No one has been able to top Tom Welling’s portrayal as Clark Kent for me and it’s no shot to other actors but ever since the show ended , I have felt such a void since
12:15 No fictional character has ever inspired me more than Tom Welling's Clark. Not to overdramatize or romanticize this, but ever since I first watched the show in full in 2016-ish, I've felt empowered by the idea of trying be like Clark - if I can have as much as 0.0001% of his heroicism and virtuousness. He inspires me to be better and try to do good, which mainly manifests in how I carry myself and how I try to treat other people. That never happened to me with other portrayals of Superman; I never felt I wanted to *be* like the 90s animated Superman, the Christopher Reeve one, or the Man of Steel one. Smallville's Clark is the only one who did that for me - and that's largely on Tom. So it's not just "pretending" to help people - his character genuinely affected me, even if it's just in a small way.
Thanks for finally having Tom for the fifth time, Michael! TOM WELLING is the PERFECT guest to celebrate the landmark 300th Episode, and the BIGGEST CONGRATULATIONS to Michael, Ryan, Bryce, Jason & the entire team on the accomplishment of 300+ Episodes of Inside Of You With Michael Rosenbaum! Glad to have been a part of this journey since the very beginning, and I always appreciate each and every insight shared from all the different aspects of Tom's personal, private, & professional life! I regret to hear about the "Health Scares", and I continuously wish Tom lots of good health with the hope that everything only gets better. A FOREVER THANK YOU from me for SMALLVILLE & TALK VILLE, and I am excited for Tom's two movies to be released, the new "Sheriff role", and future projects too! I want Tom to continue to be on top of the "Leader Board", so fingers crossed that Tom's sixth podcast episode will happen soon! Best Wishes, Fatima
Honestly can't put it better myself, Fatima! I was going to interject my own comment, but I can't think of much else more to say! I might add something later, but I'm a bit too tired now to think of it haha.
SAME HERE!!!!!!! It's what led me to finding my favorite Delivery Pizza!!!!! Dominoes Thin Crust with: Steak (I don't eat Pork), Onions, Green Peppers and Mushrooms. Went through so many pizzas from so many places.........That Dominoes one = THE BEST!!!! Every once in a while, I'd get thick crust type and garlic dipping sauce for the crust and of course, same place, same toppings!!!!
Tom is a very underrated actor, I really hope is gonna make more movies with good directors who appreciate how amazing actor and a lovely person he is.
I was in and out of the hospital growing up, always sick at home or wheelchair at school when i was able. Having Smallville in my life helped more than i can say. Now having this podcast talking about mental health in my adulthood. I only wish i could give back what you guys gave me. Hope and the will to keep going. Thank you Tom and Michael!
I have been sick since I was 12 and I know EXACTLY what you mean! Smallville, Michael and Tom mean the world to me because they continue to give me hope even when my health makes it hard to continue day to day! Love and hugs your way!
Oh my Gosh, I was at the Nashville con and Tom was so amazing and sweet. To know he was in pain only makes me adore him more. He made me feel so welcome and special and to know he was hurting proves what a great guy he is.
Learning that Tom had a seizure with loss of consciousness hurts me and I hope and pray God that this will never happen to him again and that he will always enjoy good health. I love you so much Tom and thank you for opening up to us little by little, thanks also to Michael who encourages you to do it because it is important to talk even just a little about what scares or torments us, opening up even just a little can help a lot. It doesn't surprise me that Tom wanted to be a firefighter because firefighters are heroes who risk their lives every day to help others and Tom is exactly this, a hero. You help and inspire so many people every day with your Clark, including me more that I can say. You are a hero on and off screen, Tom, and the wonderful man you are in your real life makes you even more of a hero. Thank you for being as special and unique as you are and please just have more self-esteem of yourself and never let anyone bring you down.❤️❤️❤️
Listening to Tom talk about his kids and being a father is absolutely the sweetest thing. Everyone having that level of adoring, doting father would be such a world changer. Congrats on #300, Michael!
