Arabic Dance from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Ballet

Percussion scholar David Valdés' fresh take on the tambourine part in the Arabic Dance. Based on the original tempo marking and other indications in the manuscript, David believes that the tambourine excerpt, traditionally articulated, should be played as rolls. While "unorthodox" he supports his theory and makes a strong case, worth consideration. Ultimately the choice is up to the performer or conductor.
