentionaly designed to fail at a very early life span cycle age so as to institute a quicker turn around time fir these corked assed contractors get to repack it every 5 _7 years instead if every 15 -17 years the normal life span of older types if marshal method mix design mixes rather than with a groytoary campacton method

    Super Pave hasn't proven to be a better alternative over the Marshall Mix. Till this day, nothing can defeat the king of Asphalt Paving on Highways, called DFC, Dense Friction Coarse, that's based on Trap Rock via the Marshall Mix. Not only does DFC cost cheaper over Super Pave, it also lasts A LOT longer.
    MTO made an error for adopting Super Pave many years ago. That move drove up costs over 40%, and now they have to re-surface these Super Pave Highways a lot more.