So great that Tom and Michael have such a great relationship long after Smallville ended. Smallville personally helped me when I lost my wife in August, 2021. Covid was still wide open then and I was desperately looking for something to watch to help with my grief and also the isolation from Covid. Smallville was just incredible in helping me to come back to being a whole person again. Always have been a big comic fan but didn't have time for much TV in early 2000s. I was aware of Smallville and it's unique take on Superman but nothing prepared for the great writing and character development. I instantly fell in love with the Lois and Clark dynamic. Loved seeing actors that I was already a fan of in Annette O'toole and John Schneider. Just was blown away by Erica Durance's version of Lois. Just a great experience to watch it and I could literally feel myself healing. I owe you guys a lot. Thank you for helping through a very difficult time in my life. Bless you both.
I'm so glad you started doing this Michael. It's a great show, and you're perfect for it. This and Talkville are so refreshing. It's authentic and not contrived.
It's great to see how much Tom has opened up. I think he has finally stopped to smell the roses. That's the great thing about age...Sometimes you learn something along the way!
Listening to Tom talking about stacking really spoke to me. Ive seen it in myself- i internalize a lot of abuse and at some point i explode on the person who treated me badly most recently. Its happened a few times in my life. Im glad its not just me.
What's so obvious now from these podcasts (thank you) is that what we loved about Clark on Smallville was Tom Welling all the time. I was at that convention in Nashville, also Albuquerque, and the way Tom was walking during Smallville Nights reminded me so much of how my dad walks all the time. I rarely feel sympathy for actors, but I had sympathy for Tom that night. And kiddo loved meeting you guys in Albuquerque and doing Smallville Nights.
You guys were so great to meet at the Hotel in Albuquerque while you guys were at Comicon. You guys were just so friendly, and it meant the world to my husband and our kids! We were there for my Aunt and Uncle's 50th Wedding Anniversary. Thank you guys again for being real and just all-around good people. Our daughter Riya and our son Justice were just so excited it made their year.
So glad Tom is ok!!! ❤ I love that you guys are real friends. One of the few shows that isn’t ruined by the main stars not being friends or that don’t like their show. It just makes me happy to know, and I love your banter and support of one another
The impression I've gotten regarding Brendon Fraser, is that he comes off as a very sincere person... Sincerity is something that is far rarer than we all wish it was. We all have masks, perspectives, views, and goals that we let on about... I've never met Fraser, but from what I have seen, I get the impression that he just is who he is, and it's genuinely refreshing in a world of dual-identities.
I briefly met Brendan Fraser at London Film and Comic Con in 2019. It was just after he had finished filming Professionals with Tom. It was just a few seconds as he had a large queue of fans waiting behind me, but he signed my The Mummy & Mummy Returns DVD box set and he was very nice, down to earth, and genuine, just like Tom. Whom I've also had the pleasure of meeting. And Michael too!
Tom was my hero and mentor growing up. He has always inspired me to fight through my darkest times and gave me peace in my heart. Nothing can ever take that away thank you Tom!
Michael is right about saying how Smallville helped people who were going through rough times. I had just experienced a heartbreak and death in the family and was in a severe depression and Smallville was the only source of joy for me that i looked forward to every week and helped me keep going.
Keanu is probably my favorite person in Hollywood (no offense to either of y'all, of course). One of the most down to Earth, generous, and considerate people that I wish I had the joy of saying I knew.
Tom and Michael you have no idea what you have done for me in my life. From what the show means to me and the hope and joy it brings me. what Michael does with podcast. Tom said in one of the episodes that a brain can not fully live when in survival mode. My health causes me to live in survival mode and when he spoke about that and his therapist it hit home! You both are incredible humans! Take the credit!
29:26 - the power of your kids. I was told my son would have difficulty with empathy with his ASD diagnosis. He has had that for awhile. 2 days ago, he says something that I'd never heard from him showing VERY clearly that he understands a person in a video's emotions and they they are sad by that outcome. For the next hour I could not think of anything else but that. So I talked to him and he said, "I know when people are sad". In 1 phrase, he made me feel like he had just climbed a mountain and I wanted to be the guy at base camp cheering him on as it was his accomplisment, not "ours" or not some therapist I want to call up and tell them about it. No, it was uniquely his accomplishment. So Tom's point here hit me so hard with the "magic of kids".
