I rewatch the Chunin exams like once a year because it’s so epic. I remember watching it as a kid and trying to convince my mom the chakra circulatory system was real.
I think another very important point is that suddenly chakra was infinite for everyone, remember when kakashi said he is only able to perform the chidory 4 times a day ? Or how sasuke was out of chakra against itachi after some awesome fireball jutsus and so on ? Later in the series they just spam their ultimate jutsus over and over again, kakashi spams his kamui, ofcourse the antagonists have infinite chakra too. Also suddenly they didnt need to perform handsigns anymore. Remember how special it was to see a shinobi who performed handsigns with only one hand so they were able to cast jutsus in very difficult situation ? After the ten tails it was only explosions and more explosions.
After reading this comment I just realized that maybe kakashi's kamui spamming isn't just as ridiculous as people think. I think when he died in the pain arc, his mongekyou blindness meter (let's just pretend that's a thing) was reset. That means five kage summit and on, kakashi uses his mongekyou as much as sasuke did agianst killer bee and the five kage. But then when guy was fighting madara, kakashi says he's starting to go blind from the mongekyou which I think is weird cuz he's been using it the whole time
I really hated that, Kakashi invented raikiri when he was like 13? So in part 1 after 13 years aprox he can only do it 4 times. 3 years later he spammed it infinitely, damn that three years were really productive
Ahmet Hakan I agree, as the series progressed it definitely started to suffer from the same issues as DBZ (Infinite power creep to the point of being unbelievable in a negative sense)
Team Guy was done dirty. Rock Lee had the potential to become someone on Naruto's level. Neji's death felt unneeded like only for Naruhina to come together. And Tenten could have become a weapons genius if she as given more time to develop.
Either might guy should have died, or neji’s death should have been a “team guy+hinata” moment, not a naruhina moment. I hate how Naruto has to be involved in everything
@@hellothere10yearsago97 what do you expect? His name is literally the title of the anime. Besides, they barely had moments before then. It was usually just Hinata being a flustered mess and Naruto being clueless, so I see why that was the decision.
Orione Ervins yes, that is true. But she is also useless. Atleast Sakura could heal people, tenten is just plain useless, her powers won’t work against stronger opponents, she would get whooped by every reanimated ninja in the war if she fought any of them 1v1. She is the weakest from her Generation.
You aren’t wrong about the Rock Lee vs Gaara fight. My Mom sat down in the living room while I was watching that fight about 6 years ago and she ended up watching the whole show and finishing the manga with me and my brother lol
When you kinda think about it, TenTen is the only TRUE ninja. She uses the tools and stuff, and the reason why she is so useless and weak is cuz she was born into the wrong world. A ninja who was born into a world of wizards, and she still lives. Edit: Also Rock Lee but without the gates thing
Im surprised how Naruto is just a ninja show, with strategies, kunai, sword and basic jutsu. And somehow turn into fighting alien with ridiculous reality dimension power that broke the own anime power system
@@Shepard4Life Believe me, I've done that. Even the actual important episodes had flashbacks within them, or it's just drawn out way too long. There's usually lots of staring between each character with music in the back. For example, when Sasuke tried to kill Sakura. The battle with him, Naruto, and Kakashi was expanded to four episodes which was so unnecessary. I'm one of those people that gave up on Naruto because of that reason. Of course, I went back to it by reading the manga. For the fights, I would just watch it on TH-cam.
Joy Joy LaRosa I’ve watched the anime like 4 times through and only just decided to pick up all the box sets last week and I have to say the manga is 100x better, the fucking fillers just ruin the atmosphere of naruto I completely agree with you saying the fillers drag out way to long.
LeRandomRayquaza2011 I can see if that breaks your emersion (pretty sure I'm spelling it wrong). But in the series defense we have known the the Ninetails was able to destroy the largest nation in the verse since the very begining. Shippuden introduced the concept of their being 8 beast relative in power + the original beast that was the manifestation of all. For plot sake their would have to be stronger ninja to combat the op monsters. Granted the hints of a MASSIVE power creep were subtle but they were there. Imo it's crazy but I love it.
