This is the best sketchbook tour I've seen by anyone. I love your work, including the tree fail which I thought was gorgeous. You have a really interesting and engaging way of talking which kept me hooked till the end of the video, which I'm glad about as I would hate to have missed the stunning painting of Selu in the woods.

You truly have an eye for foliage n plants. You could prob be a botanical illustrator, like some of the ones I've met. I wasn't rly into the wedding n castle/nobility n monarchy theme, just bc it felt a little uncritical to me, as a woman of color. The kelpies in Scotland with the scultpures were awesome. And my favorite illustration was actually that one tree u felt "meh" about, vry beautiful. Your cat coming thru the forest had a certain magic too.
I love 1) That you eloped to Scotland and 2) I was going to ask if you went to Gretna Green in manner of Jane Austen and then there you were at Chawton with the wallpaper that I painstakingly tried to replicate in miniature for my miniature late Georgian roombox for Christmas 2022. Love all these portraits!

Being a Kentucky gal, are you aware of the Jane Austen Society of North America (JASNA) annual general meeting (like Austen Con) in KY every....August or something like that? I have never been (YET) but I do belong to a historical English Country Dance group and we have costume balls and everything.

Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment! My advice would be practice practice practice, but to be more specific: 1) carry a sketchbook and pencil with you everywhere - if you remove as many barriers to being creative as you can, the more likely you are to fall into the habit of regular drawing; and 2) focus on observation - look at a thing, draw the thing, repeat. You're training your eye as much as your hand, and really it's about shortening the proverbial "distance" between the two, with the goal of your hand becoming an extension of your eye, if that makes sense. A book I always recommend is "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" by Betty Edwards . It was written in the 70s, but it's a mainstay for a reason - full of really useful exercises to help you along. I used it as a student, and again later as a teacher! Best of luck to you, dear

I am an artist with a studio and I spend my life creating art for samples for my studio for classes, and I have lost my ability to make art for just me. Your art is incredible. I love it all.
