Oh my gosh, this is such a fun and yet frustrating strategy! In my latest run at it, I forgot to take two states in the Middle East during the peace conference, so Ger got them, and I didn't get the Roman Empire until after I declared on GER and took them. Then, during my Barbarossa against the Soviets, I ignored stability, and while halfway to Moscow, the council took over, I lost half my generals, and my unit's performance plummeted. lol
I think Italy is hands down the most fun major to play in hoi4! But don't you tell me about forgetting stuff in the peace conference hahah it happened to me so many times... I now always save before ending the war and I saved a map of the corable land for the Roman Empire to check every time before ending the conference! The council taking over never happened to me, what caused it?
I'm not too sure. I also forgot to take Mussolini's favorable decisions in the balance of power between him and the council. It seems to be a bit of a death spiral if you don't keep Mussolini strong on the BoP side because stability goes down once the council starts taking over. The Imperium Romana became the Repubblica Sociale Italiana. Mussolini's still the head of government, though, which seems odd. @@MachiavellianStrategist

An absolute Masterclass in encirclements. Learned a lot from this one. I completely conquered the USA, and now the Soviet Union is the final task. They are currently in a big war against China, and I learned from you that if I declare war on them now, I essentially join that war and have a large hill to climb to catch up to China in warscore. I don't want that. One thing that bothers me about HOI4. Any time you declare war on a country that's already in a war, you automatically join that war and share the warscore with non-allies. I have a question, I noticed you didn't really focus on Air Force positioning during your Italian Barbarossa. Did you use your Air Force at all? What are your thoughts on its importance in general? I notice a lot of smart youtube HOI4 strategists seem to either not use, or not really show the use of their Airforce during large wars. Are the benefits so minimal that it's not worth the micromanaging? I have about 18,000 planes that I brought to bear on the USA in my most recent war in 1947-1948. Just wondering if it's worth all the micro to bring them to bear against the Soviets. I have the entire Soviet front full of the top-tier rockets as well. Thanks.
Hi! And thank you for your comment! I agree, having to share the warscore is annoying, although there probably was no other way of implementing it. As for the air force, it is extremely important! I would say it is one of the 3 most important things for a successful push, together with good templates and supplies. That beings said, you do not always need to micromanage it (it becomes tedious pretty fast, especially when you advance quickly). To avoid micromanagement you can assign your planes to your armies and they will automatically move to the closest airports and be assigned to the important regions (they do not do it as well as when you micro them, but it's still better than nothing). Thank you! It's easier than you think. As long as you have good armored templates you can easily cut salients through them and then create encirclements, it's very fun too!
Thanks for strat, managed to do a WC with it pretty easily. Another option is to paracheese France and invase GB in the 36-37, while declaring on the minors in between. It will be even faster than to wait for 1939, you should try it.
