    Hi @Espresso Tobi, nice video!
    What basket are you using in your portfilter please? Is it the original that come with the machine?

    • @EspressoTobi
      @EspressoTobi  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey mate, yep, that's the original one. The filter is perfect worked. But today I prefer bottomless for the better optical control. U can buy these from rancillio.

      Ok thanks for answering and sorry for my bad English btw, i just receive my silvia v6 black edition but after 1month I still cannot manage to have a 25/30secondes extraction, the longer I get is 18 sec for 14g in the original double basket. Before buying a bottomless portfilter I wanted to have ur advice maybe. Just to let you know I'm using fresh quality beans with a fine expresso grind from a roaster and I use all the barista tools 😅. (wdt temper etc etc) any idee?

      He asked about the basket, you told him about the portafilter. The larger basket that came with my machine holds 14 g. But you can get a larger basket that holds 18 g.

      @@anton6140 different beans need different grinds. You need your own espresso grinder. Also, you can't fill the basket too full, there has to be enough headroom. The tamped coffee level needs to be a few millimeters below the groove at the top of the basket. Very important.

    Not bad. I think the distributer spinny thing is kinda useless. If you wdt with the needle tool, your grinds dont need to be squashed twice. Id chuck the spinny distributer and get a tamper with a spring so you get consistent tamps. Also recommend getting a magnetic funnel. I have a rancilio with a pid and a niche zero

    What is your yield? I see you're using 18 g coffee to start, what do you output? 36 g espresso or more? It seems like some people suggest 2:1 ratio and others say target 1.5 - 2 fl oz.
    Also, what is the brand of your distributor, tamp, grinder, cloth and beans?

    • @EspressoTobi
      @EspressoTobi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hey thanks for your comment. Usually i try to get a 1:2,5 ratio. So i take 18gr. of coffee and the output is 45gr. I pull this over 23sec. Thats perfect for my beans. But what ratio u need depends on your beans.
      My distributor is from "motta". My tamp is the original one frome rancillio and the grinder is from Eureka (sepcialita).. My beans are from a local roaster called "Schamong".

      2:1 is very strong. Maybe for a double shot to be used in a milk drink (like a flat white, because cappuccino- at least in Italy - requires a single shot).
      But if you drink espresso you’d probably go for higher ratio (usually Italian espresso is 7 grams for 20 grams in the cup). If you go lower, we call it a “ristretto” and it’s very intense.

    • @EspressoTobi
      @EspressoTobi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey mate, i hope i can help u with that. A loud noise occurs when not enough air has been sucked into the milk or you have too little steam pressure. The first thing you should always do is blow out the steam lance. This will give you a dry vapor. If you then want to froth the milk, submerge the steam head slightly and give it full throttle. Then you lower the pot a little and suck in air for a moment. then lift and swirl. End :)

    • @EspressoTobi

      @@sciencescience9102 The pump doesn’t turn on when in steam mode (hard to create steam when filling a boiler with water). So after steaming you do need to run water either through the group head, or through the steam wand (no big difference, but the steam wand is preferred by some as it has a higher exit point on the boiler and thus results in a higher refill). If you don’t, you will run boiler dry and damage the heating element like you wondered.

      Hey mate, thanks for your kind words! At the moment i go with 19,5 gr. and a 1:2 Brewratio in 28 sec. But this depends mainly on the beans i use. Im from germany and got a realy good roastery near by (Schamong coffee). I use a 20 parts arabica and 80 parts robusta mix. U will only have a realy good crema if u have fresh beans. Hi there! I'm loving your setup and i kinda reflect on getting the exact machine & grinder after more reasarch and budget constraints. I have a couple of questions, if you don't mind:
    1. How much do you spend between the moment you open it until it reaches the optimal temperature?
    2. How much do you wait between after terminating extracting and starting the steaming process? I mainly drink milk based;
    3. Have you configured your OPV to 9 bars as supposed to 12 bars which is the pressure that it comes from the factory?
    4. Do you have any PIDs installed or wish to do it?
    Thanks! :D

    • @EspressoTobi
      @EspressoTobi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey !
      I can highly recommend this machine for beginners and starters. I will answer your point in the following points.
      1. Usually the machine is rdy to extract after 15 min. But to have the optimal temperature in all parts of the machine, i wait 20-25min.
      2. Thats the only thing, that make me bought a double circuit system. After extracting the espresso, u have to wait 1,5 to 2min. Then you have to drain the condensation. And then u can steam ur milk. I think for this prices the machine is awesome. And the steamingpower is also impressiv. But if u dont wanna wait this 1,5-2min, u have to invest ca.600$ more :D
      3. i did nothing on the pressure of that machine. its like out of the factory.
      4. Nope i didnt. I learnd the temperature surf. The machine is very consistend. If shes rdy with heating.. i wait a 10-20 sec before i extract. If i want to make it fast, i flash for 3-4 sec. Then the temperature is optimal.
      But if u are interested in the lelit mara x (double circuit system) watch out. I bought one and will upload a video in a few days about my workflow on it and an unboxing.

      @@EspressoTobi thanks for your answer! I mainly drink milk based, but 1.5 to 2 minutes does not sound that bad. Until the time, you clean your portafiltet, get out the milk & prepare. Does the espresso shot get too cold? I don‘t think so since you have had this setup.
      Lelit Mara is way overbudget for me ahah. I am craving an Ascaso Steel Duo PID but as my first, the Rancilio looks good too😉.

    • @EspressoTobi
      @EspressoTobi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rgav388 I know what u mean :D 1.5 to 2 minutes ist realy not that long and as u say u can do other stuff in this time. An Ascaso Steel Duo is a good machine but keep in mind its a thermoblock and the steampower isnt comparable. But i guess u will watch some reviews of this machine, so u can make ure best decision. But back to ur question. The espresso isnt getting to cold. I warm the cups with hot water, before i put the espresso into it. Than when the espresso is finisched, i put the cups on the top of the machine, because the bottomplate is hot from the boiler. So my espresso is still fine, when i put in the steamed milk.
