LOL, yes, truly worthy of everyone's attention and time. An above-ground pool installed slightly incorrectly and the installer is "gasp" going to correct it in several months!
These pools a r e n t cheap, we own one and it cost $11,000, dont talk shit about things you know nothing about, the installer didn't do his job right, and has everyone ever heard of damn liner? You have to replace those on a pool if they're above ground.
Shadowsumbra It's in level about five inches from one side to another from that distance it's alot it's not just a dent on top of that it's missing hardware do you listen when you listened to the video or just look at pics
The day this was published, 21 civilians in Mosul were executed by the Islamic State. The day before, 2 car bombings in Fallujah killed 8 and injured 20. And in Florida, a middle-class woman wasn't happy with her new pool.
@Caleb Baggett No, you're right - we should all sit around watching news stories about people in the US unhappy with their swimming pools. Because this stuff's just scandalous. Really, they should have put a trigger warning on this one... 🙄
Depending on the age. If a child is in there while it breaks, that child could get it's head slammed into part of the wall or go under. It doesn't take long for a little one to drown.
Cona Bish sounds like you live your life in a bubble wrapped box lmao 70s 80s and 90s there would have never been a report about it and I'm sure plenty of above ground pools had there issues and parents or grandparents if that worried probably shouldn't leave the infantile child in the pool with any adult supervision
When i was 12 our pool ( that was slightly elevated behind the house) collapsed and i legit floated through the kitchen and halfway down the hallway. As soon as my mom got off the phone with the insurance company i asked her, since half the house was already trashed, could we refill the pool and do it again? She thought i was joking
The installer didn't say he wouldn't fix it, he said he'd come back in the winter (when the pool is normally drained), that thing is perfectly safe, would probably last a decade. Even in the event of failure while the grandkids were in the pool they'd be washed out onto the soft grass probably laughing their heads off with a story they'd have for the rest of their lives. Playing in the ankle deep surf on the beach is more dangerous.
Metal fatigue like that increases exponentially with time. The metal is strongest in its initial form before being bent. The more bent it is, the easier it is to bend.
Ghost2Coast If you don’t have any issues with this, you are the ideal customer for a business! (Not sure where she lives in FL, but if southern FL, you don’t DRAIN the pool in the winter- it doesn’t freeze (even n. FL I’m sure they just lower the water level.) You’re falling for a total brush off!
Above ground pools can be expensive (assuming the lady isn’t wealthy, like most of us aren’t); she has a reasonable expectation that her pool would be installed LEVEL.
In florida, should've gone with an inground, concrete pool, the only thing good about above ground pools is they are easier to take down when your sick of it
HERPY DERPEDY If you lived in Florida you'd realize you could have someone follow you with a fire truck spraying water on you and it's still not enough.
In ‘87 we had an above ground pool installed in our yard. It was only 15’ across, yet it too, started leaning toward the back fence, which is adjacent to the paved parking lot owned by the church. Was likely due to the shifting of the ground and maybe improper ground preparations before it was installed The pool remained intact way past its warranty and we never did have a flood, nor did the pool tip over. Even though it was leaning so much to one side, you could visibly see where the wall was starting to buckle. Anyhow, the pool itself was professionally installed by Trévi, one of the biggest pool and spa companies in Quebec It was dismantled in 2011 or 2012 by my brother because no one was using it anymore and became too much to maintain on such a fixed budget
I'm hearing people call this woman a rich snob...wtf does that have to do with paying for a shitty job. She paid whatever she paid for the pool installers to come out and do a bullshit install... I see no compacted sand base nor did they build the pool with all the necessary hardware. The woman customer is a complete victim and should sue those crooks that attempted to rip her off....
+POV, then they should come back and fix their shitty install. Just because you guys roll over and take everything up the ass doesn't mean everybody else does. If I paid thousands for some bullshit pool and installers I'd expect it to be done correctly. This lady is 100% in the right.
To all you 14 year olds in the comments that are jumping on the hate train because you're ignorant: This isn't a shitty little pool from Walmart. This pool is made of sheet metal. If it breaks, there's going to be a large metal hole with sharp edges that can really cut someone up. You don't drain these kinds of pools after they're filled. Once they're filled, the metal expands and emptying it would cause the metal to shrink back, and filling it up again could cause fatigue failure. This woman has every right to expect to have a correctly installed pool. There's nothing more to it than that. And don't act like you're a pool expert when you're not.
And the professional, "been doing this for decades" guy wanted to be on the news so he also thinks it's unsafe and will wipe out the whole neighborhood if it blows.
It is unsafe he knew exactly what he was doing measured the water to see how uneven the ground really was. We're talking about metal here stuff on the pool can easily cut you if this thing was to go down sounds like fun? More like a huge lawsuit
When installing an above ground pool it is absolutely required that the area the pool will set be level and properly filled with sand which will support the pool and water weight without sinking. The sand base should only be under the pool liner and not beyond that footprint or the outside wall supports will sink into the sand and create havoc.
Remember back in 89, this same mistake, yes sir. Took out the whole neighborhood. My friends son was repairing a roof when the pool went, killed him in a matter of seconds. When ever I see a above ground pool I tell the owners it's a ticking time bomb waiting to go off. Even the kidie pools are enough to destroy a small house.
