I made this and it was sooooo delicious. 😋 I did tweak the topping a bit. Instead of using a 2nd can of pie filling and white chocolate icing, I used half a can of cream cheese icing mixed with half tub of sugar free coolwhip, then topped with fresh sliced strawberries. I also poked holes and let the icing seep inside. It was a hit with everyone who tried it. ❤
Made 2 cakes last night for my mothers bible study. The house smelled like a wild strawberry patch So easy to make I used one package of sugar free cake mix and one regular. I didn't have a 2nd regular mix but found no difference how they came out. The results were there was no cake left. Some asked for seconds and some took an extra piece home. Mom also got request for the recipe. I want to try peach and cherry. Keep the ideas coming. I haven't had one bad cake yet. I'm adding onto my comment because the day after mom served this to her bible study group she told me they applauded the cake. They have never done that.
This is SO EASY to make and serves a nice party. I'm a senior and before Covid hit, we had a Potluck lunch every month. When we start having them again, I"ll be ready for this delicious dessert. Been wanting to make something with strawberries for Easter and this would be just perfect!! May also make the peach version for Easter too. Both would make excellent desserts for Easter along with our traditional nut rolls everyone looks forward too!!

You know I was one, too until I got myself to like it. You see, it’s cocoa butter with sugar and milk. 🤷🏻♀️ Nothing offish about that. Too sweet for me, yeah but sure can play around that sweetness in recipes. In your case, I would change to dark chocolate. The duo sing beautifully together. 🍓🫴🏻👈🏻🍫
That looks yummy! My Mom used to make a chocolate cherry cake when we were growing up. It was chocolate cake mix with a can of cherry pie filling. She would frost it with chocolate frosting. Good memories. Happy baking!

I made this two days ago, following your recipe, for my family. The only one in the family who liked it was my dad. I thought it was excessively sweet. I am not a fan of white chocolate because it is nothing but sugar for the most part. The second can of pie filling that is poured on top of frosting just added even more sugar/sweetness. I like the idea of using pie fillings in cake mix because it adds more flavor. The next time I make this, I will replace the white chocolate frosting with whipped cream and some fresh sliced strawberries on top of that. That should cut down on the excessive sweetness. Tomorrow, I plan on making your peach pie cake. That one looks closer to a peach cobbler and I think everyone will like that one. Your Apple pie cake looks good also. Thanks for the recipes.
Yeah it's a lot of sugar. Most of her desserts are looking very bad for anyone trying to be healthy. I would use fresh strawberries for inside the cake mix too if you have them. On her peach cobbler, you can use canned peaches instead of peach pie filling. I don't like white chocolate either, strawberries seem to cry for whipped cream. Or cream cheese.
😋 I use Strawberry Jello Strawberries and pie crust Cool whip on top Kids love it let jello set in refrigerator before spooning in pie shell. I'll try this too 👍
I made this for Christmas and I got the cake out it looked nice, came back in and it caved in a little on one side, still going to frost it and use it. I'm sure they won't notice, thank you for sharing

Oh my goodness. I made this yesterday, and wowser is it good? I used Cherry pie filling for the inside and topping. The cake is good on its own, but then the white chocolate icing is amazing along with a dollop of pie filling when being served. Our cake yesterday was "room temp"/"warm-ish" and was good, but after sitting in the refrigerator, it is one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. Thank you Catherine!

Cut back on amount... I'm sure you'll be happier. Most do over kill. Plus take 3 weeks make yourself vanilla.. it makes big difference