Thats nothing compare to goku who went from a kid that was as strong as a bullet proof window to fighting gods and different characters from other universes
Remember when the fights in Naruto were focused on Strategy and doesnt depend on brute power and force? Like Naruto vs Kiba Naruto vs Neji Shikamaru vs Temari The chuunin exams were so epic. Its those kind of fights Ive been missing for. When strategies were so cool that even though you are not that powerful, you can take out that stronger guy by thinking on your feet. Sadly, Kishimoto doesnt care about those things anymore and the plot now relies on broken jutsus and overpowered abilities. Its turning into a DBZ-ish show and it lost the thing it was unique for.
My problem with some of naruto’s fights is that they are sometimes too dragged out. They would speak, stare at each other, plan attack for waaaaaay too long
They should have made it so that throughout history Indra always beat Ashura until Narutos incarnation where he breaks the cycle. I think that would have been better.
Not just him. Kaguya too. Ramen guy is still hiding his secret Six Paths Mode. He was reincarnation of Hagoromo Otsutsuki. That's why Kishimoto made him a regular chef in a local restaurant. He was just way too OP and story would easily be uninteresting.
Honestly for me it went downhill when they started introducing them aliens like when Kaguya was revealed as the final villain I was like dafuq?? Madara was hyped as the final boss for such a long time y dafuq should we care about some alien we never heard about before?? It felt very anti-climactic for me esp for something that I've been watching since childhood.
I agree - no one cared about kaguya because she came in at the last minute. Madara should have been the last boss. I didn’t like how naruto turned into a zombie tv show.
Mmmm Scrumptious Orochimaru barely being relevant in Shipudden after the whole of the original series made him out to be the big bad guy was the worst part when the show started.
The problem was the fact that they went from silent killers to literal gods among men. Ninja tools are pretty much useless and I’m surprised they were still using them in war. Stealth plays like no part anymore since everyone at this point is a sensory type or they simply just bust down the door and walk up to them. The power scaling is so massive that realistically on earth there are 2-4 people actually capable of fighting a Ostutski. Everyone else is pretty much fodder at this point. I get it someone has to be at the top and stronger, but this turned from basically Iron man to Avengers endgame levels of power.

Anyone remember how blood pumping the fight between Sasuke and Orochimaru in the death forest was? That intense music running, + the taijutsu and insane maneuvers.
I hated the reincarnation and prophecy arch too. It kind of defeated the whole point of Naruto vs Neji fight and the message that no one but you is in charge of your fate. Plus Naruto was a great protagonist because he had to work hard for everything, it didnt come natural to him he had the kyuubi but it was more a burden he turned into an advantage. It made readers feel that they can achieve there goals to and the whole destiny element ruined it.
Hadès I only kept watching for reanimated Madara. Boys a beast 👌it’s those little things that kept me watching shippuden other then that it got lost in the plot.
What really pissed me off was that Kishimoto introduced a bunch of new, interesting characters in Part 1 during the Chuunin Exams but then just wasted so many of them, as a lot of them like Tenten never really got much of a role in the story. One important aspect of writing is that if you add something to the story, it better count. For example, if you put a gun up on a wall and bring attention to that gun in one scene, in another scene the gun better be used. Otherwise, it's just wasting time, and it feels like it was wasting time getting to see cool characters like Shino in action during the exams ultimately to never see him do anything significant. Speaking of those characters by the way, Neji's death also served no purpose...like, we haven't had our attention on him for years, who can even remember him well enough to care? It just came out of nowhere, with no foreshadowing whatsoever, and if Kishimoto was going for an unpredictable brutal death he shouldn't have done the cliche'd "holding them in your arms as they die." My point is though, the Konoha 11 deserved better.
Neji's death served a purpose, but was not needed. Any random shinobi could have died in Naruto's arms, with a whole flashback episode to show that Naruto cared. That's how relevant Neji was up until he died. It impacted Naruto, but didn't give that fight any more weight because no one other than Naruto had cared about Neji since he practically became a side-character. A fight is only given weight when the readers are invested in the characters. Hence why the Kakashi VS Obito or Naruto VS Sasuke final fight being regarded so well. If the final fight had been Naruto VS Random Ninja #36, would all the taijutsu have mattered? No one would've cared if it was Naruto VS Shino or Naruto VS Tenten.
