    I was watching a video on Jefferson Davis and saw his face and though- wow he looks just like Lincoln. How strange. Then i happened upon your video.

    This is the funniest god damn video I have ever seen! Very clever. Lets get some Hanks and Davis family DNA.

    Pure bull... even more outrageous than the Calhoun story.

    The photograph typically identified as "Thomas Lincoln" is actually Abraham Lincoln's cousin DENNIS HANKS. A much later photograph of Dennis as an old man surrounded by his daughters shows the resemblance.

      Dennis Hanks and Thomas Lincoln haven't been confused in the pictures I've seen.

      @@TC-eb4wu Well they HAVE in the picture I'm referring to shown in your video. What is identified as being "Thomas Lincoln" looks nothing like Abraham Lincoln. His hair is not as dark (Abe had coal black hair), his build is stockier, his face is wider, his head is squarish as opposed to Abe's lean oblong head, and his lips are much thinner (Abe had a thick lower lip). The man in the photo resembles a distant photo of Dennis Hanks with his other cousin John Hanks, to whom there IS a resemblance. Since Nancy Hanks was apparently never photographed and had the same "dirt poor" farm background as her husband, it tends to make sense that NEITHER of them were ever photographed; as it seems they at least would have been for their wedding, as Abraham and Mary Todd were.
      And on the subject of his paternity, have you ever heard of a reference to a William Cessna being Abraham's father? I read in a book by Edwin Steers called "Lincoln Legends" or something like that that the Cessna family of Hardin County Kentucky (where Abraham was born) had a long tradition that "old man Cessna" was very horny and used to like to try to bed all the women in the County whether single or married and that Abraham was the result of one such liaison with Nancy Hanks. It was also from this family that the claim came that Thomas Lincoln's ballocks were too small for reproduction.

      I think we can agree that Thomas Lincoln was not the father of Abraham Lincoln. The picture of Thomas Lincoln is that of Thomas Lincoln, not Dennis Hanks.
      Jefferson Davis looks much like Abraham Lincoln because they were brothers.

      @@TC-eb4wu I don't agree to what I DON'T see evidence for. I DON'T know if Thomas Lincoln was his father or not without some authentic visual comparison. I DO agree that there are grounds for doubt, but only a DNA test would confirm that.

    I am a relative of both the Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis families. This is not the first time I've heard this story. Take a look at a photo of Lincoln before he grew his beard, and compare it to a photo of Jefferson Davis around the same age. They looked quite a bit alike across the chin, lower jaw and lips; the resemblance is noticeable. FYI -- Diane.

    • @dianekennedy7086
      @dianekennedy7086 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I did want to add that since I made this comment, I've seen a side by side split photo comparison of Abraham Lincoln to one of the Lincolns living today (one of Mordecai Lincoln's descendants, who would also be a cousin to me). That resemblance is undenable also. So honestly, I'm not sure we'll ever know the answer to this one - Diane.

      I agree. The only distinguishing difference between the two is the nose. Cheekbones and chins, the eyes also seem almost identical, like brothers. Greetings from Richmond VA. Capital of the Confederacy

      @dianekennedy7086 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@BobbyBowker To date, the Jefferson Davis family does not formally acknowledge our branch of the family due to a lack of governmental type records - birth certificates, death certificates, etc. However, judging from the family photographs, DNA report and family oral history, the relationship likely exists. My grandmother and father looked much like Jefferson Davis Jr. when they were little children. It is my understanding that the recognized Jefferson Davis family has ALWAYS contended that Samuel Davis (father of Jefferson Davis) was Abraham Lincoln's biological father also. They just did not release the information until all involved parties were deceased so as not to hurt anyone.
      I have a picture of my great great grandfather Davis that was taken in Coles County, Illinois - a big stomping ground of the Thomas Lincoln family. I think there was a Davis who was a prominent judge in Coles County at the time also. FYI - Diane.

    The boys grew up 100 miles apart. (Unless they were the same person.) The resemblance is uncanny. Bone structure alone they must be related. Not many photos of Jefferson Davis in school history books. Just Lincoln.🤔

    Hmmm and who did J.Davis marry? What is known about her please?

    • @TC-eb4wu
      @TC-eb4wu  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Jane Davis married my uncle Troy Ray. They had a son that died in childhood.
      When Jefferson Davis became President of the Confederacy, he couldn't let let it be known that he was once married to an Indian and he had a part Indian granddaughter. Both parents died when the baby was a toddler and Jefferson had to take care of her. To conceal his granddaughter from the public, Jefferson gave the baby to his young married cousin, John Riley Davis, to raise. After the war, John moved to Texas at a place that would become known as Sweet Water.
      When John Riley Davis was on his deathbed, he asked his granddaughter, Jane Davis, to tell the truth about Jefferson Davis and Abraham Lincoln being brothers. I learned the story from her.
