@@Jimcarson1972carson while I understand your point, I think it’s fair to say that parents put their trust into the hockey program. The trust that the family their child will be sent to is a strong household in which their child continues to learn the values they have. I personally didn’t start playing juniors until I was 18 however my parents still trusted another family and thankfully all of my experiences were positive thanks to the programs putting in the work and confirming the families were the right fit. Don’t get me wrong there’s tons of horror stories around, but I feel that the blame should fall more on the programs rather than the parents who want to watch their children live their dreams.

A lot of billet parents are either elderly folk whose kids have moved out and they miss the game, or families that couldn’t actually have a baby for physical reasons. I had 2 billet families during my time in junior and they were both wonderful families who fed me and let me live in their house for free because they love the game. Granted I know there is some tea with ms mcgill shit going on but that’s very rare.

He almost single handedly won a university hockey title when he played for SMU, theres lots of guys whove played in the NHL in that leauge and he could single handedly win a game. He could have been a star in the NHL
@@bcharly1985 when I was at SMU a few years ago they had two guys who had games in the NHL, they had the leading point scorer of the Q from two years prior as well. They were just average that year. Mike Dantons first year with the team was the only time in the schools history they won the national championship. Danton was a point per game in the playoffs and was their second leading scorer. Quite a few guys in university hockey have a few games in the NHL, most good teams have one or two. Few if any though have a guy like Danton who likely could of had a career there
Frost’s whereabouts aren’t totally unknown, he’s married to Wes McCauley’s sister now, which had to have been awkward when he worked Leafs games these past few years

Making it to professional sports elite level like the NHL, KHL, etc. is a High Risk, High Reward thing. for both the best and/or the worst. Blood, Sweat and Tears is the symbolic reference for a valid reason. Still, there exist no excuses what-so-ever for people to take abusive advantages of kids and youngsters. That is pure wrong and pure evil.
As was I. And I had Colts season tickets and was at game 7 against the whalers when they won the OHL. Keefe, Barnes and Jefferson. That team was insanely good but none of them were able to break through.

Not to mention they all were complete creeps and weren’t part of the team, only team I’ve ever played on where the boys aren’t all on the same page.

@@MSZFilms and I’m telling you the outlaw leagues in Canada or “the jungle” are junior b and junior c teams. Junior C feeds into junior a (OJHL) and junior b feeds OHL (major junior). The only differences between the two leagues is that the NCAA considers OHL “professional” so if you want a scholarship to play in the US you have to play OJHL. And if you’re describing the types of players I played in both leagues in the late 90s OHL was much more rough and physical. Outlaw leagues in Canada are either lower tier junior teams or pay to play junior teams. Not OJHL or OHL.
