My grandma told me to sprinkle black pepper on cauliflower and broccoli as it grows to keep the white butterflies away. It works. Your little guy sure loved that rabbit.

This was really helpful to see. I’m on a low fat, low fiber liquid diet right now too and I’m running out of ideas. I can’t do nut butters or oils unfortunately. Also I’ve found that legumes are hard on me :((( which is so sad because rip hummus. I’m sometimes ok if I do a little at a time (1 tbsp hummus, eaten slowly). I can also do like 1/2 tbsp of peanut butter sometimes if I’m craving it but it does give me pain and nausea.
When my dietitian suggested I try adding in hummus again I got so excited I bought 3 containers 😅 so you’re not the only one who gets overexcited buying things they can’t eat.
    Anyway thanks for sharing 🩷

I'm so glad to hear you are making peace with not pushing so hard, but at the same time you're not giving up on finding a way to nourish your body! You are inspiring!
The protien thing is a really good point! Makes a lot of sense! Protein doesn't contribute much to energy so if we aren't getting much carbs or fat because of being so full from protien, it would make sense to feel tired and low energy.

I love this comment so much! I really appreciate your encouragement! I have been doing better with this diet the more I experiment and find what works best. I find that in order to have consistent energy at work, eating higher protein blended/liquid meals during the morning and afternoon is best, but for dinner eating a high protein meal makes me feel quite ill. Switching from a protein smoothie for dinner to blended vegetable soups has helped a lot! They are so much easier to digest for me and my post-dinner walk with Robert helps ease any pain from fullness. The key for me has been sorting out when protein helps my energy versus when it depletes my energy from the effort it takes to digest. I hope you are doing well this week.

The the tomato soup eaters I use to throw in Texas toast croutons until they soften and it was glorious lol

I’ve somehow never heard of adding croutons to soup! I add siracha to my tomato soup sometimes which I think is kinda weird lol. Thanks for the suggestion 😀

Wow, those food options look so good! I wish we had stuff like that where I am from 🙈
Something that has helped me a lot with food prep is having an instant pot. It has cut down my prep work so much and reduced dishes used for making a single meal. When I have no energy to cook it’s so easy to chop up a few things for a soup, throw it in the instant pot and an hour after I started the meal is ready and delicious 😊

Thank you for the instant pop suggestion! I love that idea! We used to make a lot of slow cooker meals when we were first married. Robert has some really tasty slow cooker specialties. I would love to get back into doing meals like that, even if they were mostly for Robert. We don’t have an instant pot, but certainly on my list of kitchen appliances to look into for the future!

Here's a tip for the coffee thing. In the past before I gastroparesis I could drink a 16 oz latte and be perfectly fine but now I couldn't even dream of drinking that that much liquid in one sitting. So what I do is I get 4 shots of espresso. Or very high potent expresso. Which comes out to about 5 oz. 4 oz or 6 oz. Add other stuff and make my own caffeinated drinks. Hope this helps. Much love 🤗

Thank you for the suggestion! I'm going to keep with the 12 ounce lattes for as long as I can push through the pain, but it's good to know there's another way for the future if this stops being tolerable. Those last few sips are always tough, even though I want to enjoy the yummy taste of the drink.

I will say this that even though following the gastroparesis with having gastroparesis helps but doesn't always help, even though I will be following it pretty strictly. I will still have days where regardless if I follow it prestinely I will still have a flare. It will not be as bad and will not last as longer But I can still flare up. I just wanted to let you know this. Because it might happen and I don't want you to be discouraged when it does. I will say this though that eating 5 small meals a hasn't helped my gain weight especially as a person who struggles with putting on weight I got on the scale this morning and I'm 89 pounds, the are 5 small meals a days aint gonna do s*** for my wight gain and that terrifies me, that's why a lot of us who have gastroparesis end up being tubed. My body cannot keep up with those small meals. It needs to be bulked up again. I do take reglan often and do the gastroparesis diet cuase my stomach just doesn't wanna work so I take regulan often... I do stay away from salads and seeds because that is like the worst When you have gastroparesis.. I wish doctors wouldn't wait until s*** gets really bad to intervene. I know that in order for my body to be reset after losing weight for the past 8 months I know I'm probably gonna be tubed eventually. I'm not saying this to scare anyone or scare you. I'm just frustrated at the fact that the doctors will give you something to follow. And think that's gonna work, and then they leave you until you get worse. And then you have to tell them that you're worse and so forth... What I hate about the gastroparesis diet Is that because it's 5 small meals a day, You don't get a lot of calories and for me. I'm burning more calories that I take in just by doing average day s*** Which p***** me off Because I'm a professional singer and I need all the muscle I can around my diaphragm and in my body to perform. And because of this f****** disease, I'm losing weight. Which means I'm going to lose my voice, the Thing that gives me life. I just hope the best for you with this diet's its not a life saver, but it definitely does help our pain nausea and our other symptoms. And I hope you can get that gastroparesis diagnosis.
I really hope this wasn't discouraging or depressing

I appreciate all that you have said here. It makes me sad to know that your gastroparesis has progressed to the point it is currently at. I wish you did not have to suffer so much every day. I understand what you mean about how terrifying this illness is. I'm sorry that your doctors are not intervening sooner. It has frustrated me so much to realize how bad doctors will let things get before they go to interventions like feeding tubes. I know the prospect of a feeding tube is certainly scary and comes with a lot of it's own issues, but it is terrifying that doctors seem fine to let their patients go for so long struggling to get nutrition and struggling to stay at a healthy weight. I would be really angry if I was in your position too. It's really cool you are a professional singer! That's amazing. I am tone deaf and I can't sing at all. I am always impressed by people who can sing. As far as my expectations for this diet, I still have symptoms eating this way. I still have pain and nausea and feel over full after eating. The difference with this diet is, like you said, the symptoms pass more quickly which allows me to eat a lot more throughout the day then I can if I rely on solid food. I have had more energy eating this way and have felt generally more nourishment from being able to absorb the food better. However, I am scared of the efficacy of this diet declining. I worry about the day when my weight starts going down again if this diet stops helping me get enough calories to hold weight. I'm just trying to get through the days as best as I can and try to take each day that I get through as a success. The worst part of this illness is not knowing what is to come or how bad it will get or when it will progress. It's hard for me to watch videos from a year ago because I was doing so much better back then and I didn't really know it. Thank you for sharing your experience and providing all the information that you do. I really appreciate it. I hope you have a good week.

I’m now on antibiotics because if Cabo and the pilori bacteria again. This is the hardest ever. I feel you. Two days of intense pain and vimiting. This has been the worst flairup up ever. I really appreciate your ideas. I can hardly tell the brands you had. Is sprouts the only place to purchase those items? I’m diabetic as well. Uggh.

I used to juice. I got a really nice juicer about a year ago and imagined that I would juice every week. I even have some favorite recipes. What holds me back is how time consuming it is. All the prep time and clean up for juice that will only be good for a handful of days. If I had more time in my life, I’d certainly juice more often. Robert always reminds me I should use our juicer! I’m really glad it works for you 😊 Fresh juice is amazing!

I'm not a doctor, this is not medical advice, and you should consult your own doctor about this. However, I do a variety of things. I primarily use Linzess (linaclotide) which is an active laxative every day at a moderate dose. I supplement it by drinking a lot of saltwater since I have extremely low blood pressure and light headedness (and the saltwater seems to improve these primarily but also helps GI motility as a secondary effect). When things get really bad, I will take a huge dose of MiraLAX and magnesium citrate as if I were doing a colonoscopy prep, which generally resets things.
