Glad you were there for her. I have to add that this ignoring the No happens to men as well. It’s happening to everyone and it seems more so for those of us who are over 70. For some reason they think we can’t make decisions for ourselves. I’m so fed up with healthcare.
I was a nurse for most of my career and have had that happen multiple times. Was in the operating room and they hadn't put an IV in. They ended up sticking me eleven times, by the end they had multiple people holding me down with me screaming to stop. Incredibly traumatic. It's part of why I don't believe in our medical care situation or doctors. Thank God I am still pretty healthy at 67
I had a physical therapist who threatened to ban me from not only the physical therapy area but the inpatient area upstairs that I had previously been in as well if I didn't let him continue doing a very forceful and painful maneuver on my knee that was making it where I could hardly walk for the 3 days until my next visit. It was also causing me a lot of mental issues since I am an abuse survivor. I told my surgeon about it and he had xrays taken that showed that the bolt that was acting as my knee at the time was being forced out of the bits of bone I had left and was causing damage. My doctor was not happy and wrote a letter telling him to stop it and what he had done. The jerk PT got irritated and told a different person to work with me, which was fine by me.
I'm glad they finally do a numbing shot first. I've had 3 epidurals. None were numbed first. It was decades ago so... Had I know the side effects of the epidurals I never would have gotten them. I've suffered with Adhesive Arachnoiditis for 20 years now. It's progressive. If you're in pain and have had an epidural in the past 20 years, it could be AA. Look it up.
My doctors don’t listen. My gynecologist told me that depo provera would only cause blood clots if I didn’t stop smoking. After two years of flu like symptoms and two Nexplanon implants, switching primary care, ent doctor, vein specialist and soon a pulmonary specialist my gynecologist finally listened to me. I now have the hormone levels of a post menopausal woman. My gynecologist still doesn’t think my nexplanon has anything to do with it. I was on depo for 10 years sparatically between pregnancies. My longest time was almost 6 years. Oh and I only have 12 teeth. Everyone thinks I’m crazy. They called me a delusional and an attention seeker. I feel like I’m going to die every night when I go to sleep. I’m 46. I don’t qualify for the class action lawsuit because CT scans don’t show any signs of a tumor. All of my kids after I got the depo shot have problems. My son had all of his baby teeth rot, two of my daughters have ovarian cysts that make their periods unbearable and my other daughter was born with an anterior polar cataract and an umbilical hernia and has arthritis at 22. My first daughter is perfectly fine.
Oh my, I am so sorry all of that happened to you - and your children. Not that it matters, but where was this? I don't want to know the exact office/hospital, only the state/city. Just curious.
@ Chicago suburbs, Illinois. I just know I’m not the only one. Being on public aid doesn’t help either. There’s sooo many people who are ignored. I’m grateful you were there for your patients! It’s important to have an advocate in the industry. I probably should have said that first but my brain is Swiss cheese sometimes. 😅
I don't blame the doctor as much as I blame the Healthcare System. I am so glad I am done forever working as an RN! I know how it is. I don't even blame the doctor that much. They run him just like they run us nurses -- stretched way too thin with no time for any wrinkles in the day. You probably really doesn't have the time to dilly dally around with her. But again blame the real problem: the bosses. There hasn't been any "care in American Healthcare leadership in a long, long time. For them it's a profitability and a time and motions game.
Thank you for sharing this and being an advocate for your patience! I'm sure you're a voice for many! ❤
Thank you! I agree 100%. If my patient says no, i stop!
I also tell my patients they have the right to say no, the right to bodily autonomy.
Bravo! So glad you stood up for her.💖
1000% this. Thank you for speaking up on this.

❤ Yes, ma’am! Thank you!
What a wonderful practitioner you are 🙏❣️💝
Thank you!

You have to really be clear on signing any consent form. They are in a rush in surgery pre op area. Dont let them bully you.

Wow! A woman-as-victim story.