It's a concept called "Chekhov's gun". It doesn't "have" to be used, but generally, you shouldn't add unnecessary details to your story. My main gripe is that Kishimoto barely explored the other villages like he did with Konoha. Konoha has multiple strong clans, like the Hyuga, the Uchihas and other groups with wacky abilities like Choji's family and Shikamaru's shadow possession with a story of long conflict. The final war is mainly managed by ninjas from Konoha, which is stupid as hell. In the sand village, there's the puppet thing and then... that's it. There's the village with the floating kages, that's it. There's the village with black people using lightning jutsus, that's it. There is no depth, and those villages are never explored to the extent Konoha was explored. It would have been a better story if there were direct fights and conflicts against the other villages instead of going straight with Akatsuki as the first villains, which basically gives a reason for other villages to cooperate since they have a common enemy.
That tip about only adding stuff that counts in your story is not quite right. I'm currently reading the cookbook that was inspired by the many recipes found within the Game of Thrones books. None of the meals described in the books serve any purpose plot-wise, and none of them "counts", as in, none of them move the story forwards. The author has received a lot of crap about detailing these meals down to how they smell or how they look, and yet the story wouldn't be the same without the sum of all of the seemingly meaningless details like these. Just like in real life, not everything that you'll get to experience will be absolutely key to the person you'll become, and not everyone you meet will shape you. And yet you can't deny those things and people are out there, whether you like it or not. Maybe Tenten was just there. Maybe Neji just died.
Well his death had a purpose and it was that Naruto and Hinata could end up together I`m not even kidding that his the reason why Kishimoto killed of Neiji just because of a horribly done pairing that needed a characters death so that it could happen
To be honest, "here's a list of all the characters in class & you just guess which ones are important" was a pretty unimaginative way to introduce characters. In a well-flowing story, you'd meet each character as they become relevant, so nothing gets wasted and the setup is valuable.
lol that an exaggeration, the most played flashback is played 8 times ( I counted when I rewatched) It was naruto and jiraya talking about hatred and shit and how jiraiya was going to pass it on to naruto
i feel that tenten should have gotten a flashback tho, even if she wasn’t as mainstream. the characters in the fillers even got flashbacks so kishi could’ve given her one
Well nowadays in the age of streaming it might be annoying, but back when we were kids and that stuff was basically only on TV I personally was grateful for the flashbacks of the episodes I didn’t get to watch.
Remember when Kekegenkai was like the most OP thing. Also when the Shadow Clone jutsu was a forbidden technique, and only high level jonin could make a few.
Rock Lee is better at being Naruto than Naruto himself. What i mean by that is Rock Lee was like Naruto bullied by his "friends" not knowing any Jutsu's and overall being weak student in the academy, but both Naruto and Rock Lee trained the difference is that Rock Lee had nothing and came out on the top while Naruto was a member of one of the strongest clans in existence and he had a Tailed Beast power inside him.
Naruto: "I'll turn myself into a big shuriken to be thrown with a another big shuriken then turn back to normal and attack him from behind." Naruto Shippuden: "he blocked my kamehameha with his big bang attack, guess i'll have to use a bigger kamehameha"
In my opinion the peak of Naruto was the Pein arc. Everything else after that kinda felt redundant. Naruto got his goal of being acknowledged and his character arc basically ended there.
@@knownname190 The problem there is that there was a ton of stuff that didn't really get us closer to that goal, or only opened up more questions. IMO I would've only wanted like 40-50 more episodes at most to wrap up Sasuke and "Madara", show off the characters a little more, get Naruto to come to an understanding with Kurama, and that's about it. Not a whole war. (that also introduces even more characters we have to keep track of)
@Sados59 Maxi I was thinking of that number of episodes without counting fillers as a part of it... it would probably be possible imo, especially if the show went easier on all the dramatic pauses, the general tendency to drag shit out, and shortened up the flashbacks I could still be wrong, but either way, I just don't think a whole fourth war was a necessity.
I also found the power levels to be perfect during the Pain arc. Pain was supposed to be the super powerful villain, and it showed. Naruto also showed he was the strongest in the village, however the fight still required strategy to win.
