guys! Drizzt is chosen of Mielikki, not Lolth. Mielikki actually reincarnated his entire crew because of the “funk” he fell into after they all passed away id be more than happy to offer up what i know about Drizzt when you do his episode. i have every one of Bob Salvatores books. I love Drizzt
If you reference the first book it is stated he’s a chosen of Lolth. That’s why his defection enrages Lolth so much, and that his house falls into such disarray. The reason Lolth allows her to use the ritual that brings back Drizzt's father. And his mother loses her place as leader of the family when she fails. It’s not until the 3rd book Sojourn that his connection with Mielikki begins to take shape. And only after meeting the blind ranger who reshapes how Drizzt views gods and faith.
It’s been years since I read the history origin books … I was always under the impression that it’s never stated that he’s chosen of Lloth only hinted and referred! I think the reason it’s taken as cannon is because Matron Yvonnel Baenre (the elder) never actually gives her daughter a straight answer only says it is something Lloth would find entertaining. Which in itself causes the daughters to gasp!!!! Remember Yvonnel the elder remember Lloth before she became a major god back in 3rd ed and understands Lloth better than any other mortal! There is also the problem that since 3rd ed we no longer have templets for chosen anymore! Also RA Salvatore has always taken each editions rules with a certain amount of salt … it’s not like what he writes is cannon. If it was my 20th level wizard is going to start learning Psionics like Gomph did in the recent books !!!
@@normknapp4404 I allways thought he just had the lucky feat when it came to fighting other drow, like there are a few times in the later books where he gets recaptured by drow but he just gets stupid lucky like the cleric magic would fail or the snake whips would just barely miss like loth was on his side, loth wanted drizzt to cut his way out of menzzozabranzon.

Lolth is a low-key functioning alcoholic that never got over her husband, Vhaeraun is the black sheep of the family, and Ellistraee is the weird hippy kid that the mother clearly favors because she wanted a girl but also doesn't take her seriously. Corellon comes down every year to see his kids because he has partial custody.
So Lolth is Arcni from Greek myth. Seduce you to good in the Moonlight - people who have been damage by being a Bard had a entire other picture than most other people

Well Pennywise isnt part of the same pantheon the turtle is from, but he is quantified as a descendant of a the Stephen King equivalents of great old ones.
Pretty sure Drizzt never worshipped Lolth, a prerequisite for gaining the chosen template. 🙂 He is a chosen of Meilikki in certain incarnations though.
Not sure about that … being chosen is more about the gods interest in you not yours in it! We’ve had a few stories about FR gods choosing individuals to accomplish something important and that person wasn’t a follower.
If your going to do a Driss episode it better be a big long episode lol When I found out about him months ago I am loving this character more and more.

@Lamodrick Foster Actually, Elistraee could be watching over him. It is just that Salvatore has a problem with Eilistraee for some reason. Proof how it could work, Liriel Baenre is a cleric of Mystra but is still watched over by Elistraee. Remember, this is a polythestic world. People just have their favorite deities. Don't believe me? Ask Ed Greenwood. R.A. Salvatore is not the end all be all when it comes to Drow. (Even though I have enjoyed his books in the past.)

I am also glad that he does not have a final say over what happens in The Realms because I don't like what he does with the deities. In my opinion, he lets his experience with religion influence how he writes deities even though the relationship mortal have with deities in the realms is different from earth religions. (I.E. There is no question they exist in The Realms) Also, I am an atheist in real life so this is not even a religious person complaining about it.

There's the dark elves from the Elder Scrolls, Warhammer.. Norse mythology.. There's so many different ideas on the internet if you simply googled dark elf. If you wish for my interpretation of them, I will tell.
