    Amazing review! Thanks. Small question can I change discharge current? If I make like 4Ohm 10W or 16Ohm 10W? Or how to do it to have about 1000mAh? So 2x bigger discharge current?

    • @WattHour
      @WattHour  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can change it but the device will not show correct value. I don’t advise changing the charge current but To increase the discharge current reduce the large resistor value to half and make sure it is twice is large in power. Now mosfet switch that turns On and OFF the load might not be able to handle twice as much current. Very risky.

    Hi I have a question, A battery have a certain amount of charge- discharge cycle where a cycle is (li-ion) 4.2v to 2.8v but most users never let the battery work to 2.8v. So if the battery is use till 3.4v then topped up each time how then do you determine what the charge cycle is?

    Hi WattHour! Many thanks for the didactic video. I have a problem related to the XH-M240 - I'm trying to test some batteries (GEG212 from Leica) and when I connect it to the board, it reads 6.6V even though it should be 7.4V. If I measure it with a multimeter I get the correct voltage. Depleted batteries also show 6.6V. AAA batteries shows 1.4V. Any idea what's going on?

    • @WattHour
      @WattHour  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, the module is defective. When it shows 6.6V for empty or fully charged battery, then something is wrong.

  • @BenM0
    @BenM0 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    @WattHour Hi dear Ahmad , Thanks for sharing another great video. I have a question, If we have an unknown battery how can we set the cut off voltage? is there any standard cut off value for li ion batteries?

    • @WattHour
      @WattHour  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For unknown battery type it would be very hard. It would be risky to set minimum value below allowed value . It will either permanently damage or reduce the life of the battery.

    • @WattHour
      @WattHour  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      you can't test two batteries at the same time. in the first 5 minutes I explained that we check the capacity of the battery and why. your answer is there. If your battery says it is 3000mAh and when you test it and it shows 1000mAh then you know the capacity has been reduced. if the battery is very bad you will get 500mAh instead of 3000mAh or you may get 50 or 0.

    • @lprkon72

      In case you didn't catch it the left battery is for powering the device ,only the right is for testing

    • @donaldmiller1782
      @donaldmiller1782 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The one on the left runs the tester, the one on the right is being tested. After you test one battery, recharge it and then interchange them and test the other one.

    Basically, in order to know the capacity of the battery you just discharge it with this device and wait for the correct number to be displayed on the screen. But waiting for 7 hours is not good. What if you have to check many batteries? Spending so much time is not an option. Is there a quick way to check a bunch of batteries using this device?

    • @WattHour
      @WattHour  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      the capacity unit is Ah (ampere in hour). If you have 10Ah battery, The fastest you would get is 10 hour at 1A rate or 1 hour at 10A rate. because 1x10=10. but you can have faster for example 20A in 0.5A or 40A in 0.25 hour. Now it would be very hard to have such powerful discharger. Also not all batteries allow 20A or 40A to be drained.

    • @WattHour

      I mentioned it. it uses a 5% resistor to measure the current. so 5% error.

    • @ozziefreddo7403
      @ozziefreddo7403 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WattHour This device will only give you a comparative capacity reading of cells that you test. For a "true" capacity reading you need to discharge your cell at the industry “standard” 0.2C rate. With the 10 ohm load provided, the reading will be correct only for a “1750mAh” cell. (calculations..0.2 rate for 1750 is 1750x0.2 = 350mA, assuming 3.5V during the discharge). For any other capacity, (or other assumed discharge voltage) unless you change the load resistor, you’ll need to apply a correction factor to the results if wanting to check claimed capacities.
