"don't embarrass me in front of the Laphroaig 25" 🤣 Truly impressed at how you've convinced a community of people to send you amazing bottles rather than keep them for themselves. Well done and great review.
My dad is a huge Laphroaig fan and my sister and I bought this as a gift for him when he turned 70 a few years ago. This is most definitely a delicious whisky.
It turns out, if the whisky is TRULY EXCEPTIONAL we get a video that's actually over 80% review as opposed to the standard of 80% shenanigans and stories!
I've had different Laphroaig 25y CS Versions and two 30yo in my Glass. Awesome whiskys! Last year, to my 40th Birthday, i managed to get a Sample of the 40yo. What a dream! 😊
I have the same exact bottle sitting buried far away from eyes that was gifted to me 4.5 years ago. Watching this video makes me want to open it. But I'm still waiting for a very important event to happen in the next 6-12 months that would be worthy of this bottle.
I never really noticed the huge difference in tallness between Daniël and Rex, to me it always been just a wee difference. All changed until Rex sat down at 4:41 and still managed to look Daniël straight in the eye. And now I can't unsee it anymore. My life is forever changed.
I was able to get several bottles of the Laphroaig 30yo at a criminally low price before crazy whisky days began and I just had to go get a 1/2 oz of my last 50ml stash during this review to compare. That antique leather and coating texture is miles above 90% of what is available now. Yum!
Not a huge fan of smoke but you guys talk about Laphroaig so much so I bought a bottle of Laphroaig 10yr today. First impressions, it's really nice. I wasn't expecting the sweetness. I am looking forward to sitting with this one and really explore it.
Great episode here, I have two bottles opened from 2008 and 2009 cask strength both are very similar on the nose, palate and finish with less smoke than the standard core expression.
Want advice - love lag 16 and ardbeg oog but really cant stand frog 10, there's something missing from it, it feels empty in the middle, all wood and medicine without the savory meal quality of the other two. But, BUT I'm assuming that I may like a stronger offering that rounds out the flavors more - I am considering the cask strength and especially the sherry cask. Should I give it a shot?
Laphroaig 25 (not cask strength) is by *far* the best I’ve ever tasted. Had a sample at my bachelor party. Still stick to Lagavulin 16 for budgetary reasons, but totally agree with you on starting with 25 vs 10. Two very different Laphroaig beasts.
Laphroaig 10 is still my favorite whisky but I have yet to find an older one I like as much. I have a 16 and an 18 year bottle and the reason I still have them is they are good but not as good as the 10.
Aging Laphroaig reduces the bite of the peat. Period. It softens it out so it doesn’t kick you in the stones anymore. Thus, why 10 and quarter casks are so awesome and the very old ones are, well, mainly cool for age snobs. 😅
Really?!! Very interesting. Laphroaig 10 and it's variations (cask strength/Sherry finish/PX) are some of my favorite Whiskies. I have a 16 year that I have not opened yet.... so this is very helpful! I was planning on having the 10 first when I opened the 16, but it sounds like I should not have anything for a couple weeks before trying the 16 🤔
It is not directly related to this video, but one of the TH-cam commercials I've been seeing on the channel lately is for Publix grocery stores. The narrator sounds uncannily like Rex's serious hushed tone voiceover from the Crowded Barrel or field trip videos.
I noticed in some of the tribe episodes the experimental ingredients getting distilled that there is not much filtering being done. What is a usual level of filtering that is done to a mash bill before distillation as I would imagine that if a large amount of material was left in that it could dramatically change the flavour when heated. Would be interesting to do an experiment where you run two distillation batches one heavily filtered one not filtered at all.
ABV bung would be like a steak thermometer. like how has that not been done? also watching you guys so excited about a whiskey was something I haven't seen for a while and that was awesome
Imagine how many rare whisk[e]y molecules have passed through that stache... imagine how may have embedded themselves into it. I'm now a firm believer that all non-alcoholoic whisk[e]ys are actually stache water.
I don't even like whiskey and have tried many different ones to prove it. lol However had this by accident one time (not this but the 10) and can honestly say it is the only whiskey I have ever had that did not taste repulsive. Was surprised did not expect to like a scotch especially a speyside.
In a lot of cases, Whiskey/higher proof alcohol is something you need to force yourself to like. A lot of people start by mixing it with soda or starting with flavored whiskey. Others need to force themselves to do a shot of it every day until their pallet developes. Others need to have two different pours and drink side by side for comparison to pick out the differences. Some water it way down and slowly go up in proofing so they get used to the alcohol. But either way, there will be a day where you all of a sudden like 'something' In the juice. And the joy of finding flavors you like makes you keep on it until you one day love whiskey as a whole.
Hey guys! What did the trash can say to the Mooch and whisk(e)y Somm.? Go ahead, take a Shot! Day 27 of asking for a Magnificent Bastard trash can shot cam!
I am a whisky lover, and I love your channel, but I find the concept, "Patron Saint of whisky" offensive. There's nothing wrong with the term, a Saint is a Saint, who in my belief and faith, (together with hundreds of millions of RC around the world) is given utmost respect. Calling your top donors as patron saint is a bit off (at the very least) for me. Thanks for your in-depth reviews of my favorite brand, Laphroaig!
So, I love smoky whiskey. Lagavulin, Ardbeg, Bruichladdich, Talisker, Highland Park, even High West Campfire are all great, some of my favorite whiskies even. But Laphroaig is f***ing disgusting to me. The buning-used-bandaid flavor overpowers any nice flavors in the whiskey. So my question is, did the 25 years remove that flavor or at least tame it down significantly? I want to like Laphroaig, but every version I've had makes me wish I had ordered water instead.
@13:20 Oh hell yes.... i can budget out $50 to get my name on the wall a heck of a lot easier than shopping for something that already isn't there and then trying to ship it.
I love watching your guys channel and it's cool that everybody always sends in bottles for you to review or try. It would be cool if you guys flip the script and sent people out bottles. Just have random winners that you guys send bottles of whiskey to I'm sure Rex or somebody in that area can get creative with giveaways
You guys are the equivalent of Top Gear. Cars I will never drive. Whiskey I will never drink.
Somebody needs to make an edit of them driving whiskey bottles around a racetrack to the Top Gear music
"don't embarrass me in front of the Laphroaig 25" 🤣 Truly impressed at how you've convinced a community of people to send you amazing bottles rather than keep them for themselves. Well done and great review.
No 💩. First thing I was thinking myself.
My dad is a huge Laphroaig fan and my sister and I bought this as a gift for him when he turned 70 a few years ago. This is most definitely a delicious whisky.
Great present! He will love you for that.
I really feel like they should have invited Emma back for this episode.
I feel like they probably did.
Special, indeed.
It turns out, if the whisky is TRULY EXCEPTIONAL we get a video that's actually over 80% review as opposed to the standard of 80% shenanigans and stories!
I come here for the reviews but I stay for the shenanigans and stories.
Daniel is no longer a Somm, he and Rex have become Master Mooches.
I also agree that Daniel has switched from Somm to Mooch
I've had different Laphroaig 25y CS Versions and two 30yo in my Glass. Awesome whiskys!
Last year, to my 40th Birthday, i managed to get a Sample of the 40yo. What a dream! 😊
Giving is so better than receiving. Seeing people you really like enjoying a gift for them is the bomb. Mat from Adelaide, South Australia.

