  • In this video I cast a pair of 4" bronze Megalodon teeth in my backyard foundry. I used bronze consisting of 95% copper and 5% tin to create these teeth.
    Megalodon is an extinct species of shark that lived approximately 23 to 3.6 million years ago, during the Early Miocene to the Pliocene.

    Awesome technique, thanks for sharing!
    Have You ever tried to dig kind of a "pool" on the top side of the mold (where You pour the molten metal in) that has an "overflow" to finally fill the cavity? I guess that should prevent molten metal from the top-surface of the crucible (possibly oxidyzed or with slag) flowing into the cavity. I don't know if adapting that would bring a further improvement, but it's certainly worth a try.

    I love your works! I have a few questions: what type of sand did you use for casting? Where can I find that sand? After casting, can that sand be used again for casting? I hope you will reach 100k subscribers very soon!!!!!

    • @robinson-foundry
      @robinson-foundry  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thank you very much! So do I. I buy my sand from petrobondforsale.com. You can reuse it many times. I scrape off the black sand and keep it separate. After I have a bunch of the black / dark sand accumulated I will mix it up and rehydrate it with a little oil. It’s better if you can keep the burnt rehydrated sand separate from the fresh stuff but you can mix it also. 100 lbs should last a long time.

    Another great video and amazing pieces of art! I’ve been watching your videos since your first bronze dagger video and it’s amazing how much you’ve been able to hone in your skills. Seems so effortless for you now. I started casting bronze in my backyard a few years back but I never reached your level. I do more 3D printing these days and treasure hunts. I still have many pieces I’d like cast though. Are you interested in doing any commissioned pieces? Do you have a public contact page? Thanks again!
