    Shout out Nibs! Nothing like reviving, and old friend. But of luck, I'll be watching!

      Thanks! I just discovered that Crosman has the parts diagrams available on their site. Yay! Google searches didn’t bring them up but now I know where to find them. 😄

    Yep sounds like it, I have six of them all the variants and updated them with aluminum pump rod and new cup. The parts for the new Crosman 1000 will work for your 2200. Before I changed the plastic pump rod and cup I was only getting 495Fps after I changed it out my 2200 went up to 685fps. While your updating your 2200 with new seals you should call crosman and get the new pump rod and cup.

      I’d ordered parts off eBay that came in last week. Now I just need to get into the right mindset to tackle this project sometime this winter.

    I believe you can take out the piston without disassembling the receiver, just gotta remove the barrel band and a roll pin on the pump arm, then pull out. I'd try ebay for new pump cups but I think ive seen them on amazon too

    Sounds like the intake valve. And I'm sure the pump cup should be replaced too, those get old and hard and there's no fix except to replace it. Very easy to replace the pump cup, but the whole thing will need disassembly to replace the intake valve. Might as well replace all the valves and seals while it's apart, then it will shoot great. I have a 1979 Crosman 766 that is the .177 version of that rifle, and I had to replace all the seals. There is an excellent video, besides Nib's video, for taking the gun apart and re-assembling it. It's an older video with up close views throughout, and exact step by step.

      Thanks! I believe I’ve watched that video you mentioned sometime last winter. This will be a good reason to clean off my work bench and a great project for a rainy fall day.

    It's going to be a very good air rifle only
    you do the repairs that it needs and
    shoot it a little more often. 😊⚔️⚔️

      It’ll be a winter or spring time project. 👍

  • @WalnutandSteel

    your inlet valve on the valve body isn't sealing good. letting most of each pump bleed back out.

    • @airgunsofalaska
      @airgunsofalaska  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! I kept wondering what the hissing noise was. Bummer that I’ll need to disassemble that much of the gun for a repair.

    • @WalnutandSteel
      @WalnutandSteel ปีที่แล้ว

      They aren’t too bad to get apart and back together definitely would be easier with 3 or four hands!

    Nice going, it may get better when the oil moves around the valve. I think the gasp is normal when you open the pump arm all the way the pump cup tip of the piston just goes beyond the slot and it takes in air for the downstroke. That should be normal to hear it breathing healthy. But yeah, the pump cup might have dried out a little over 30 years.

    • @airgunsofalaska
      @airgunsofalaska  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it’s likely the pump cup from what I’ve read, watched and researched over the past year.

  • @precisionrodentcontrol_PRC
    @precisionrodentcontrol_PRC ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Should be pretty simple to swap in a new pump cup. That’s where I’d start.

      I like watching his channel and seeing him get the older guns working again. Unfortunately I’m in Alaska and shipping back and forth is cost prohibitive to me for this airgun. I’ve been learning how to do some repairs and plan to eventually fix this one myself.

    Do you fix your 2200 yet? I would order a kit to fix everything, Then just fix the pump cup first and see if that 's the problem? or you can sell it to me? LOL

    • @airgunsofalaska
      @airgunsofalaska  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@gmanneod8085 No, I’ve not fixed it but I do have the parts. I just tried ordering some parts for different guns yesterday and Crosman was out of stock. I suspect part availability will become the domain of a few private airgunsmiths and prices will rise. Or maybe Crosman will have a big enough following for customization that things will survive and more private vendors will get involved?
      I just have zero faith in Daisy/Gamo management of parts availability.

    Leaves changing already that's depressing! In the words of Hank Hill 'a man only gets so many summers', at least it's a nice gun they don't make em like they used to.

    • @airgunsofalaska
      @airgunsofalaska  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It seems like summer is going by especially quick this year. It’s raining hard today.
      I really like the gun and it started making the hissing noise shortly after I got it. Kinda funny how long it hasn’t worked properly.

    • @yoitired
      @yoitired ปีที่แล้ว

      @@airgunsofalaska For sure the lousy weather has made it a short summer, maybe fall will be dryer! Yeah that gasping sound definitely doesn't sound normal. Maybe if you have a 2100 or legacy 1000 you can swap parts until it works correctly? IDK if the modern guns are compatible but that'd be the easiest way.

    • @airgunsofalaska
      @airgunsofalaska  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t mind that it’s a pneumatic, I like pumpers. In ‘85 there were only 3 choices; pumper, CO2 or spring piston for airgun power plants.