I totally relate to Tom's spending habits. I don't like having lots of things, but i also want the things i have to be "just right," so I sometimes end up buying too many versions of one thing, like a backpack, trying to goldilocks my way to the "perfect" backpack.
Tom was the perfect guest for episode 300 (congrats on hitting that milestone btw), shocking to hear about his health scare but good that he's OK now, loved how honest he was about himself. Really enjoyed this one 😄
When it comes to a Smallville movie... First let me say that I really enjoyed it. As we are close in age, in many ways I grew up with you during the series. But when it comes to further jobs based on it, I think Smallville did a good enough job in wrapping itself up, I'd be hesitant to try to add to it now. It was really cool seeing you during that cross-event in the DC series, and was a welcome surprise. It showed where things went and how your life had played out. In the series you always struggled trying to balance your responsibilities to other due to having the power to make a difference, and your responsibilities to yourself and your loved ones. As was mentioned earlier in this podcast, where you have to help yourself so that you are able to help others, it was actually nice to know that there's a time you could hang up the cape and actually enjoy just being human. Seeing your kids grow, and live the kind of life you fought to help provide for others. I'm not sure where they could take it at this point that wouldn't sour that revelation... I have enjoyed watching you in 0ther shows too, such as Lucifer and the Professionals series (still wish that one would have lasted), but I am glad they didn't try to milk the Smallville series to the point of spoiling it's charm like has happened to so many other IPs...
Always a pleasure to have Tom on! Love him so much and love Smallville! Would love for you to have Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki from Supernatural on again! ❤️🙏 Love that show as well! Love the Podcast Michael! Keep up the amazing work! Love to all from So. Cal USA 🇺🇸 ❤️❤️🙏
Happy 300th Inside Of You Podcast Michael, Ryan & Bryce! I have been subbed pretty much from the beginning & I love this pod. Tom was the perfect guest for 300 episodes celebration.
Very pleasant and fascinating discussion between two long - dated friends !! 💙💙❤❤ I admire the affection and the respect you have for each other, thanks Michael for this awesome Inside, and thanks to Ryan and Bryce, of course !!! ♥️💘
Michael I fell in love with your personality when I first saw the Smallville bts and years later shoot man almost decades plural I still love ya bro. You and Welling being friends is so amazing I wrote a little thing to John Glover on his IG just recognizing how important he is to Smallville and how the show still helps me through some of the roughest grief and depression and really gives me hope for the good in people and it goes without saying that you and Tom are just as important. As well as John and Annette. Funny enough I'm hearing you and Tom right now talk about how people come up to you to tell you how the show helped them through 9/11 and how some people like me who watched with their Dad. My Dad's still alive and I can tear up thinking about us watching the show in 2005 so I can't even imagine how those memories are for the ones whose Dads passed. I love all you guys, Michael, Tom, Al and Miles, Greg Beeman, Kristen and Erica. I just wish all the best things for all of you. I just wish you guys would do a Superman movie together. I'm going to write a script.
Rosey you mentioned you don’t feel you help people sometimes….i need to reiterate how much your shoes saved me on 2023. I seriously entertained just ending it all. I was making a list of passwords for my parents to use so they wouldn’t have access to my things. I never said this out loud. I am eternally grateful. Congratulations on 300. I’m happy to say I’m here to see it and I’m here for my life. Thank you Tom for being forthcoming as uncomfortable it may be. Truly…thank you. 💝
Great way to bring in the 300th episode! Truly epic interview on so many levels. Did not think it was possible to like and respect this very kind, genuine and intelligent man anymore than I already do. Thank you for all you do and here’s to 300 more phenomenal episodes ❤️❤️🙏.
When my girlfriend and I started dating we did a watch through of Smallville because she had never seen it. My dad passed unexpectedly prior to season 5. I like to credit both of you and everyone else on Smallville for helping me to get through!
