This is a nice little idea in with a tribal feel to it. It sounds cool and comes to life when you add the kick drum on the quater notes. There are snippets of polyrhythms going on at times, which makes the groove a little more challenging. The first thing you want to do is get the hand pattern down. Feel free to move the sticking pattern around the kit, as I am sure it will sound cool when used with more toms. For more advanced players, try applying a samba rhythm with the feet underneath the hand pattern. Enjoy. 10yrs later and this is still one of my favorite drum beats to learn when I was in high school

Well that answers the question haha. It's actually a bass drum head made by aquarian. It has the same look to it, that thick outer black ring. I've seen them used on 16 floor toms so I was just curious.

I have seen a lot of your video's now, but I keep coming back to this groovy tribal vibe. The music breakdown sheets are also very helpful. I wish you had more of these groovy tribal vibe sounds tho.
