Doing an o ring replacement as we speak and your vid was very helpful. From watching other video's I found that loss of oil pressure is a common issue on high mileage LS motors. I bought my 2001 new, it has 280k on it and still runs strong, but I started it and let it idle to warm up a while back (In Colorado, it was cold) and when I came back out I thought for sure it was going to blow up it was making so much noise. So just now getting around to fixing it, cut the oil filter before I did anything and there was not a speck bearing material in it, so we're good to go!

I believe that the O rings for the oil pump should be replaced while the pan is off because they get old and crack in man cases. I need to do this exact job in order to replace that O ring.
The Verticle Cross ember bolts are 15 mm, not 13 (2006) also there is a 10 mm bolt that holds the transmission cooler lines to the oil pan that is forward of the oil level sensor-10 mm bolt. The harness that wraps around the front of the pan after you get the 10 mm bolt out you should pull it to the right to get the plastic lug out on the passenger side. 2 of the 15 bolts are long shanked and mount in the rear of the pan. You for sure have to move the steering rack to access a couple of the short bolts. Wear Safety glasses for sure.

I assume it's the same process as this Silverado. Can you plz provide the torque spec for the two 13 millimeter Cross Bar vertical bolts (@6:19 min)? Also, the torque spec for the driver & passenger angled support bars (@ 6:51 min)? TY
What year is this truck. I need to do this for my 2003 chevy silverado 1500 4.8 V8. Wondering if i may have a few more steps in the undercarriage. Hoping to tackle this on friday
Nope, not that bad. Only thing I didn't see immediately was to remove the steering rack bolts. Did a dodge 4wd which required removing engine mounts, trans mounts, jack the engine up, it was a mess
in the 2wd case no alignment is needed. on 4wd all you need is loosen the bolt for axel to come down 3 inches. Dont need to remove entire front axel. Yes, lots of 4wd vd out there not many 2wd. Also good ins to change the pickup O- ring while the pan is out.

Rough guess, about how long did it take you? I’m planning on dropping the oil pan on my truck and will multiply my time by 3

you don't say the process for the LONG SCREWS ( TORqUE) or all SCREWS on the OIL Pan are TORqUe IN THE SAME FT/PUNDS.

It was for the oil level sensor, but the hole where you unclip the sensor was facing down

@@LucidRelaxation619 there are 2 points on the gasket in the aft that you should apply it, I believe it's for the rear cover.
