    Thank you, Manny for not skipping the music! Muting the music if it gives you a strike is much better than skipping it altogether, because it's important for YOU to get the full experience. The music in this documentary series is truly almost the most important thing, because every chapter revolves around a song that was released during that time.

    Hi Manny. You've asked who's that guy on 4:55 mark, he is Jonghyun of Shinee, he is also a great singer and the vocalist of their group. Sadly, he passed away on 2017 (suicide).

    The “deleted scenes and bonus content” is not in each “chapters” video, there is a separate video for each chapter labeled as “deleted scenes” and “ bonus content”. These content show more of the “laid back” and “funny goofy selves” that takes a break from the “intense” content in each chapter. It shows their real, true personality.

  • @ayamewong2103
    @ayamewong2103 3 ปีที่แล้ว +21

    I like this chapter - I think too many ppl are unnecessarily sensitive about some of the content. To me, it was letting us know what the members of BTS were facing as young ppl. Pressure from society, family, friends and the cost of it upon them as young adolescents. Perhaps they lost friends due to the pressure or perhaps failure to achieve their parents expectations. I take all of your comments as another viewpoint or idea to contemplate. This chapter also shows us how these experiences shaped their early music and lyrics. The reason BTS chooses to be a beacon of hope for young ppl dealing with pressures to succeed. It doesn’t matter where we’re from - we all are dealing with it.

    I think the deleted scenes and bonus content videos that some people requested are separate videos from the same channel, not the small preview + bonus at the end.
    I didn't request that personally since the main content is in the actual episodes but I think that's what others meant.
    Anyway great to see that you're back Manny 💜

    yeah documenting youth years is kinda a two side coin for them. on the one hand, it's a really good memory chest and it's also one of the pillars for the connection with fans. on the other hand tho, it's like being watched all the time. that can't not affect you, right. first thing that i remembered is jungkook's lines from his solo song My Time "My life has been a movie all the time", then i remembered "film it now" from Black Swan, that tell us that there are not only good and happy things that have been recorded. when they suffer, when they feel down or insecure, cameras don't turn away
    but then again nothing is only good or bad in this world

    it's "funny" how today we are witnessing something similar to what was happening all these years ago: the system and people who benefit from it not wanting bts to succeed further, because by the words or the actions or by just existing bts brings to light the flaws and injustice that this system cultivates to keep profiting. they have faced such a push back in south korea in their debut years until they became bigger than that, and now they are pushing through us industry, again being called unauthentic, inorganic etc. where else have you seen an artist on the billboard interview answering in all seriousness asked question if their fans' engagement with their music is a chart manipulation? disrespectful

    • @erume5776
      @erume5776 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      btw i really admire namjoon's answer to that:
      “It’s a fair question,” says RM of allegations that ARMY’s work amounts to chart manipulation. “But if there is a conversation inside Billboard about what being No. 1 should represent, then it’s up to them to change the rules and make streaming weigh more on the ranking. Slamming us or our fans for getting to No. 1 with physical sales and downloads, I don’t know if that’s right ... It just feels like we’re easy targets because we’re a boy band, a K-pop act, and we have this high fan loyalty.”

    I really like this tradition in Korea of calling your parents on your birthday and thanking them for giving birth to you and raising you. That is amazing!

      So lovely!! I also love the tradition of if you go out for food on your birthday you pay for it as opposed to the other ppl there, I’ve started doing that nowadays and it feels a lot more .. warm? Or something like that? then having ppl buy food for you actually! I always pay for a meal with my mum on my birthday.

    sometimes when people start to compare issues that accrue in different countries, i get really confused. is it a competition whose life is harder? why are we arguing about that? industry can be suffocating in both s korea and us, isn't the goal to ease the system into something healthier overall instead of fighting for who is innocent and who's the "devil"

  • @dnylolbe
    @dnylolbe 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I agree with all you're saying in this video I'd like to add that even when BTS were and still are exposing themselves so much to show their true selves still they care of what they are showing in other videos you'll see they care a lot about their image because they know how this will affect the rest of the team and as you can see they're always thinking about the members cause everyone had worked a lot to gain respect and korean culture is hard on their artists so they try as hard as they can to keep the clean image they have until now. It's not a secret that paparazzis are still trying to find dust in them and till this day can't find anything.

    Nothing is without critique and, as long as it’s not malicious, critique is needed for progress. People are incredibly reactionary to some things that need to be critiqued because they think it’s a violent attack on x or y when in reality it’s most often not targeted. Like your said, there’s stuff to critique and take with a grain of salt about Korea and it’s society, but people need to understand that, like you mentioned, it’s not an attack on the country or it’s culture, but at systematised ideologies and practices that are wrong no matter the country. Critiquing Korea’s homophobia is a critique on homophobic people, not the country itself, for example. Same with study culture (Suga is very open about being anti-school but pro-education, for example) or controlling parents. I get how and why people can get this defensive, I’m part of many marginalised communities (I’m mixed race and spent my life in a culturally homogeneous country, I’m trans, I’m bisexual, I’m disabled, I’m mentally ill, and I am female presenting), I’ve experienced and known bigotry and oppression and hate, and this can make us reactionary at times due to the trauma. Same with ARMY, we’ve seen the boys be mistreated for so long that we can be reactive (and I’m so sorry you are getting hate comment Manny, absolutely not deserved and not cool); but being reactionary achieves nothing and we, as people, need to not only take things with a grain of salt, but also we need to learn to take and give critique in a positive manner rather than take it all the time as an attack. This of course carries nuance, but I think it goes along to what you’re saying. I hope I’m explaining myself hahaha
    Thank you for your intelligent commentary as always Manny! I’m glad you took the chance at happiness and I hope you continue to react to BTS and fall in love with them, their music and their message.

    Hi Manny.. BTS expressed their sentiment about the Korean educational system in their song 2nd Grade. FYI, while BTS members were training and already performing, they still went and finished their schools. Imagine the hard work of these young boys. Despite BTS success and hectic schedule, 6 members have finished college education. I think Jung Kook is still finishing his bachelor degree in college. Last year, V and Jimin graduated from their Masters Degree... BTS members are all well-educated.