Not an easy fix. Liner has to be destroyed as once the liner is out no way to be sure not to puncture a hole in it. So new liner needed $300 bucks. Plus maybe $600 or so in labor help to disasemble and reasemble. HASSLE......
Don't know why everybody is getting on the home owner. All she wants is her pool installed correctly because it was installed incorrectly. 5 inches out of level is no good. She paid someone to do a job, it should have been perfectly level.
If I pay someone, that is supposed to know what they are doing, and the repair or installation is wrong,; it has to be fixed. Not in the winter time, now MOtherF. I don't care if the ground dropped or not, the installer should have anticipated this. Repaired it now so that the person that PAID can use it NOW. Whether you think this woman is a snob or not, she PAID for a job and the job was not done correctly. That is the crux of this video. Too many a-holes doing a job they should not be doing.
So here’s the question whose responsibility is it to grade the land to make it level for the pool to be installed and the answer is the guy who installed the pool should’ve told her it’s not level and then giving her the option to either have it leveled by one or her contractors or pay him additional money to have it leveled
Mine did the same thing, one side was leaning and off by a few inches We used it for months with no problems. Same with a family friends pool. In my opinion it’s really not a huge deal, depending on how much it’s leaning, but should be fixed if possible. If it breaks, well that’s quite the ride whoever’s in it is going to take!
The wall is buckled and it isn't even level. Very unacceptable installation whether it's safe or not. How can anyone be forced to pay for the installation and told they have to wait to have it fixed. The installers should be sued and be put out of business if they think that pool is acceptable work. I used to install above ground pools and we went through a lot of work so the ground and each support post was perfectly level all the way around. the walls were even and liner was smooth and free of any wrinkles. There were times we redone our own work because WE weren't satisfied before giving the customer the bill.
I'm worried about that families safety. This has troubled and disturbed me for quite some time. I'm very worried and think about it at least once a day for over a year now. God bless them
I'm worried about your grammar. This has troubled and disturbed me for quite some time. I'm very worried and think about it at least once a day for over a minute now.
Stuart Goldup that's what I'm saying these fools have no clue how this thing is really made there are tons of sharp peaces.. I could just imagine what it looked like underneath with the cross supports etc. Terrible work to say the least
Nope....you would not. Walls will never sheer off like that and leave a sharp edge. Those walls will last for 20 years. Its brand new, not a rusted old pool
kids now a days are way too soft. A few scrapes and bruises will toughen them up. Or given todays, kids more likely make them scared of pools for life. Either way life's lesson learnt.
Ok I just looked and paused video and saw the tiny 3 inch line that is Buckled inward which is weird because usually it buckles outward. In any case that little shit is nothing to worry about.
Ryan Bitter an actual above ground pool is a couple of grand. They're ugly, yes, but they're actual pools...not those cheap ass pvc things available at walmart or big lots.
ROTAXD no it’s not, I googled and found that exact type of pool. The 18x36’ model is $799 delivered........ Hers doesn’t even look to be that big so it was probably a $400 - $500 pool.
No pool expert but when I grew up everyone in the neighborhood had above ground pools and I either assisted or installed more than mt fair share of them. For those you hating on this women that was a lousy install and thats putting it mildly. To be off by five inches is an embarrassment to the installer. If I owned the company I would do what is right and fix it. I work in machine reair and sometimes mistakes are made, just man up and resolve the issue. You cant just drain the water and leave it as the water is part of the support.
I would have given anything to see the look on her childrens face when she told them they can't swim in the pool till it's fixed. #Total bummer dude 🏄🏊
Rïçky C. Being that I can see that the sides of the pool are sticking up out of the ground about 5', I think its safe to say that I, along with the other 99.999% of people, including yourself, can definitely tell that it is an above ground pool. But in case I just happened to miss something, thanks for pointing it out.🙄
It's been 3 years now... wonder what happened? I would hate to pay the extra water bill filling it all back up again but hopefully it got fixed properly!
The fact that this News station aired this is absolutely disgusting! She is clearly using it and if she feared that much... it would have been emptied!
If this is the worst thing going on in this town its definitely a great place to raise a family.

If you know it was built wrong why is there water in it making the damage worse
this is action news?
Did it get fixed
Shouldn't have mentioned to the installer that you wanted a pool with a deep end and a shallow end!
e greenie it's a above ground pool
I was also wondering what the outcome of this was.
kim fuller
*scared of pool*
Did the work get done tho?
What an ugly thing to put in your yard.
Well she wasn’t that ugly 30 years ago.
Her whole yard looks depressing
I don't think it went swimmingly.
First world problems
Better to have first world problems than third world problems lol
Watching in 2022. Is the family ok?
This is the whitest story I’ve ever heard in my life
So they record the kid in the pool, but r scared to use it?
Slow news day?
Well, now it's August 2018, did the pool ever break open?
Don't do drugs. Please. Just don't, no matter what.
Oh wait this is about a pool? Okay...
The fact that this News station aired this is absolutely disgusting! She is clearly using it and if she feared that much... it would have been emptied!
Slow news week huh?
Local news is so great. Such mundane stuff, it's quite charming.
Whats the matter, couldnt afford an in-ground pool?
dennyfrontier probably. Or she just didn't want to have to wait that long.
This is the best action news in the world.
