Met Yeti at a ALDA West ruck in Coeur d' Alene Idaho about 6 years ago, he did a presentation showing his hike around the perimeter of Idaho. Enjoying your journey.
Y’all have got me hooked! Very entertaining , interesting, and great realistic representation of hiking experience and community. Y’all are so cute. Will restrain myself to not binge watch episodes. Hope yalls feet are in better shape by now. Thanks!
That drop-off on the Trail would give me a Lemming feeling. Weird. Your Idyllwild hotel looks beautiful and rustic. Living vicariously through your channel and loving it. Thank you for the vlogs.
Two towns one day, a little rock climbing at Eagle Rock, Deer, Rattlesnakes, Beer and Hot Dogs, friendly horsey, hot coffee, water, water everywhere (lite packs), Mikes place (chow and beer), interesting dinner combo, followed by songs from the locals in the middle of the night... with the exception of the winds you appear to have had 5 great days on the trail and now it's Nero/Zero time. SAFE HIKING
Not all of southern California is a desert lol The Scissors Crossing area is what we call the desert here in San Diego. Mt Laguna, Julian and Idyllwild are what we call the mountains with forests and cooler temps/snow. Looks like a great trip so far, enjoy your zero!
The screams are mountain lions mating calls at night. Mountain lions also churp like birds when they see other animals in the wild. Hike your own hike 👍
If the coyotes were hunting rabbits, rabbits can scream pretty loud when they are in distress. But it could have been crows that can expertly mimic sounds like laughs and screams snd crying snd meowing and barking, etc. so who knows what you heard. Glad you got a great place to stay. I’ve stayed at silver pines. It’s a great place to stay. Right by downtown so convenient to everything in that fantastic and adorable town.
Why do they need fireplaces in the desert? You were in the mountains. It gets cold there. Idyllwild is over 5,000 feet. It snows there in the winter. But it also does get cold in the desert. There is high desert and there is low desert in So Cal.
tge closed cell pads are uncomfortable but the air ones pop. i carry the xtra 6 ounces and use a self inflating one. if it pops there is still some foam.
Those look like live oaks. If they have the prickly leaves they are live oaks that are basically evergreen trees. But they totally have acorns. Live oak are a protected species in CA. And very beautiful trees.
There is so much transition of vegetation in the desert. I wonder how old that oak tree is? It's probably older than all of our ages together. One question: Why does the map say Sam's Hike and not Sam & Moriah's Hike? Is it a limit on the number of letters, or does Moriah have a separate channel? Loving the vlog, Happy Trails!!!
Same channel. The feature is done through Sams garmin watch which is just programmed to him. But we are both doing the same thing! Thanks for following along!

I didn’t like that moment. She looked very uncomfortable.
Mountain Lions scream.
They sure do I guess!
Can I give some solid advice? Don't camp in drainage areas. Very dangerous. Keep waking you two.
it's funny you call idyllwild "the desert" lol
Haha. Because we are ignorant New Englanders discovering a beautiful new land that doesn’t make any sense to us!