No it didn't. And I hated talk no jutsu. That is why I like one piece more... But still, Naruto was one of the best animes I have ever seen, so I have no complains from it except talk no jutsu and the so called "otsusuki clan". Otsusuki ruined naruto in my opinion.

I can definitely agree that Naruto was in it's golden age during Part 1, in which it was a brilliant coming of age story about a kid who wanted to become the greatest ninja in his village. The filler episodes were definitely what harmed the series in the long run though, and it actually caused me to drop off the series for quite some time. I came back about a year or so later, but then dropped off a year or so later. I recently came back this year, but this time it's to actually finish the series.
Manga is better than the show I think. No filler, but I still think it fell off later in the series. Things just get too crazy and don't flow as well. Though I also heard that it wasn't meant be drawn out as long but it was forced basically.
Masterge77 I stopped watching it for 6 or so years, came back and watched until chapter 103 when the 3 tailed beast filler ended and I didn't continue, it became a chore watching it.
@@unreal4good367 Basically. he was just the latest in a long line of reincarnations of a ninja demigod. most of his early struggles are due to a lack of adequate teaching. Early on, he learned the shadow clones in just a couple of hours using a ninja scroll. So, he's not an idiot. He's just very lazy and expects things to come to him with 0 effort.
@@rabbss830 That is demonstrably bullshit. He's *clearly* got the the Uzumaki natural chakra reserves and his mother's aptitude for being a jin-grand-cherokee. He ends up using the demon’s power more than his own, making sage mode rather useless. What a waste
@Mehmet Sarikaya I know the 3rd was trained by the 1st but I have no recollection of blood or family ties. But if you meant Naruto, then yes, in a sense he's a descendant of Hashirama.
The characters just ended up being too fucking op to the point where it’s like are these people even considered ninjas anymore. They might as well put these characters in db super and I wouldn’t even know they were from naruto. Naruto and sasuke at their fight, they were literally flying in the air and dropping ki blasts to each other like wtf. What happened to hand signs and pure fighting with fists and kicks.
Completely agree with you. They tried to bring the hand signs in that last fight, that's true. But man, you're right that that whole taijutsu-hand signs-strategy amazing parts of Naruto were forgotten completely. Too bad. Like in the end noone even needed to use any hand signs to use Jutsus. I freaking remember myself being amazed by Haku using 1 hand to use a Jutsu that even Kakashi was freaked out. And then we have shitbombs dropping everywhere, justsus being casted and everyone suddenly has infinite mana and no need for hand signs. meh
Naruto Shippuden was ruined by the overpowered abilities. Remember when the height of power was watching the 3rd Hokage fight Orochimaru and the resurrected 1st and 2nd Hokage? It was all about using a bunch of elemental jutsus against each other. It was about being quick and outwitting your opponent, like when Kakashi fought Zabuza. Then of course, Naruto was a downtrodden loser, but then became a "chosen one" which means the early evil Neji was right that you can't change your fate or destiny.
I personally thought shippuden was amazing aside from most of the filler, for me growing up with Naruto part 1 was very special to me however everyone I knew who watched it always talked shit about Naruto's character. I thought this series was great for character building and story I don't understand how it was ruined by overpowered abilities that were for the most part already in part 1, it's not like they pulled stuff like the Rinnegan, amaterasu and other kekkai genkai or tota out of their ass or anything. Plus you're acting like elemental chakra styles played no role at all, like Naruto didnt even know his chakra element was wind based until he started training to use rasen-shuriken. I do agree some stuff was unnecessary but overall it was a pretty good sequel.
Derek Richardson exactly. Rock Lee fell into shadow, Neji was killed for other Shinobi. I still think the talk-no-jutsu scene with Neji holds value in the arc overall, but it is really conflicted in light of the entire series pointing to Naruto being the 4ths son given the Kyubii, and gave fans the wrong idea about who our hero was, and where the show was going.
Also, we didn’t need to scale much beyond the powers of Pain. He was the end. The Hokage level surpassed. All the Akatsuki fights had been immensely interesting to that point, but the Kage summit arc felt the need to one up it for some reason, and then of course the war arc came along and one upped it again. If not for that I think the scale at the end of the show could’ve been less repugnantly similar to Dragonball’s Boo arc.
