    I've not bought anything new lately, I've tried many albums and not much stands out enough to want to own it, the Kamasi Washington you posted last month is probably the only one. Bat for Lashes is on my shopping list, I do like her, have a couple of her albums. I like the sound of The Third Sound and will definitely check them out 👍

    Andy, thanks for the shot out. I do appreciate you showing new music. I have been thinking about the Decembrist album but just not sure. I guess I need to stream it some. The Decemberists are a bit marmite (does that translate?), so best to stream. One of my record collector friends hated it because there was too much "country". I think he's confusing country with Americana, and there is a lot of that. Then there's the 20 minute prog epic, which goes into a noodling "reverie" in the middle. I think it is magnificent, but then I like 20 minute prog epics! Thanks for your kind words, Steve. Cheers

      btw there's a YT video of Mono performing live at a festival a few years ago playing what is probably their greatest track Ashes in the Snow. I think that is them at their best and it really gives a good impression of how they play. I'll try and find it and email you the link. It's a long track but worth watching. Like you, Dookie would be a gap filler to join American Idiot as the only Green Day I need, I'll buy it on CD done day, not bothered to buy it on vinyl. You have no Kraftwerk 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮 If you can the originals from the 70's they are worth buying, the sound quality is excellent, infact, those coloured remasters add nothing other than a fancy booklet of pictures and no info. I have the remasters on CD, excellent quality, however, my original 80's pressings are equally as good. Michael Kiwanuka, excellent 👌👌

    Bought a copy of Ride Nowhere sealed for £5 but sold it on without thought and it went very quick. Kinda regret that now as I’ve heard more and more about it. Out of interest what are the inners you use? Do you replace out the ones that come with the records?

    • @andysalbums
      @andysalbums 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Anthony. If the inners that come with the album are polylined I carry on using them, but if they are unlined card or paper I usually replace them to reduce risk of scratches and damaging the edges. Obviously I keep the originals inside the outer, but just don't use them to hold the vinyl. The inners I use are Spincare Audiophile, which I get on Amazon £32 for 100, so 30p a go. They are basically identical to Mobile Fidelity inner sleeves but half the price. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers

      The puzzle of why England are playing so badly suddenly came clear the other day. Inconsistent pressing, acres of space in midfield, players out pf position who don't have a clue what they are meant to be doing, an immobile back line. As a ManU fan it is all so familiar. Then the penny dropped... Southgate is auditioning for the ManU job! :-) Thanks for watching, mate. Cheers

      Hi Andy. I was surprised how good this is. I have a couple of their earler albums on CD and really like them.I mentioned that the final track is a prog epic, and it is, but they aren't a prog band and none of the other tracks are proggy. They are more folk-rock, though with more emphasis on rock than folk. I think what they really are are storytellers. Every track is a story set to music. Hence the album is one to read the lyrics as you're listening. Thanks for watching. Cheers

They are currently touring the states so fingers crossed they tour over here at some point. Andy

    Another great video Andy - check out Adrianne Lenker's album 'Songs And Instrumentals' which is a double album, one of tender quite stripped back songs and the second record is just her improvising on the guitar. It was recorded in lockdown I think while staying in isolation in a one room wood cabin in Massachusetts. I read somewhere that she thought the acoustics of the cabin was like living inside an acoustic guitar so wanted to record there. Thanks for the recommendations - plenty of music there to form the soundtrack to my day. Cheers - D

    Very good Andy. May has been an odd month for me, my head has not been in a very good place at all and I've not bought much new music other than the Kings of Leon and St. Vincent. I really love that Black Crowes album and I'm on a quest to get into their back catalogue. I'd say give the Black Keys some repeated listens, it is growing on me. There are two fads at the moment that are leaving me cold, one is spoken word and the other is depressing, whiney female singers, I could never get on with whiney male singers. I recently downloaded four albums from artists I'd seen on Jools Holland, my opinion of all of them is the same; they are good, listenable but ultimately do not jump out and grab me and say they must be in my collection. Which brings me to Beth Gibbons, I saw her on Jools Holland, and beating in mind my mental health is not great at the moment, I was completely underwhelmed by her, in fact id forgotten what it was like the instant it finished, I maybe need to approach that in a better frame of mind. I will check out a couple of those you've mentioned. Keep up the good work 👍

