Hi Andy, a very interesting mix of Prog you have shown. I have a good 6 or 7 of the albums shown, though I purchased most of them via a first listen on Spotify. I’m now wondering what my eldest son would say that I actually enjoy listened to some kind of prog albums 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for showing this tag. Dry January, can’t say that with regard to my latest albums purchase 🤣🤣🤣 👍
Haha. Everyone should exercise their inner prog now and then! I'm waiting for Mogwai's new album to arrive this Friday. I've got a home brew on the go, which will be ready to tap on Friday, to celebrate! Dry January? Erm... Thanks for watching, Myles. Cheers mate
Andy! Brilliant response.. I knew it would be great and I wasn't disappointed! Mono is a new band for me but they sound awesome. "post rock" is a genre I'd like to dive more into (is this like Explosions in the Sky? They're pretty big over here). Big Big Train is on my deep dive list this year but you're right, those records are absurdly expensive! That's awesome about the connection to Bev! ELO.. and Sabbath for a bite to eat! UK IS RUBBISH HAHAHAHAHAH that had me. My favorite contrarian pick yet! Love that you're on the Renaissance dive.. Prologue is the first marvelous album but they really find their sound with the streak of Ashes are Burning, Turn of the Cards, Scheherazade, and Novella.. tack on a song for all seasons as well and that is one of the best album streaks in classic prog history! Great response as always, Andy. Cheers!
Thanks Alex. Do check out some of the Post Rock bands. Explosions in the Sky is indeed one of them. Probably the most accessible. The five big ones are... Mogwai from Glasgow, Scotland Sigur Ros from Reykjavík, Iceland Godspeed You! Black Emperor from Montreal, Quebec Explosions in the Sky from Austin, Texas Mono from Tokyo, Japan Truly global! Thanks for the Rennaisance tips. Cheers mate
@@andysalbumsI’ll echo your recommendations here…I’m familiar with all of those except Mono (they have SO many albums I only now know where to start!)
Hi Andy! Love your response here- so many familiar AND unfamiliar (to me) bands/albums- glad I now have a starting point for Mono, a band I have wanted to try out for ages- so many albums it’s hard to know where to start (oooo- THERE’s a video idea!!) 🤔👍 Cheers-R
Hi Richard. I'm glad you enjoyed this one. I wanted to do something a bit different rather than just wheel out the old 70s classic prog records. A video on Mono? Here's one I did a while back (there's also one for Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, Sigur Ros and Godspeed You! Black Emperor). Have a look at this playlist; they are all in here... th-cam.com/play/PLtW840Axe11VY-VN4mSrZwuI4Vke_69s7.html&si=JIghj0fdS7-VEN23
Thanks, Steve. I'm working on a World (ish) one next, based on your questions. I may end up going a bit off-piste on that too! Thanks for watching. Cheers
Glad you like Andy Edwards Law of Three album, it's brilliant. You and I are going to fall out over UK, I love that album, it was my Holy Grail find of last year. Renaissance would have been my entry for girls don't do prog, I picked up a couple of albums by them last year, the O'Neill recommend is Nouvella, an excellent album.
I'll let you into a secret, Marc. I don't mind UK. I was being deliberately provocative for the contrarian question. It's OK, but I don't think it's as good as it should be, given the lineup. I bought it at a record fair 2-3 years ago, played it a couple of times and it's been in the rack ever since. Bad me! Thanks for watching, mate. Cheers

@ I’ll check that out 👍
Considering I’m not a classic proffer I had no issues with your choices Andy, they all seemed great to me Andy lol.

@@andysalbums I just read my comment, I have no idea where O'Neill came from, that should be "the one I'd recommend"
