I love how there is a complete and utter size inconsitency in the book and how the Giraptors seemingly spawn out of thin air. In one scene the Giraptors are big enough to crush a golf cart, strangle someone with their neck or decapitate with a single bite yet somehow they are small enough to fit in a souvenir shop and too tiny to simply hop over the closed gate of the park
This honestly feels like an Asylum movie script that got made into a book instead. And I'd love to see this be turned into a movie, made by the Asylum or even another studio. It fits that b movie campiness so well that I can see it being Sharknado's successor in that regard.
Oh yeah Sharknado. It started as very ilogical but pretty standard sci fi movie. But its sequels are so mind-blowingly crazy that it seems to changed the genre from sci fi into fantasy. And even for fantasy standard they're very weird and insane

I definitely understand Martinez point that this isn't satire or parody of schlocky monster scifi, it just *is* schlocky monster scifi. It's not like Sharknado or Velocipastor were made goofy by accident, they were already meant to be funny because they're silly. Parodying something that's already a joke is kind of missing the point, and there's really nothing wrong with making something that is silly on its own. It's uncommon in modern media, but it's entirely viable to tell a story that's just unserious and fun without making an overt parody or comedy.
As an author planning on a dinosaur-themed story to add to their next published anthology, I’m enjoying seeing what others have done in the genre. Thank you for uploading. -Eli Hooker, published author.
At first I thought this was covering the made up dinosaur species from one of the Dr. Dolittle books. It was described as a long necked dinosaur with giraffe horns.
I haven't watched this yet, but the aesthetic of these creatures reminds me of the Chinese mythological creature called a qilin, a sort of hoofed dragon faced deer which is, interestingly enough, associated with giraffes because famous voyager Zhang He brought giraffes back to China from Somali and the emperor declared the strange creature to be the mythical qilin.
Gotta say, I’ve watched a lot of Asylum movies and other crappy horror movies like theirs, and this book sounds exactly like a script for one of their movies. I can even picture the movie in my head.
Things with long tongues and necks are weird enough on their own but imagine one that would see you as prey. Granted I love giraffes and petting and feeding them at the zoo but being stalked by one is nightmare fuel.
The top two phrases I DID NOT expect when I subscribed to your channel: the first was Dinosaur Satan...and now Girraptor These are the most out of pocket phrases that just DEMANDS context. And even when you receive the context you are left wondering what the creators were taking to create these bonker stories. I am so glad I am here to experience this!
Not exactly sure if he has it, but I want to say it anyway: Autistim, son! Nothing else in the world can replicate that! (The actual stories, that is, not the guy reviving the story.)
6:42 Sounds something out of British horror where everyone is an idiot. More specifically this sounds like how 28 Days Later and BBC's Day of the Triffids started. An animal rights activist who can't be arsed to mind his own business.
Have you read the Destroyermen series? It's focus is mainly the crews of a pair of WWI era US Navy destroyers pressed into service in the WWII Pacific theatre that get transported to an alternate Earth where the dinosaurs didn't get wiped out. The main antagonists are more (for the leaders anyways) evolved raptors that have formed a large Darwinian might-makes-right empire, humans didn't become the dominant species and were replaced instead by lemurs. Its a great mix of alternate history and speculative evolution.
Always wanted to ride a (normal) giraffe *if* possible and allowed. A giraffe with raptor head and claws on all four legs? *If* it was safe and friendly, riding it. Looks fun to try even.
Yall want Asylum to make this, but to me this feels more like Metroshia. I mean, they made a movie called POST APOCALYPTIC COMMANDO SHARK all about a mad scientist that turned a person into a human/shark hybrid and sends it out to fight people, complete with horrid home film effects and acting, and overall its a good time.
What a story. As a long time fan of those campy Asylum movies like Raptor Island, I would actually love to see this adapted to a TV film for the SyFy channel. The only dinosaur horror I've ever personally read was Devour. I was wondering if you'd read it, and if you had, what your thoughts on the book were?
The fact that the writers used a monster with a long neck and didn’t have the hero behead them in over the top ways is inexcusable. I would have had the people set up piano wire strung between trees/ improvised bear traps or guillotines..or hell just a chainsaw!? Guns are a boring way to finish a crazy beast..go all out! You could go PG with the old Empire Strikes Back leg tie trick? But if your going for gore…. ( good god I’ve lost my mind)
There's an Incredibles comic where some villain combines zoo animals and dinosaurs, I only know because the cover is kind of wild with an elephant with no face but instead at the end of it's trunk is a dino head. Also, what's the only way to make a T-Rex scarier? Give it the head of a hippo.
That cover art just screams old school sci-fi or horror novel art to me I love it.
heck yeah i miss super cool graphic covers like that
I know, right? The art was very well done
If you gave it wings, it would be King Ghidorah
Of all animals, the writers chose a mammal as a match for raptor DNA rather than a bird. Imagine the horrors of a cassowary raptor hybrid
And it was mostly non aggressive one. The story will be more terrifying too if the author choose hippo, boar, or weasel
Cassowary? Dear (deity)! Those hell birds are half raptor already! How about something more...pleasant, like a Komodo dragon, or a Gila monster?
Cassowary raptors would be evil
I mean then you have completly normal raptor.
cassowary raptor hybrid? you mean a utahraptor?
