  • Today we talk about cleaning your flute. We go through all you need to know to clean your flute after a practice session or playing a concert. NEED A CLEANING KIT? Buy this: amzn.to/2HKd0bM
I would recommend everything in this kit minus the cork grease, you just don't need it. Its a great kit that does all you need and is a good replacement if you don't have a cleaning rod.

I start with the flute still assembled. I dry the foot joint 1st (it is the driest part.) Then I remove the foot joint and place it in the case. I continue with the body and head joint in turn, placing each in the case after drying. Finally, I tie the damp cloth to the handle on the outside of the case.

Do you also use special paper that looks like cigaret paper to dry up your pads at times? I love playing outdoors in the nature, but when the difference of temperature between indoors and outdoors is too high, some of my pads become sticky (those close to the headjoint, most of the time). Back then, I stupidly went to the woodwind and brasswind shop for mending. And they just informed me that I could just dry up my pads with paper... Fortunately, the service was free. ^_^ Besides, I was informed that flutes do not like cold temperatures. And do not even try to play outdoor against the wind... it surely wins over you sounds by blowing inside your flute from the bottom of your instrument! ^_^