Why have you reached this far? I believe the "300th episode" speaks for itself. I've followed you from day 1. Like every show, everything starts off slow and then builds up. I never listened to Pod Casts but "Inside Of You" has just been amazing and keeps getting better. You have had some amazing guests, I just enjoy listening to you all talk not only about your and their careers but also mental health issues. All the best and success that life has to offer to you all. You deserve iy
I turned on this podcast during my ptsd episode and this really helped me realize things and calm down thanks you for making these for all of us and yourselves. Smallville was the first show I ever watched at 2 yrs old. Always will be my favorite show to grace television. Thanks Michael and Tom for everything.
It’s always it treat when you get Tom on the podcast, you both have a true friendship and those are very rare ♥️ Tom is right Michael that you do a lot for others and you have made a difference in the lives of others. Those little things what counts and the time you spend with those children watching a movie or just hangout with them at the Ronald McDonald house. They will always remember those small moments that makes a difference in those children lives. All the organizations from food on foot and animals rescue your hero in so many ways Michael. I sometimes feel the same way thinking you can always do more. You do have to take care of yourself, I just started seeing a therapist. I felt like I was having a nervous breakdown which I did right in front of my therapist. Sometimes life has a way of creeping up on you and I’ll be 60 this year. I have been through so much in my life and I thought I was ok, I have always helped others and put people before myself. I always love keeping busy keeps my mind off of things and I never worry. But sometimes you past has a way off creep up on you. I tried block out so much of the trauma in my life, it’s weird just by watching a TV show can hit you hard with some memories of what you’ve been through. I am so glad I started seeing a therapist. It’s been quite a long time, since I had to see one, I deal with depression and anxiety and PTSD. It’s important to take care of yourself and sometimes you need someone to talk to, and not keep things bottled up. I have been hooked since 2017 on your podcast and will continue, this podcast is one of the best. Michael you Rock!!
I just finished listening to this episode and it was delightful. Tom definitely opened up and I learned so much more about him. Your podcast is so inspiring and helps so many people. Congratulations on 300 episodes. Here to more to come. We also get a double dose of Michael, Tom, and Ryan this week with Talkville on Wednesday. Best podcast ever!
Congratulations to your 300. podcast IOU! It is great that you have got Tom for this epic podcast. It feels so right, because both of you are awesome! Thank you and thanks to the whole team! 🖖💖
Tom welling and Michael Rosenbaum And the entire smallville cast. You all have helped me so much. This show MADE my childhood and into my teen years and high school. I watched this show every single day. I didn’t have a lot of friends in school and wasn’t popular and I felt like I had friends in all of you even though I didn’t personally know all of you. I just recently went to the New Jersey con and met all of you and that was my dream! So thank you smallville cast ❤️
Awesome interview. Got to chat with Tom at one of the Supernatural cons last year and was so impressed. Seems like such a genuinely good, down to earth dude. Great stuff.
I'm a Little late I only started joining in a week ago now I'm hooked Love You showman and I'm also very late and watching smallville LOLI Always worked when I lived to Florida and never got time to watch smallville but now I'm hooked on It watching It on Hulu this show is so amazing God bless all you guys
Congrats on the 300 episodes guys, great podcast to listen/watch. Also watched Smallville since day one, as a huge Superman fan. I’m the same age as Tom and he’s 100% right, mentally I feel early 20’s, body is in its 80’s 😂 Although I do have Cystic Fibrosis I had a normal life. Sadly not too great now but that’s why watching reruns of Smallville and listening to this podcast keeps me going. So you both talk about helping others, you are still helping me so thank you 🙏🏼 Really hope Netflix bring out a movie out a mini series at some point. Would be huge!
LETS GOOO Love when you guys get together. Starting Season 2 of Smallville with my wife and she's finally agreed to watch all the seasons with me and then watch this podcast. Thank you guys.