Naruto is a soy boy who wants attention. The writer wants to tell the story that effort will win over talent and naruto keeps yelling about "hard work" and "dont giveup"... when he is actually naturally gifted being born with 9tail fox and his parent is a hokage and his mother is from the uzumaki clan which have lots of chakra. Hypocrite Naruto talks about effort when he is born genetically superior. Naruto just proves that in life you can only be successful if your parents is powerful or you are born with good genetics. Someone who works hard like Rock Lee will always lose to someone born superior like the fight between Lee vs Gara.
The main thing Kishimoto did wrong is : he made Konoha the focal point of the story but didn't explore village politics , Danzo Root, Konoha Elders, Yamanaka, Aburame, Yuuhi, Inuzuka Sarutobi, Akimichi, Hyuuga clans should have been explored, side characters that are important in the village - Asuma Sarutobi, Kurenai Yuuhi,Anko Mitarashi,Might Guy,Danzo Shimura,Yamato. Asuma and Kurenai were leaders of Genin Team 8 and Team 10 like Kakashi,Anko Mitarashi was Orochimaru student,Might Guy was Kakashi's rival , Yamato was Orochimaru experiment and Danzo was involved with everything that happened but Kishimoto or his editor decided not to explore , I wanted to know what were their dreams, thoughts , inner conflicts and relationships with elders and Hokage. I am just saying , if you are gonna introduce so many characters, you should at least give them a whole arc to shine without mc to steal the spotlight.
Exactly! There was so much cool stuff in part one about the village and the will of fire and SO MANY characters and then they all just get forgotten in shippudden it’s without a doubt one of the biggest disappointments of naruto
Naruto vs Pain is probably the most iconic one. That was the moment when Naruto went from being 0 to hero. Dude straight up defeated 6 with the help of frogs. And the way he returned with his gang of frogs is just pure boss. That's the moment when he also got recognized even by other villagers. So I think no one can top it. But the most meaningful fight and animation is kakashi vs obito. Hands down just pure insanity. There was so much meaning behind that fight

Honestly.... The best thing about naruto was individualism, choices, self improvement, finding a code a code and sticking to it. Each arc glimmers theses ideas. Sasuke was a main part of the story. The entire series had to do with his Uchiha bloodline. From the nine tails attack that ended Minato, to the attack in the chuunin exams that was partially to gain Sasuke's body, to Sasuke becoming the driving force behind Naruto. Don't even get me tarted on all the background stuff Itachi pulled to kick-start events in the series as a double agent. Then on to Madara.... Need I say more? The whole story revolves around Sasuke even the main character, Naruto.

What kishimoto did not understand is that people did not wanted to see huge explosions and energy attacks, they wanted battles with handsigns, strategic movenents and kunais. If I want to see battles with huge explosions and energy attacks I would go watch Dragon ball z, super and gt(Which I have). But When I go to watch naruto fights I Dont expect those things. That for me made me switch naruto from my favorite anime regarding battles to my third favorite. First Being DB and second one piece. Too bad cause I really liked the old battles.
Bro. I agree with you. Naruto was excellent. But in Shippuden, all the jutsus were over powered. Then the whole throwing planets bs. It was too dragonball z ish. Ninjas are supposed tonbe stealth right? Well when There's energy beams and huge explosions everywhere......
I agree but the series took a downhill from the pain arc and it's universally agreed that the Pain arc was the highlight of the show. Eventhough Madara was the strongest villian, he didn't have the impact that Nagato had on the audience. Now I could deal with the child of prophecy and believe that's the most it should've stayed. Making Naruto and Sasuke the reincarnation of Indra and Asura only proved that Neji's theory about destiny is correct. NARUTO was destined to be great regardless of his past which took away what made it special..
