Witch Doctor is STILL one of the Best Giant Nut Contenders yet, it didn't win at least 1 Giant Nut. Overall, Witch Doctor is still the best throughout the years.
Witch Doctor is a legitimate dark horse candidate (same as Lockjaw and Yeti) over the years despite never won the Nut, having a powerful weapon that even goes head to head against Bite Force and good driving speed but just slightly lacking in centrifugal stability and durability.
Witch doctor is one of my favourites for just how consistently competitive they are, always one short from the number one spot but always ready to improve and come straight back! Spirit of the sport is witch doctor
As I understand it, the biggest issue is running the weapon at the same time as the drive. They can easily test the drive system at home, but some of the most serious kinetic weapons have almost no way of being tested simultaneously to the drive, so those interactions are an unknown factor.
You can tell that most of them drive very well, but you can't tell, when their bots get damaged and from my experience with RC models I think that it happens on first contact in many cases. And if it doesn't, pretending it did, is still a very good idea. If it allows you to save battery playing a defenisve part for a while, then you will come to the point, where your bot will be stronger. Watch carefully, how well some people can suddenly drive, when it matters most. And how often weapons start working again, when it matters the most.
WD was always an elite class bot. Her only weak season was WCII, but that was because of loosing by an upset against the legend Red Devil. But other than that was a contender in every season.

Battlebots IQ is borderline lost media, so i think they maybe have still something from the collegiate championships, also, it’s not from the reboot battlebots, so for them it’s almost an entirely different competition
@untizioacaso1300 Not sure if it was that far reaching. In various podcasts/interviews Trey said they have a bunch of tapes of the olden times (both robot wars era, comedy central and dark era before the reboot) and are digitizing them now. They are lost media to everyone but them.

Witch Doctor for some reason gets favoured by the judges all the time. Definately at the beginning of their career, in their first battle, year, their robot was totally out powered and did need the help, but the following yr dramatically increased its power to become one of the best, and did not need the extra helping hand. . When the ref start counting down for a knockout varies on what seems to be "playing" favourites. As some will start the count down the second the bot stops moving, while other bots will be stationary for 10-15 seconds after they obviously get knocked out. Some only start when the driver says they cant move. And at least 1-2 seasons favour american robots, had had thing agInst minotaur.