Thanks you! Tom and Michael, for another podcast to get to know Tom a little bit more. Tom love the way you're sporting Clark Kent glasses. Lol. Congrats on 300 episode Michael! Keep those episodes coming.👏🙌❤
I would love to meet these two .. I lost all my immediate family before I was 21.. mom, dad, grandparents, aunt all of em an I was a single child but Smallville helped me thru that in so many ways thank you Michael and thank you Tom yall are legends in my book ❤
Hey Guys Love you both. This show and Talkville just keeps getting better and better Nice that Ryan's back as well I watched several episodes of the show with Fraser. Is there going to be a second season? BTW it appeared that Keanu personally thanked me for the compliment I gave him from his Dogstar interview Kept wondering if this was for real?? Keep up the great work
I always so enjoy these interviews with Tom, you can feel what good friends he and Michael are and it's always such a sweet interview. 300 episodes is a great achievement but the impressive part is actually the consistent quality of the interviews and the guests, the episodes are always so interesting and enlightening. Congratulations guys!
Long time Smallville fan... Enjoyed this podcast for a while. Long may this continue. Also nice tribute to Clark Kent with the flannel shirt Also pray for Gaza
Smallville played by its own rules, so Id be happy for a Smallville return with no suit, a grounded family man with powers still trying to stop Lex Luthor from certain things
The fact that the guys who played Lex Luthor and Clark Kent are such good buddies is a bit of poetry the world needs.
This makes me happy
Until one of them betrays the other
I guess you can say their friendship is the stuff of legends
Good one
Dont forget Lionel Luthor!

Congratulations on 300 episodes Michael!! So happy for you and proud of you ❤
When it comes to a Smallville movie...
I still feel like this is that new show Rosenbaum has. He's so damn good at this, and this show is so valuable. Glad to be here for it.
Congratulations on 300! I think Tom is the perfect guest for it!
300th episode in almost five year. Congrats Michael. I'll keep watching.
This makes me want to go back and watch the other episodes with Tom Welling again.
I love the friendship you guys have! :) :)
Congrats on the 300th episode Michael! I absolutely love your friendship with Tom. This was a great interview. Tom come on more often 😊
Very pleasant and fascinating discussion between two long - dated friends !! 💙💙❤❤ I admire the affection and the respect you have for each other, thanks Michael for this awesome Inside, and thanks to Ryan and Bryce, of course !!! ♥️💘
And Jason !🙊
300!!! Wow. That's huge number! Congratulations🙂❤ and TOM is here! Yes!
Never get tired of having Tom on the podcast. ❤
Congratulations on 300 episodes!! Tom was the perfect guest to have on for your 300 episode. I am learning so much more about him.
Always love to see you two guys together! ❤❤❤
It's so weird watching this now....Coz I'm in the middle of rewatching Smallville 😂😂 rushing through Season 7 now
Congratulations on 300 episodes!! So happy for you. Tom was the perfect guest to have on for your 300 episode. I am learning so much more about him.
This bromance between you two is pulling at my heartstrings! Lovin it! ❤️ ❤❤
It feels like more then 300. I can't remember life before the podcast.
❤️🥺❤️
Many thanks to Rosey, Ryan and Tom! 🔰

Tom welling and Michael Rosenbaum
And the entire smallville cast.
Congratulations on 300 episodes so many great guests here's to more in the future
Thank you to both of you, I was one of those people who needed Smallville and I still enjoy watching to this day. This podcast made my day!

Awesome interview. Got to chat with Tom at one of the Supernatural cons last year and was so impressed. Seems like such a genuinely good, down to earth dude. Great stuff.

Episode 300! What a great accomplishment Michael! A great episode with Tom!
The Welling is back in action. It's sort of like a college reunion of sorts always with the Smallville cast.

BTW it appeared that Keanu personally thanked me for the compliment I gave him from his Dogstar interview
Kept wondering if this was for real??
Keep up the great work
❤ this Podcast. Congratulations on the 300th episode. Cheers and here's to many more. Excellent guest for your celebration. WTG Inside Of You Team!
Super congrats on 300 episodes Rosey you do such a super job !!!
Also nice tribute to Clark Kent with the flannel shirt
Also pray for Gaza
Amazing achievement!
Smallville played by its own rules, so Id be happy for a Smallville return with no suit, a grounded family man with powers still trying to stop Lex Luthor from certain things
Congratulations on 300 episodes!!! Great job! I listen every Tuesday!!!