I've finished naruto this year... And yeah, basically i agree with everything. Especially the part about tactical battles and taijutsu. That was the sauce. And the last villain being the most boring one, like, how are we able to enjoy that after Madara? Weak
You nailed it, I stopped watching Naruto when they started cutting meteors like butter. Naruto was better when the fights were more of wits and smarts than the nuclear war type it became towards the end. I miss the days when Kakashi was shrouded in mystery, or a silent genjutsu could delay an opponent, Shino's weird nature (another wasted character) and all
Yep. Shino was actually my favorite character once I saw Sasuke fighting deidara. So much nonsensical power creep meanwhile the only guy consistently using his brain? "Useless"... Meanwhile the "underdog" Naruto.(ROFL) is killing every enemy left and right because he's literally jesus...
There were early warning signs at the end of Part I, the downslide began at the start of Part II, and the end of the Pain Arc was the point of no return.
the thing with me is, Naruto itself, base 2002-2007, will be in my eyes, one fo the best piece of media in existence, and now onto my third season of Shippuden (which i enjoy alot) I can say that it lost its spark, it still an amazing show with great comedy, characters and fights, but the OG naruto always outshine it.
Naruto died imo right after the pain arc. The war arc was pretty boring until madara was thrown into the fold. My main issue with the entire naruto series was how back in pt 1 the world of naruto seemed so large. They actually used hand signs and the secondary characters actually shined. Shippuden wasn’t too bad, but a lot of the characters were thrown to the side, I mean neji was literally killed by a large piece of shrapnel. Another thing about shippuden that bothered me was how naruto and sauske basically became gods by the end. And they had to battle an alien god. But naruto as a whole manga and anime was a series of ups and downs, it had it’s really good moments and really bad ones
The most annyoing parts for me were: 1. Obsession about Sasuke. This n!gga doing bullsh*t all over the place, trying to kill friends, but Naruto still wants to get his "friend" back and Sakura is just getting wet everytime she sees him. 2. The time after the Pain Arc. Yeah, it's nice to see that Naruto finally got accepted from the village, but they should have put that way more towards the end. I liked the underdog Naruto and after that epic fight, he was kinda their Jesus and known around the whole fucking Ninja world. 3. The part where Sakura said: " Finally I caught up to these 2". Well, okay that was the funniest scene in whole shippuuden, Not annoying. 4. The damn fillers, but I must admit that some of them were just great, like the story of Kakashi / Obito and this special with these orphams and Narutos First time in this sick golden mode. 5. !SPOILER! Christopher Campbell nah
It is but Naruto is ridiculous
What do u expect ten tails to weave signs?

The problem was the fact that they went from silent killers to literal gods among men. Ninja tools are pretty much useless and I’m surprised they were still using them in war. The power scaling is so massive that realistically on earth there are 2-4 people actually capable of fighting a Ostutski. Everyone else is pretty much fodder at this point.
It just came out of nowhere, with no foreshadowing whatsoever, and if Kishimoto was going for an unpredictable brutal death he shouldn't have done the cliche'd "holding them in your arms as they die."
My point is though, the Konoha 11 deserved better.
Well his death had a purpose and it was that Naruto and Hinata could end up together
I`m not even kidding that his the reason why Kishimoto killed of Neiji just because of a horribly done pairing that needed a characters death so that it could happen
To be honest, "here's a list of all the characters in class & you just guess which ones are important" was a pretty unimaginative way to introduce characters. In a well-flowing story, you'd meet each character as they become relevant, so nothing gets wasted and the setup is valuable.
The flashbacks disgust me...especially that itachi killing his whole clan flahback...it eas shown almost 22 times

IMO I would've only wanted like 40-50 more episodes at most to wrap up Sasuke and "Madara", show off the characters a little more, get Naruto to come to an understanding with Kurama, and that's about it. Not a whole war. (that also introduces even more characters we have to keep track of)

Heroic Champion yup

Eventhough Madara was the strongest villian, he didn't have the impact that Nagato had on the audience. Now I could deal with the child of prophecy and believe that's the most it should've stayed.
At the end it was starting to become DBZ and that was the nail in the coffin Part1 of shippuden was FAR BETTER than part 2

5. !SPOILER! That Sasuke didnt die after he did fucking DARE to betray Naruto after this awesome fucking hearthbreaking Goodbye between him and Minota. Saddest momenet in the whole fucking Naruto/Shippuuden.
