    • @ichmeiner4531
      @ichmeiner4531 3 ปีที่แล้ว +58

      And he pretty much started the 'actors voice animated characters' - trend. The animators who were responsible for the Genie had Robin Williams in their minds from the get go, they modeled their pitch to Williams after a part of his stand-ups, they just hoped he'd like it and say yes. The 'behind the scenes' with him going nuts in the recording booth, having the crew rolling on the floor laughing, is hilarious. He recorded nearly 200 hours of material, mostly improvised.

    For years after this movie was released people theorized that the peddler at the beginning was the genie after he had been set free by Aladdin since both the peddler and the genie had the same color scheme of blue with a red waist, were the only characters with 4 fingers instead of 5, and had matching facial hair. That theory became reality when a deleted scene was released of the peddler finishing telling the story before turning into the genie

      They never established he was also the genie, but they did at least complete the bookend in Aladdin and the King of Thieves (which is surprisingly decent for a direct to video sequel; it’s basically like a family-friendly Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade with a really neat mythology to it)

It's one of the darkest of the Disney animated films but really well done (minus the gargoyles being a bit annoying because they were trying to lighten the tone for the kid audience but it wasn't necessary) Plus I havn't seen a lot of reactors do Hunchback yet.

    Huh, I never noticed it before but I think you're right--before the the Lamp, Jafar didn't seem to have any "innate" magic powers; he just relied on magical artifacts and potions, like the snake staff, the hourglass and that smokescreen thing. He ends up getting his "real" magic when he makes his second and third wishes from the Genie.

    • @TheGreater-ScopeVillain
      @TheGreater-ScopeVillain 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah. Jafar's greatest asset besides his magic has always been his intelligence - his cunning and manipulation helped him to become the second most powerful person in the kingdom long before he gained true magic. Unfortunately, at the end of this movie, his lust for power caused him to forget that every Genie was bound to a lamp.

    Fun fact the genie is actually the merchant from the intro of the movie. He is the only character other than genie that has 4 fingers and if I am not mistaken there is a deleted scene that confirms that it was the genie all along. I believe Robin Williams also voiced the character.

    Tangled, Brave, Hercules, Beauty and the beast, Moana, The little mermaid, The hunchback of the Notre dame and of course Frozen.
    When you are in for a good laugh I definitely recommend watching tangled, although all Disney films have good humor.

    12:50 There is a theory that the magic carpet is aztually Gazeem, the thief from early in the movie, and that Jaffar, using his magicks and whatnot, has extended the length of his own life span, and that the events early in the movie with Gazeem, happened nearly a thousand years BEFORE Aladdin was born. Gazeem, being unworthy, was punished for his trespassing, by being turned into the magic carpet. By the time Aladdin shows up, Carpet, has come to terms with his form, and punishment, and wishes only to help whom ever is worthy of the treasure.
    It's a really neat theory, that fits the story after a fashion, very much like the Darth Jar Jar theory.

Someone mentioned that Aladdin could have just made his third wish and given the lamp to Jasmine and she could wish the Genie free... I think it was in the screen rant pitch meeting for Aladdin😂😂 but glad your enjoying these movies😊 they meant so much to me growing up. Also, Robin Williams as the Genie was genius.. Aladdin is hands down my all time favourite Disney movie. Not necessarily because I think its the best movie, it just holds a lot of nostalgic value for me and as a south Asian kid Jasmine was as close to representation as it got for me.
    You should check out Lion King (if you haven't seen it), Princess and the Frog, Tangled, and Zootopia.
    Then Pixar movies like Inside Out and Coco.

    Loved the reaction! It's great to see people finding Disney for the first time!
    I'd love to see pretty much anything Disney/Pixar(/Dreamworks):
    - *Zootopia* (great social commentary)
    - *How to Train Your Dragon* (beautiful music/picture [+ Toothless is great] [+ more social commentary for ya, though I guess pretty much all of these movies have that])
    - *Monster's Inc.* (the nostalgia!)
    - *Lilo and Stitch* (so funny and the real life aspects sneak up on you when you watch it as an adult)
    - *Wreck it Ralph* (Vanelope is so cute + it's funny with its own little emotional scenes)
    - *the Incredibles* (because Jack Jack was great and it's always good for a laugh [especially the second one])
    - *Hercules* (the Muses and Hades were the best)
    - *_any_** of the princesses* (all for their own reasons and the music is always great)
    - *_etc._*
    Also, *Into the Spiderverse* (though I don't know if you've already seen it or not considering it's not Disney)...that's just a *great* movie overall. It doesn't miss in literally any way.
    And that's all I'll put for now because I don't want this comment to get _too_ long LOL (Though, after I went back and put mini-explanations/incentives...and then went back again and gave each movie its own line/bullet point, I know it started to run on...)
    EDIT: Oh, and Megamind. Love that one too LOL

    Dunno if this has already been said, but I will. The colors in this movie have special meaning to them.
    Blue is 'good' (the color of the Genie, the palace interior, Jasmine's usual outfit)
    Red is 'bad' (Jafar's every outfit and form, the red sky during his ruling; when he suggests Alladin to go to the Cave of Wonders in prison, he shows RUBIES, as if approving that it is dangerous; Abu grabs a RUBY, putting everyone in danger)
    Green is 'calm' (like the calm before the storm: Jasmine is shown in the garden before the talk with her father leading to her escape; Alladin makes the first wish in an oasis)
    Yellow is 'neutral' (like the background for events: sand of the desert and gold in the cave)
    Those are merely some examples, but there are much more