Yeah, Rex is like 80% torso.

I loved the description of Smokey nuance in the whiskey.
Absolutely perfect.
Just bought my first bottle of islay of scotch and it happened to be Laphroaig 10 and im in love
Hey, it's my bachelor party gift bottle! Now used for special occasions.
That's easily the BEST Rex reaction has had to a whiskey on this channel. Genuine and without words... With 1 exception 😉

I'd say definitely try the sherry cask!
I love laphroaig. I wish i could afford this one
That's where the subtle art of mooching comes in...
Just start a youtube channel and people just send you shit for free.

3:44 If the probe is attached to the bong, and the mechanism to change the batteries and reset the thing is on the outside, that could damn well work.
The best Description I’ve heard of Laphroaig is wet mittens on the radiator
This is a dream dram for sure. Awesome poor and thanks for the video you MBs!
Here in Ireland quite a lot of people still burn peat in their fires, so that first autumn fire smoke just makes me want peated whiskey :p
Cool review dudes, I will live vicariously through you guys on this one. Charred proteiny ends of the BBQ brisket sounds interesting though.
Ahhhh, my Islay love, my first foray into scotch, the blessed beverage that begat my burgeoning buyout from the local markets. 😋🥃 Laphroaig is my lady
Never had the 25, loved the 18, but was noticing the Laphroaig character that I loved was fading away (according to my unsophisticated palate).
I have ordered lots of whiskies over the years (mainly Laphroaig) and only one broke during transit. But the package really smelled great.
Laphroaig 10 is still my favorite whisky but I have yet to find an older one I like as much. I have a 16 and an 18 year bottle and the reason I still have them is they are good but not as good as the 10.
yeah I find aged whiskies are getting too easy to drink and not as exiting as the younger version

