The LC is a very underrated shotgun . My boy is a very good shot and was one of our top trap shooters in highschool . Our team took state. He struggled with a Barretta 32 " over and under field and trap gun. We were told it fit him ,but it didn't. A Champ checked him and told us to bring it back home and put it in the closet. He said do you have anything else ? I said I have a 100 year old LC Smith with full and full. We brought it in and he put laser tubes in it and had him swing. He said " Perfect now go out and shoot" . He went out and shot two 25 s. He moved to top gun .😎 😎

I don't think they're underrated judging by the auction prices where I got mine a few years ago. Got super lucky as auctions are NOT bargain bins!! Mine was the last LC double in an auction of nearly 400 guns with about 15 LC's of higher grade and little less finish wear. I've had SxS and O/U shotguns but the LC locks up so smoothly and vault-like, like a armored door on a battleship.
Its only issue is three hairline cracks that start at the receiver and run out towards the grip. Could probably shoot it in a pinch but no need. I heard the LC doubles are a bearcat to disassemble and assemble so I'm here to learn.

@luvbordercollies they were underatted back in the day, "they" which im not sure who, said that it was poorly made and poorly designed. It was meant to be a budget shotgun. The first year production run i believe it cost about $67 a few years later is cost about half as much

Hello Nick, what a surprise to find this site. Some years ago I contacted you regarding the possibility of sending you a 12 bore W.W.Greener s x s requiring some attention. You came highly recommended by the seller of the gun and so after several phone calls, the gun was sent, repaired and returned to me, tight and looking rejuvenated. I can’t thank you enough and now will enjoy the content that post on your channel. Sadly the Greener went to a new owner and my only gun is a W&S model 700 in 16 bore from the same seller. Beautiful. Cheers from Nova Scotia. 👍🇨🇦👨‍🦳

I watched another video from Anvil Gunsmithing (Mark Novak). He is a Gunsmith from the United States. Mark has a TH-cam Channel under the name “Anvil Gunsmithing”. He did what is described as a “Conservation” of an LC Smith. That involves Boiling and maturing the surface rust. Then carding away the heavy scale away with a special “Carding Wheel” which brings out the original finish. It seemed to me that his technique at disassembling an LC Smith was somewhat problematic. The disassembly did not go as smooth as your video. This strongly suggests to me that double shotgun specialists like you are the answer. I am impressed with English Gunmakers. You people really know your trade and the double break open design. I enjoyed watching you fabricate screws. Cheers from the United States!

I was given a 1936 LC SMITH 12 gauge specialty grade single shot trap gun . The walnut stock has a factory cheek plate. Also first auto eject for shells. What a spectacular shot gun. It cost 600 USD in 1936. That is more then a brand new car. Neal

Now I know not to take my '07 Elsie apart. Very detailed & informative video. Thank You!
Have a question to ask, if I may:
I have a 16 gauge 1907 0 grade LC with Damascus Barrels. Looking to possibly replace the barrels with steel barrels. To your knowledge, you think a 1915 Field Gr 16 ga w/ steel barrels be an interchangeable fit or not..? And...would my existing forearm also fit ?

I really appreciate you taking the time to make this informative video. I just inherited my grandfather's L. C. Smith 00. By some Miracle it is in very good shape. I will be disassembling it to give it a good cleaning. Do you have any advice for oiling or greasing the internals?

I was gifted a 1936 LC SMITH SPECIALTY GRADE SINGLE SHOT TRAP GUN. MY BUDDY TOOK IT APART TO CLEAR. He was shocked how beautifully made the gun was. The inside works was purely perfection in all the parts. It was so well put together to last forever. Just a light coat of gun oil is all that is needed. You inherited an American treasure. Neal

I didn't see you install the safety cocking rod which without it the safety doesn't work, that's the problem with mine not sure how to get it right ? It's that appox 1/8×1.5 in rod that fits in the groove on the backstrap ,which end does the nub go on and pointing up or down? I haven't even looked at it in over 20 years so I'm going by memory

Are the stocks available to purchase? After mine fell from being propped up, on the first day I bought it, the stock slit into two pieces.

Hello my dear master, I want to buy a second-hand British-made classic smoothbore shotgun, a double rifle with side-by-side barrels. There are many rifle brands, I can't decide which brand to buy.
As an experienced rifle repair master, what brand of rifle would you recommend me to buy? What is your advice? I am a hunter who hunts fly partridges, quails, woodcocks and rabbits. Master, what is your suggestion and recommendation for me? I would appreciate it if you could recommend a light, solid hollow band 12 diameter quality rifle brand. Thank you in advance. Thank you, I offer my respects.

If you are going to use the gun, you would want an LC Smith Field Grade 20 or 12ga. They are relatively affordable yet durable.
I am partial to LC Smith because My Grandfather was an LC Smith Master Smith.
You could also look into Ithaca, Fox or Parker sxs
