Hurricane Weekend 2024

It’s been almost 5 days and many in our town are still without power. At our cabin, we lost a lot of trees, our shed was destroyed, our kitchen window shattered, and we have no power or water. Since we are on a well, we have been hauling water from the river to give to the pigs, ducks, chickens, and the goose.
The AirBnB was already booked. Our yard and road was utterly destroyed. The car was packed. It was time to go kayaking.
This weekend was super weird. Everything that we thought would run blew out then dropped before we got on. We got skunked on a lot of stuff and weren’t actually able to paddle nearly as much as we hoped. Upper Santeetlah, Upper Snowbird, Cheoah at 2k, Yellow Creek Falls, Overflow Creek, and high water ‘scades will have to wait.
Now that we’re back, we have a great deal of work ahead of us. Cool stuff coming soon, however :)
