@@porcin3proph3t4 yeah there is something in swashbuckling adventure on the high seas in the golden age of piracy making for a more exciting protagonist but had Connor been Edward he’d have been as boring in BF as he was in 3.

What my theory is, and I think this concept can even be generalized to many upcoming AC titles is that, Layla has modified the Animus in such a way that the female Eivor is generated because of Layla being a woman. Since the DNA is stronger therefore in many occurrences her digital image cannot be superimposed over male Eivor therefore we get to see male Eivor there. However due to particular scenes where Layla can feel the emotions as a woman and how she would react, it becomes easier for Animus to adapt to her image. My theory is also based on how Layla could "Connect" more easily with Bayek's wife when she followed her tomb to get her DNA sequence.

  • @SwiftGundam
    @SwiftGundam 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

The blood theory hold alot of water. After all, we've seen that the Isu can leave literal messages in the DNA itself for the ones reliving the ancient memories. These 'visions' is very likely a sort of genetic program that activate when certain criteria are met. All to ensure event flow along a certain path. We've seen Minerva do exactly that many times. Most recent is in the Last Descendent trilogy.
The theory that male Eivor is canon only during the 'trip' the the realm of the gods is certainly plausible. Animus within the Animus like situation. Only this will not turn out like the last time if the comics are any indication.
9:30. Basically a bit of Animus trickery. Like how we can have the Aquila's figurehead for the Jackdaw despite the fact the ship hasn't even been built during Edward's time as a pirate.
One thing: Odin Sight IS Eagle Vision. That's what Norse Assassins called it in the Fate of the Gods book.

Male and female Eivor are "both canon" because currently Ubi is taking the soft middle ground instead of committing to a single canon character. I hope with the changes in the company, they'll be able to make games with one protagonist, the one the studio actually wants (i.e. Kassandra), not the one the marketing team wants, and actually write a story that acknowledges the protagonist's identity (no one in the setting comments on Kassandra's gender because there is no difference between an Alexios/Kass playthrough) so we can stop with all of this song and dance.

My personal theory that is inspired by the theory in this video is that when you choose the default option you are basically telling the animus to represent the physical appearance of eivor depending on which side of the character inside is more dominant depending scenarios so with default option it represents Eivor as female cause thats the viking side of the character and male in mythical areas due due the odin side of the character.
This can also work if you choose to play soley male or female eivor.
You can be male eivor raiding towns and doing quests in england because this side the viking side represented as female within is inside during those moments represnted (this makes male Eivor canon)
And you can be female Eivor while exploring the world of norse mythology this part inside Eivor is the male side in her ( making female Eivor also canon) and vice versa
In short Eivor's physical gender can be whaterver and doesnt really matter and
The "female" side of Eivor the viking nature and the "male" side odin and isu heritage are not eivor individually but they both combine and make the Eivor that you play and choose

Good job figuring it all out on your own!
After playing the main story, I believe I had a good idea why it makes sense how a certain important character to take until the end of the story to find out how it is Eivor who is related to a certain person of the distant past and not someone else. Male Eivor literally looks like that person of the past while the Female Eivor does not due to being a woman which threw that important character off their trail until the end of the main story.
I still hope that the next game will have no choice just to avoid giving people a "wrong" option that might clash with the story they want to tell. It was a big facepalm moment for me when after picking the male Eivor there was a letter at a certain study in the late game that called Eivor "Eivor Varinssdottir" instead of "Eivor Varinsson".

Eivor is transgender according to the Animus. If you let animus choose she is female apart from in her dreams where she is male. Remember this post. When enough people have bought Valhalla Ubisoft will canonically reveal that Eivor was transgender /gender fluid all along.
E.g. in Odyssey Kassandra is referred to as Misthios which is male. The female would have been Misthia. The game audio files therefore consider Alexios as canon. Same as Eivor, it’s a female name (male version Eivar) and is referred to as “she” throughout Valhalla. Valhalla audio files therefore consider female Eivor as canon… in fact Eivor is transgender (male stuck in a female’s body) because if you let the Animus choose she is a female in all missions apart from when she dreams she is male.

  • @tgkthebawse

This theory is so good that I want this to be canon but Another possibility is that Eivor might actually be a sage and that Male Eivor is actually Aita and that everytime we play Male Eivor during the "Let the animus choose" run, the animus is actually reading Aita's memory stream and in moments it is not doing so, we're seeing Female Eivor's memories. • @banzworld7187
    @banzworld7187 4 ปีที่แล้ว

If it's true then spot on sir I think you literally translated what "Break the code . Break the node" was meant to be. If we live as Odin through male Eivor then it's safe to say we're witnessing a memory within a memory. Going deeper on that, I think it'll be like an Animus inside The Animus. If that's the case it opens up room for bigger things to happen.
Layla could receive bleeding effect for roaming around as Odin.
Odin appearing as male Eivor MIGHT alarm other Gods in Asgard .
Odin could be banished to Midgard at some point which is why female Eivor sees him in battle.
Picture this: You living odin's memory is what will break the time node(because that's not supposed to happen). I'm thinking every Animus interaction we've seen so far is of someone who came across an Isu or Isu tech. So this theory is saying that we go into the animus AND THEN go back even further to a point where no human was present to witness these events just Isu which will break the code(because it's not supposed to happen). What if we see the Isu at their highest most powerful point in time(Asgardian Period) no human slaves just Godly presence... Layla could gain tons of knowledge while being in Asgard AS Odin.

Also likewise they had the same character models, just slightly altered. Also Siguard was doomed to have has arm removed, as was Tyr and Eivor/Odin with the eye. So there was obviously a connection, I'm guessing a DLC might reveal more?

I like this theory, but on the other hand male Eivor looks so epic, don't know if I will be able to resist not playing him 😁

Why is a damaged narrative strand a narrative issue? Am i missing something there cause it was already explained way before AC Odyssey that there would be issues the further back you go.

@@daniel14698 I'm pretty sure they were talking about the memory strain. It was why most people never pushed to going further back through human history.

I think they'll start using multiple timelines. To see where the present day team can follow. It would let our choices have more weight and let have the Assassin we choose be canon. It helps the RPG element.

This makes a lot of sense. This whole male and female Eivor both being canon has been confusing me all year, especially with the part that Eivor is a woman’s name. Now that the game has come out is this theory correct?

Great theory. If right, it explains a lot.

So can you customize both of them in letting the animus decide? Or how’s that gonna work

5:25 Maybe Odin made himself Reinacarnate as a "complete " human. So he would still be a part of eivor but isn't Eivor. That's why I go with a female version.

Since when did assassins creed stop caring about creating characters with backstories and believable lives and start making fantasy games where u can essentially pick what gender the historical character was. Like I would’ve been good with kassandra being the only playable character, and not having a choice to be her brother. Just stick to a character and stop trying to please the handful of people who don’t know the original tenets of the AC games

Hmmm I would bet on a reincarnation rather than a descendant.
Gull is talking about a soul in Eivor.
Do you guys remember the lyrics of the song that was used in the announcement trailer?
"Won't somebody tell me, answer if you can, what is the soul of a man?"

Also I have other theory. Basically the norse mitology was full of dualty and the male and female Eivor represent the duality of the soul.

It’s a shame that with such formula we will never get characters like ezio, Altair, bayek again.

i think that Basim and his whole story is very, very well written too..! and maybe with that done, the groundwork for the next games was layed and they go on exploring Basim and his wicked plans further! i wanna' see if Loki can really do it and get his Son and Wife back (:
