      I've actually never watched DKDKTV's videos on the rap line songs, but I do get these comments a lot when reacting to UGH and Ddaeng. Maybe I'll check them out soon! I was able to learn a lot about these songs from Genius and a few other videos on the breakdown of their lyrics.

    To fully undertand Ugh (and after he hears Ddaeng) is to watch the explaination videos by DKDKTV. There's UGH Explained by a Korean and other songs. He would see how deep all these songs really are.

      @SnapCracklyPop 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is a must! The translation in that lyric video is rough. Please react to it together. Plus you also have to do DKDKTV explain when you do DDAENG. Link for UGH: th-cam.com/video/Cq3nGiu0_gI/w-d-xo.html and Ddaeng: th-cam.com/video/fdJl1SL03Ac/w-d-xo.html

      That's right. DKDKTV basically explains every single verse in song so you have a bigger spectrum on BTS lyrics.
      Also the color coded lyric video you used has messed up recognition of the members in some parts of the song

    Actually, K-pop is just one part of the Korean music scene. This is because the general public sees K-pop as an idol industry. Therefore, K-pop is perceived as a feminine boy band. However, if you look at the Korean music charts, various genres of music such as ballad, hip-hop, r&b English-American pop, and rock gain popularity. At the top of the chart, there are more songs by other artists than idol music. It's the same with drama and music. You know that Korean dramas only have romantic comedies. In fact, there are dozens of great dramas that are not romantic comedies. The same goes for movies. There are countless great movies other than Parasite and Train to Busan. It's not until now that Korean culture is recognized, and Korean content has been great since 20 years ago. It's just that the United States didn't know about it.
    Korean culture was approaching the American public without realizing it just by looking at the Good Doctor or Masked Singer right now. There are many overseas broadcasters remaking Korean content. Other than that, if you look at the Korean beauty industry, webtoon, or e-sports industry, it is amazing. Korean culture is already huge.

    RM & SUGA come from underground rapping. 😭😭 it’s killing me please absorb that. Should also react to their cyphers dissing those haters in the rap space that tried to discredit their ability. They produce, write they just do everything. Jhop started rapping after joining and obviously is killing it. I mean come on he had RM & SUGA two of the best rappers to help guide him! But seriously check out the cyphers

  • @WorldReserveCurrency
    @WorldReserveCurrency 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm not sure if people are aware, but I know a lot of emphasis about the expansion of Korean culture is associated to Kdrama, kpop, and kmovies. But it actually started around 2008 in the underground hip hop bboy culture when korean bboy groups were dominating the world state at Battle of the Year. You can look up old videos of Rivers Crew, Morning of Owl, Drifter's crew, etc. These crews would show up to Europe and you would have French, German, Italian fans waving Korean flags. This was the dawn of power moves and some of these moves other break dancers had never seen before until they saw the Korean crews. It's definitely addicting also. One of the OGs, Hong10 was I think the first member of the Red Bull professional dance crews. He's still in it. And Red Bull BC One contest is even bigger than Battle of the Year.

For me they sort of "use" the form of boyband and pop music for a purpose that is usually meet in independent music and classic hip-hop. I believe the above refers to rhyme schemes, lyrical-ness, and translated words/phrases which do not carry the same connotations as they do in the original language. For instance, four-character idioms in Chinese, chengyu, do not translate over to English too well.

    Okay... I liked his first impressions of Ugh, and I do understand how it's not fully understood, for someone as I am also, when I listen to music, lirics are very important, in all the genres, don't completely get the feeling if I don't like the lirics or don't understand, unfortunately Bts are the only artist that I took the time to go through the translations, so that when I listen to a song I know what they are talking about.
    One more thing, all this success of Squid game, yes Korean language, actors(great),..the games, culture? Hmmm childhood games are a very small part of any culture (and of this movie) isn't this story about human life, human beings, human society, humans all, not just Koreans!
    Then again.. just the other year a Korean film, great director, script, acting, all Korean, won an Oscar!!! Nothing?? Just Netflix... :((

    @ Brooke Morrison, why don’t you do a explanation video which will be by a Korean through DKDK TV then he will be able to understand the Korean metaphors that are not well received in the English language because there’s a lot more behind it than just being a diss track to their haters! so please when you do BTS reactions to somebody who totally has no understanding of Korean metaphors and the English translation is not going to be understandable like he said, an explanation video would be the next route to go especially when the rap line has so much more meaningful to say. He will also be able to understand that BTS rap line in general don’t have the same type of rap as American hip-hop that they tend to be more meaningful And social issues, that they bring attention to! Maybe he can react to the Cyphers 1-4 there’s also color-coded lyrics for those they may not be 100% accurate either but then he’ll be able to see the progression from 2013 to 2018 when the covering of the 4 Cyphers in that time span shows the evolution of their rap! I would also like to suggest Hip Hop lover/ Phile also a color-coded lyric where you can see all seven members of BTS including the vocalists, and the rap line are paying homage to the legends of hip-hop. Hope to see him on your channel again to react to more BTS rapline💜✌️

    No one would take the writer script in S. Korea... because Squid Game is actually a mocking of the government and showing how capitalism can be evil and corrupt. Most behind the scenes over look this due to the sensitive nature of the topic. The same themes are in BTS-- SPRING DAY!!! Over 9000 plus artists were on a blacklist supporting issues like Sewol Ferry disaster and creating art like Snowpiercer. This movie was seen as direct opposition to the S. Korean leaders at that time. Bong Joon-ho, director of Snowpiecer, who was on the blacklist. His movie was highly influential many artists and is an ongoing theme of Squid Games. In addition, in one seen you of Squid Games... there is a reference to the worrying about that the police officier, Hwang Jun-ho, calling for help before falling into the see, because the Coast Guard will not come. In Sewol Ferry disaster 304 people died of which 250 were kids on a field trip. The corrupt Coast Guards taking orders from corrupt government officials did not help the 304 people causing their death. The people were told to stay put and cabin doors were locked. Later the captain and crew left the ship allowing the ship to sink with the people still inside. All were hiding the fact that the boat was carried 3 to 4 more cargo than was mandated by law. The large amount of government officials were profiting the illegal actions and did not want a scandal due to a presidential and government elections being right around the corner. So... they tried to cover it up by sacrificing 304 lives, mainly children. Due to this... the President was removed and Captain and crew were sent to jail. However, there are many others were have high influence who were not charged. To this day, the families of the victims are wanting for answers. This is why Spring Day is still on the charts... and BTS so respected by fans who know. There are still powers in S. Korea that are waiting for BTS fail due there song and MV becoming so popular.
    Please watch Spring Day explained by Italian army...
    Please also watch Ugh explained by Korean to get full explanation of the meaning of UGH... lyrics are very deep. Would be fun to see how your friend reacts to the explanation.
