Great video, I always look for Mordhau's billhook content :) I was the billhook freak since probably beta stage of Mordhau, I love it to this day because: - stab turncaps on this bad boi are great, very fluid and managable, very punishing to players that like to circle around - negative pushback is unique for that weapon, so it brings some quirkiness to the table - range - I like to prevent headbutting, combined with pushback I had a lot more control over opponents - mounted players takedown - it was even more useful before patch, that made it possible for more variety of weapons paired with horseman speed - I even noticed that players choosed bill more often on Frontline because of this feature (mainly on horssroads map) - it has interesting medieval origins and was popular weapon of infantry on the battlefields, so it suits that "historical accuracy" need, minor thing, but always nice - it never was a meta weapon (quite interesting how matches changing with every patch - zwei, evestar, axes, exec sword) and I always like to use "just ok" or quirky weapons like quarterstaff but...but people complained about bill "broken animations", especially on ranked duels, I didn't notice it myself when fighting against billman opponent, but it stayed in my head to the point that currently I switched mainly to poleaxe - I like it's versatility and decent range, but had to adapt to lower turncap. But yeah...always nice to see somebody using it on frontline/invasion around flying war axes and execs.
Skillhook was one of my favorite weapons to cover. It's fun to jump around and stab people in the eye with it. Plus if you can accel and overhead drag it will hit before they can even see it coming. Learned that from marlop
I think the "pulling off horsemen" is much less useful ever since horse speed also affect the damage the rider takes. Why bother pulling off someone if it will one shot them anyway?
@@elkkukissa7883 Yes but its shorter range compared to other polearm make it harder to hit a horseman without getting hit yourself so I would say it's mostly effective against less experienced horsemen. Still, I won't deny its niche use there.
@@DivingHawker The thing to that is to somehow get either in front and stab towards the horseman or try and go to the right side of the horse so they guy ontop cant hit you. This is good with mobile classes.
@@elkkukissa7883 I agree that it would be more useful in a mobile class. However, a spear stab or a Halberd stab or strike have so much range that it can be easier for some people. Besides, if I remember well, the Halberd's alt strike also pulls riders off the horses.
Just a tip because I noticed you mentioned matchups against horses: nearly ANY two handed weapon (any many one handers) can pretty consistently kill horseriders with a bit of timing and practice. All you have to do is get in the horses path (preferably not targeting you, but it doesn't make much difference unless they're a really good horse player), wind up a stab, and jump at them. You'll dodge most couched attacks, and the combined jump and stab will surprise most who expect you to run away. I've gotten consistent kills with the bastard sword in this way alongside many angry messages.
when an enemty goes in for a swing or after a miss and he is really close also you can cancel a feint into a kick dont cancel the feint just start the feint and then press f its really quick
there is so much in mordhau that doesn't seem competitively viable that is actually viable. i think billhook falls into this category. when i played comp, before invasion even existed, the billhook was used, not frequently, but when you saw it you knew you were in for a ride. it's a phenomenal weapon in 5v5 skirms. the pulling effect from a stab is actually worse for the opponent than the damage output of estoc because it leaves your enemy in a bad position; you have the ability to pull a frontliner into your team and get an easy 4v1 gank. it completely counters rats, so no more flanks, and it's damage output is actually good if you shift your playstyle towards stabbing instead of slashing. it's another sleeper weapon that nobody plays because of the popular opinion, like mace and halberd.
It was great when it was the only polearm you could wield with 3/3/3. Ever since that retarded loadout overhaul, you can bring any weapon with full plate and many became pointless, especially now that Bloodlust sucks.
It was my first polearms after the shortspear and I used it nearly exclusively for leg hunting (most wear 0, 1 at best). I also went after cavalry with it, but I hated the low damage, especially stabs were worse against armor than the halberd or poleaxe, not to forget the spear...
I am a big zwei main and I really like the 1vX potential, but I think I should try a new weapon each week or so and play around with it. Bill hook sounds so fun to me, even if a big reason is is that its unpopular. Every billhook main that I have faced has absolutely destroyed me tho
It's just a miss into kick combo. If you miss an lmb and combo it into another lmb it doesn't look like the first attack stops mid air because the windup of the 2nd attack blends into the animation.
There's more, if you are lucky, you can pull an enemy right on your friendly archer's projectile way, so enemy basically just can run from arrow or a bolt :)
Btw I'd love a full weapon focus series like this video. Or an armour overview one for startests, I, for example, didn't know T2 armour is almost as good as T3 in duel context (despite using it for a month after release exclusively lmao) and there's probably a lot more "low information" players like me.