I’m jealous! This is the one whiskey I’m dying to try!
My first 25y old whisky i bought, amazing stuff
ABV bung would be like a steak thermometer. like how has that not been done? also watching you guys so excited about a whiskey was something I haven't seen for a while and that was awesome
There are 2 other whiskies unreviewed hidden somewhere... :)
Man thats the best smoke scent around!
Well done Cliff!
This would be a fantastic bottle to try.
When you guys talk off camera, do you find yourself facing the same direction as if there's a camera in front of you, instead of facing each other? 😀
Are you going to have special categories like a full Schappert or a Peter Golden?
GOOD MORNING YOU MB'S.... 🥃
TGIRWF 😂
Should make a cocktail at the bar called Daniel’s Stash Water
Can you do Buchanans master blend for me?
Magnificent as always
I WANT IT ! NOW !!!!!
Serious question. Very serious. Can you save this for October 6th?
7:38 that dirty little Hobbit mooched another pour. The Master Mooch's powers are waning.
Doing a donation $ is how I did my birthday review
For a medley of comparisons take two newly filled barrels and put one of them inside a sealed pressurized container
Peat was not the only wood being expressed in this tasting.
Fresh fireplace or firepit smoke, new wood on a new fire - cool fall morning, right before you make lunch off the lake...
Maybe make a shell to go around casks
Daniel's smoke note 🤌🤌🤌
"Stash Water" needs to be put on a product naming pole for the tribe!!! LMAO
Imagine how many rare whisk[e]y molecules have passed through that stache... imagine how may have embedded themselves into it.

That Pumpkin Spice thing is real and probably will be in Michigan next week ....We haven't had a summer yet...Spring -Fall!
In Honor of the 25 year Laphroaig, I cheers with my Ardbeg coffee mug. 🤣😛
Quarter cask is perfect for my taste buds.
Awesome video
Rex went full Lucille Bluth in the beginning 😆
You guys lightly touched on Jameson black barrel once, how about a review
They taste it at 7:18
Great stuff as always.
I had the 18 yr cask strength. It was a different experience.
Wow so envious 😮😅
How much spare time do you give yourselves in between episode shoots?
Happy Friday MB's, Be Safe this Weekend :)
oh shit - are you telling me there is still going to be the crazy bastarding/titaning video clips? Could they at least be at the end?
Damn, a store near me still has one. Many hundreds of doll hairs....it might be time for me to pick up a paper route.
Cheers from Brasil!
Yeah this isn't something I'm gonna afford soon but you're damn right I'll watch it... I'll love it. You magnificent bastards
Awesome!! I looooove laphroaig
Is it really a Isla, if the smoke doesn't punch you in the face?
'Tom Selleck's Stash Water' would be a best seller.
I don't even like whiskey and have tried many different ones to prove it. lol However had this by accident one time (not this but the 10) and can honestly say it is the only whiskey I have ever had that did not taste repulsive. Was surprised did not expect to like a scotch especially a speyside.

Daniel: SHUT UP REX, I"M INTO THE SECOND GLASS! AND I MIGHT DRINK THE REST OF THIS BOTTLE.
My liquor store that I work at just got Laphroaig 34 for 1199 USD. Do I start saving?? Update: Someone bought it today for $1295!
watching this while drinking the shittiest whisky known to man is truly an experience
WHERE DO I FIND THIS??????
Nevermind. I can't afford $500. 🤣
I have no idea why but I get such a laugh out of watching these two grown guys ooogling over smelling their fingers.
Looks like this was a enjoyable experience fancy
I'm so jealous right now😢😢😢😢
true bunghole knowledge always the end goal...
I bet Brianna can tell us all about "feel good smoke"🤣
Hey guys! What did the trash can say to the Mooch and whisk(e)y Somm.? Go ahead, take a Shot!
Day 27 of asking for a Magnificent Bastard trash can shot cam!
Yes, but is it worth $500?
Possibly? :)
Robo-bung (tm)?

Which level of donation will guarantee that Rex gets a second pour of the good stuff, but Daniel doesn’t?
Don’t think we didn’t notice, Daniel.

Does it make sense to age a whiskey 25 years in the Texas climate?
my uneducated guess is no.. whisk(e)y jerky is not a thing...
So you want to eat a whisky flavored barrel?
That is what I was thinking but I don't make whiskey
I am soooooooo jealous!! 😮
@13:20 Oh hell yes.... i can budget out $50 to get my name on the wall a heck of a lot easier than shopping for something that already isn't there and then trying to ship it.
Thank you, out of the blue I will now need to say at my next tasting... "Rub it on your hands. Old book store."
Ron Jeremy stash water … here’s to fighting, stealing and drinking
Happy weekend y’all 👋🏼
8:44 Man that is beautiful!
You guys used to drink from the same whiskey glass. Rex, methinks thou doth protest too much.
Is it just me? But I almost expected Daniel to tell Rex to smell his fingers... like a Gynecologist lol
