Chet Atkins recorded the album (Neck & Neck) in 1990 with Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits) that shows the great talent of both men. Chet Atkins was known as "Mr. Guitar" & "The Country Gentleman". He was an American musician, occasional vocalist, songwriter & record producer. His legendary career spanned six decades from the 40s-90s. He was known as as one of the best guitarists with his electric speed, melodic playing & unique finger-picking guitar style. Chet Atkins also played the mandolin, fiddle, banjo & ukulele. He won numerous awards & influenced a lot of artists & musicians.
Chet's family was too poor to afford a guitar, so he fashioned his first guitar from a ukulele strung from screen door wire. His innovative fingerstyle guitar playing covered all elements of country, pop and jazz elements. Amazing !!! From the 1990 collaborative album, " Neck to Neck", Mark and Chet display a variety of guitar techniques. Playing with a jazzy sensibility and complete lack of egos, the album is a masterpiece of their shared guitar supremecy. Beautiful song. Great reaction Handsome Harri ❤❤ Beautiful choice Agnete ❤👏👏 Cheers from Canada ❤❤🇨🇦🇨🇦
Thank you so much Harri for following me down memory Lane, Chet Atkins is very worthy of a deep dive into all his different walks in music. He worked with so many stellar musiciens. Love his music with Mark Knopler 🎉❤😊
Chet was so much more than a country guitarist. He appreciated talent and good music in any genre. I have an old cd he produced that includes performances with Larry Carlton, Earl Klugh, Mark Knopfler George Benson. It's called Stay Tuned and it remains one of my favorites nearly 30 years after its release. I snagged a used copy on eBay to replace the one I loaned and never got back. Seriously, you won't regret getting it. There's only one track on the album I could take it or leave it.
Agnete, this was an absolutely fabulous submission. Chet was a pioneer and talented singer, songwriter, and producer. It was a real treat to see Mark Knopfler, Michael McDonald, and so many others play with Chet. As good as it gets.👏Harri, 👏 for you too.
Eddie Van Halen said he was able to visit Chet, and wanted to show him his hammer-on techniques. Chet said, oh, like this? Yeah, Chet had been doing it for some time.
Wow, that was incredible! Incredible musicianship by both of these greats. Many thanks, Agnete, for your stellar request, and to Harri for your reaction 🎸😍✌🏼
Thanks Harri, Excellent. There is a video thanks to youtube at this same show with Chet and Jerry Reed doing "" Summertime "" from Porgy and Bess Harri it is Wonderful.

I saw Mr. Atkins in concert once. His banter between songs was as enjoyable as his pickin'.

If you enjoyed the little bit of banter between Chet and Mark here you really need to check out They'll Be Some Changes Made by the two of them!
One of the Top 3 country guitarists of all time with one of the Top 10 rock guitarists of all time😍🥰
The young Geordie did alright for himself. He and Chet made that 'Neck and Neck' album, which is still top listening.
2 greats being generous. Thanks Harri.

If you liked this, check out Poor Man's Blues...it's great
Fantastic!
Love this one ❤
This is a great one!
Kind suggestion: One Reggae song: "Fret Not Thyself" by Third World from their Journey to Addis album
That whole album is gold. In fact the first 3 albums by Third World are as good as any reggae you've every heard.
Surprise mash...