    • @andysalbums
      @andysalbums 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I think you might quite like the Milo Kebinski album. Worth steaming a bit anyway. Possibly also the Lucy Rose. Not at all whiney, just nice songs and a decent accompanying sound. Also I'm getting lots of feedback on Adrianne Lenker. It seems she is well regarded by a lot of my subscribers who are recommending other albums and also from her band Big Thief. I really like it but it is very paired back and you might not be in the right mood just now. Still worth checking out a track or two. Funnily enough I watched Jools last night after my call after your and Alan's gig. I was the oppposite tbh. I was completely underwhelmed by the Black Keys and it sort of confirmed my decision not to buy the album. I thought the rapper was more interesting tbh. But Beth was superb. Thanks for watching, Marc. Cheers mate

      @@andysalbums there is a post script to my comment, when I made it I'd only watched half Jools Holland, my reaction was based on Beth Gibbons opening number. Now I've watched it all, I quite liked the second one she did. I like the rappers's second number, not the first. I really enjoyed The Black Keys, that album makes me happy when I listen to it, I'm still singing Everybody's On The Game now, a real ear worm song. The album has a different feel, not so much blues rock. We're all different, we all listen to music for different reasons. The ones you mentioned were not the ones I picked out 😅😅 I went for Diiv and Kamasi Washington, but I've downloaded the others too. I only noticed on Thursday that Lucy Rose appeared on the Manics album of 2013, as did Richard Hawley. Maybe why that's my least favorite Manics album 😅

Massive Attack agrees with me. They did an album with the Neapolitan group Almamegretta, which is a real cracker. And there are so many others, quite an array for just one town. Try 24 Grana - Loop or Giovanni Block - SPOT or EPO - Enea. All really great listens.

    Nice one Andy, you took a couple I would naturally have picked, but here's my list: Inform, Educate, Entertain - Public Service Broadcasting, Junior - Röyksopp Killer - Iron Maiden, Lizard - King Crimson, Moon Shaped Pool - Radiohead, Not Accepted Anywhere - The Automatic, Only By The Night - Kings of Leon, Powerage - AC/DC, Quatermass - Quatermass

    Nice one Andy, I have every album except The Beatles (not really welcome in Chez Perry) and World Party, and of those I have, all on vinyl except the Black Sabbath and Steve Hillage. Off the top of my head: 5 - J. I. Cale, ( ) - Sigur Ros, Axe Victim - Bebop Deluxe, Build a Rocket Boys - Elbow, Clear Air Turbulence - Ian Gillan Band, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap - AC/DC, Everything Must Go - Manic Street Preachers, Foxtrot - Genesis, Grace - Jeff Buckley, Head Hunters - Herbie Hancock 👍

      Thanks, Marc. Nice selection. I was trying to avoid covering albums I've talked a lot about, which ruled out ( ), Foxtrot and Grace. That and the need for something from the 60s prompted me to include Abbey Road. When we get to the back end of the alphabet there are three letters where I have a choice of one for each! And one of those is a CD. Thanks for watching, mate. Cheers

    Andy, are you now a Beatles channel? I like the Beatles, I have all their albums but I ever pull them to play. I just enjoy the music from 76 forward which is my mid teens and forward. The Public Broadcast album was my first from them and I loved it, something new and different. What a nice way to show some of your albums in your collection but then I would have to figure out albums by titles, seems like a lot of work for me Andy

    • @andysalbums
      @andysalbums หลายเดือนก่อน

      Haha. I'd have a bit of competition on the Beatles front! I only have a couple of albums plus rhe red and blue comps. I was trying to avoid records I've talked about a lot and I needed at least one from the 60s. I could only do this because I've been cataloguing my vinyl records on a spreadsheet. The problem is I've only input up to about J (band-wise) plus all the new releases I've bought over last couple of years, so I'm missing loads in the alphabetical sort, There are three letters in the second half of the alphabet that I could only think of a single record I have and one of those is a CD! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment, Steve. I know how busy you are right now. Cheers, mate

I want something that I could not find in the states. Those albums you found in Portugal were very intriguing especially the first two There is a ton of great psych rock coming out now.

D Kasabian - 48:13 Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin II Level 42 - Level 42 Lone Star - Firing on All Six John Martyn - One World Pearl Jam - Ten Santana - Santana III Sky - Sky 2, Sky 3, Sky 4, Forthcoming, Sky 5 Live Ok, I'll stop now.
