Fun and startling fact: If you perform the OOB glitch in Maple Treeway and go far out of bounds, and another player uses the blue shell from the track, *It will still find you after a couple of minutes. That thing is a cold-blooded killer.*

On Bowser's Castle, I would hide on the lower section of the rotating bridge, the Spiny Shell would go past me, and by the time I go by the finish line, I'd drop into the lava; with correct timing, the Spiny Shell would yet again pass me. By the time I get to the rotating area, that's when the Spiny Shell will get me, finally.

I liked the spiny shell in this game, it traveled really fast and had a cooler lock on animation and the blast would stop the racer right on the point of impact for a really long time. And they were much more common and easier to obtain. Mario Kart 8 really nerfed the item so hard that it does none of what I just said, the whole idea of the spiny blue shell is to utterly ruin the racer in 1st place. Mario Kart Wii was my first Mario Kart game and when I first saw myself getting hit by this item while racing in grand prix I already knew exactly why it exists.
i mean sure the blast impact isn’t as bad as it doesn’t send you sky high, but i think the fact it goes along the ground and can hit players on the way makes it more useful to get ahead
@B Smig sorry for the late reply, it's not that useful since nobody stays in the middle of the road since the blue shell takes the same paths as a bullet bill so it rarely hits human players that aren't in first. Lightning and bullet bills are the only useful items in the back.
There is SO many spiny shells is Mario kart Wii and when u think u r safe 2 frontrun, u hear that damn noise and realize u t screwed ☠️☠️☠️ And in this game it punish u so badly 😭. They dont travel as fast as the one in Mario kart 8 becuz on mk8 it travel cannon speed but here its like u 15 seconds faster
