Really enjoyed the video. I feel he was trying to express the relation we have with nature and the surrounding world, that we apart of it and supposed to live in symbiosis with the world around us. There is an intrinsic part of us all that yearns to connect with the universe and realize our potential. We are nature and we should not try to dominate it, a feeling I’m sure was a universal aim during 19th century industrialization. I’m sure Whitman would be appalled and distraught if he could see the popular disconnection most people engage these days. His words still finding and resonating with some souls out there though!
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷 Thank you for this! 🥰 I'm Brazilian and I have do study Whitman, to Literature North American in the university. You are amazing. I wish you success.
You ever read a poem, give an opinion, told it’s not what they think is right, so you watch TH-cam video with a clear coherent speaker that is sharing the same ideas. Just me? Okay
So this is one of the poems I have to know for final exam of my studies. My first subscription and probably third thumbs up, even though I'm not personally a fan of poetry and Whitman, I can certainly see passion and dedication in your video. Keep it up, wish you success
It indeed is a task to cover the entire poem in 15 minutes but you did really well. And the way you speak, your voice and tone makes 15 minutes seem like seconds. Really helpful. Thanks for posting. Re
Hi, I have do study Withman and I found really difficult to understand deeply what he meant sometimes but thanks to you now I feel more sure about it! Thank You!
Thankyou for this...but it could have been more interesting if there wasn't the background beat (music) tomorrow is my exam and thankyou for helping through ur videos 🥰🤗
I adore Walt Whitman. Did you know that he edited and greatly altered "Leaves of Grass" many many times during his lifetime. I think he republished "Leaves of Grass", including "song of myself" eight or nine times between the 1850's and 1890"s.
Thank you so much for your wonderful discussion of this work. Being required to read it for class was such a bummer, but your commentary really brought the work to life and actually made me interested in what Whitman has to say. I am also wondering: How are you so proficient in English, given that you lived in a non - English speaking country for presumably quite a long time?
Thank you! I was lucky enough to live in the UK for a year and a half as a kid and learn English, and then I went to an international school in Moscow, so I never lost the language. I even did my GCSEs and everything. Thanks again for your lovely comment x
@@user-tl2dt3os4k Thanks, 🌹🌹🌹and i will add that in section 1, line 8 , he refers to his age that “ now i am 37 years old “ with good health in addition to the use of the prounoun “I” , is that enough to prove that the persona is Whitman ? Or , i should add other things
Thanks so much!! I started putting it a lot quieter in recent videos, back when I filmed this I was a bit self conscious about it, so thanks for your lovely comment:)
Can I ask you something? As you read and give anlysis about song of myself . What was the lesson that we can get from the poem song of myself? Hope you will answer it. I just need help thank you
Hello! Of course you can ask☺️ I feel like there are many lessons to take away from the poem, and everyone will have their own interpretation. The main purpose of the poem was to express the relationship between humans and the world around us, that’s what I think, and so Whitman really makes you question how we can live in contentment without the greed that we have and this idea of striving for more and more. How we can live in a good relationship with the planet around us. For our time especially, what with the climate crisis, I think the lesson is especially important to remember that we are living on the planet Earth and we rely on it so much, on the plants and the greenery that gives us food, on the clean water, on the trees that clear the air for us to breathe. So the lesson that we can take away in simple words is just to remember our roots and don’t be as disconnected as we are now. Remember where you live when you cut down millions of trees to make a wooden chair you won’t use. Of course we all have a carbon footprint and it’s hard to be perfect, but we can at least try to be more conscious in our choices and educate ourselves. It’s the little things, no one’s asking anyone to give up everything but just to not always pollute the environment and go for greener choices if you can. Whitman with his whole “every atom belonging to me belongs to you” shows that we are all related, not just to each other but to nature and the world around us, so to summarize the main lesson would probably be to remember that we’re closer to nature than we think (although it seems like evolution started a long time) and we shouldn’t just move around the world treating it like a means to your ultimate goal (wealth or whatever someone aspires to have.) Hope this helped!

How can I prove that Whitman himself is the persona?
Section 24 check start of the video
@@user-tl2dt3os4k So , because the poem mentioned his name, is that mean he is the persona ?
@@remaahakam291 i would assume so yes
