@@aryan7767 not really cuz they are selling them as the real ones. Until they start tackling them as clones, which they haven’t as they brought it up once but brushed it off, then the deaths are meaningless. It also makes the characters a lot weaker than what they really are. Wolverine fought Thanos with the infinity gauntlet, yet is getting killed by robots. This would be understandable if it wasn’t for the fact that he’s survived nukes and the sun.
There's a novel called 'The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August' by Claire North, the basis of which is very similar to how McTaggert's life resets upon death, and how each life plays out differently. Would highly recommend if you're a fan of what Hickman did with McTaggert (38:15)
This sort of thing is what I was hoping the movie "Infinite" was going to end up as, until they got Wahlberg and turned it into pretty much standard action shlock instead of what it could potentially have been. The idea of someone reincarnating life after life and accumulating knowledge and experience of a world that ends up changing around them is very interesting.
47:57 I think something like this happened in Heroes, a tv series that came out in 2006, where a kid who had manifested the ability to suck up the oxygen around him had accidentally killed everyone in his school.
Hickman's take on these characters and the way he uses them in such a complex and interwoven story is so enthralling. Inspiring to read as a writer, honestly.
Agreed. I love Claremont. 90's X-Men TAS honors him, mainly. I don't think it should be recreated after Fox's debacle. Hickman's run should be the MCU blueprint to focus more on the stories leading up to a big event. X-Men is all about characters and stories.
I've gotten only variant covers for every issue. I think Johnathan Hickman has once again crafted a masterpiece. I never thought it was possible that the xmen could be renovated this way after all of the nonsense the fans have had to deal with since the fox movies.

If we want to be technical, one could presume Magneto a telepath, part and thanks to the ability to mess with electromagnetic waves. He could literally tamper with brain chemistry. He could stop your heart beat by stopping the battery like pulse it produces to keep going. You could probably get a massive mountain of ideas of what he MIGHT be able to do, in fact, Magneto has one of the most interesting a large scale lists out there, because electromagnetism is such a fundamental component to almost everything in existence related to matter. I even imagine him capable of separating the bonds of physical matter by releasing it of its electromagnetism. He's probably even capable of affected the strong and weak nuclear forces because of it. I'm certain, that if Magneto devoted his life to studying his own power, he would find out to some at least SMALL degree, he really is a reality warping character. Lastly, one who can control magnetism inherently should be able to control the freeflow directional patterns of electricity itself, essentially saying if Magento wanted to become a lightning rod, well, scientifically speaking.... he technically should be able to.
That's not what telepathy is and Magneto is already classified as an Omega level mutant, meaning there is no upper limit to what he can do with his powers. Although he is capable of reality warping as that's a completely separate ability that mutants like Proteus have.
@@dogico telepathy is communication of thought. If you can affect electromagnetic waves, you can affect thought. You can also as mentioned above affect the heart and even the very neurological pathways from the brain to the rest of the human body, because you're a walking talking electromagnetic field. That's just basic neurology and physics. Even down to the atom and dark matter, electromagnetism is a fundamental part of it, which mind you, Magneto can affect.
@@TheWatchmanOfTheEnd mutant telepathy doesn't work through electromagnetism, and Magneto can't read minds via electromagnetism ergo he's not a telepath.
Dude this is would be an amazing storyline! They should use this idea as a plot twist in a future series, e.g. in a battle between Magneto and a telepath.
yeah magneto has fired both lightning and lasers before, but only once each, and not many people know about it. basically the writers did it once and just dropped it. but, he has full command of the electromagnetic spectrum, so why not? he even pulled kitty back when she was trapped in that giant space bullet from across the universe with his magnetism, although he had to be hopped up on that mutant drug that amplifies their powers, and he suffered a miniature stroke doing it. Still, if he can use his power across that much distance .... yeesh.
The story is Groundhog Day, they are caught in a infinite loop tied in to her birth, death and rebirth. Even if she is able to create the perfect world, it will end with her death.
I theorize that if they ever do come to some form of peace, she will find a way to destroy herself from existence in a way where she does not die, simply does not exist in her original form or in any form at all. Or more likely, she will freeze herself in time in some manner, inside of a universal spaceraft like in Secret Wars 2015, so she will live and be ready for anything the x-men need (including dying for a reset if they're peace went to pot) and/or survive into the next universe, destroying her chance at being reborn into a universe that doesn't exist.
@@ML-yn9yu No. I'm about 40 minutes in and he clearly thinks, at this point, that she dies and is born at the point in time that she dies. That her first life was "around 100 years before" her second, he says that specifically. He might get a better grasp later in the video but at this point he's not understanding it.
Small note rob, magneto is 100% able to slow his aging. Hence why a guy who was born during the Holocaust is still alive. It’s been discussed in many books including asteroid x
After binging tons of your full stories and smaller ones. 1) you’ve got the best TH-cam channel for sure. 2) Hickman is consistently the best author and probably best in Marvel’s history
Rob, I think you're favourite X-Man is... I think it's Legion. Coz MAN LEMME TELL Y'ALL SOMETHIN', Legion is awesome, just pure awesomeness, and I'm really interested in the fact that Legion was included in the list of omega level mutants, so like, where is David, and what have the other personalities been up to? Have they increased in number? Maybe they've actually decreased in numbers, they could merge personalities?? Multiple different superpowers and different traits of other personalities, a little bit like Rasputin
You do realize every time she dies she's reborn back into her original body with the same parents at the same time that she was born originally with all the knowledge because otherwise she wouldn't be able to take information to the past unless she was reborn back into the past that's her beauty to be born back it's time of birth again every time you die

@@tchoythao1730 we as readers didn’t know that at that moment for sure, like it was hinted but tbh most of us forgot. And it doesn’t really cheapen it cause tbh they really did die. The reincarted body is a clone with all the exact memories and feelings before death, but that wolverine and the team did actually die
Yo, that speech by Apocalypse as he fights those Nimrods is one of the most BALLER moments in the history of the X-Men
This is more of a "why I love Hickman writing" Fan tribute than anything else lmao.
P. S: you've made me a Hickman fan
His run is over already lol
Don’t how to feel about it. It was decent but I’ve seen far better runs.
This event was a giant love letter to sci-fi and I couldn't love it more.
Already watched the individual videos... oh well, here we go again
>Relatable comment
There's a novel called 'The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August' by Claire North, the basis of which is very similar to how McTaggert's life resets upon death, and how each life plays out differently. Would highly recommend if you're a fan of what Hickman did with McTaggert (38:15)
That is a great book! I keep meaning to check out more of her stuff.
Man Hickman himself is a masterpiece like Stan Lee.
This is indeed a masterpiece
Funny how after Disney bought Fox we get GOOD Xmen stories
At least the movies didn't make the X-Men a creepy soulless cult.
Can somebody explain how resurrected Wolverine has adamantium? Wait does he? If he does that's a massive plothole.

Monolith G Tattooing right! I really want to support DoX because of the great foundation Hickman built, but I think there are too many titles and it’s too slow for me to want to keep up. Maybe I’ll pick one or two to keep up with and hopefully ComicsExplained will fill in the gaps!

I am attempting it now. I quit x books years ago shortly after secret wars.... Jumping into this i had no clue about anything and im fairly well versed in x lore but hickman has an uncanny ability to confuse the hell out of me. I cant help but think this book is hickman sucking himself off in many ways, i think he thinks hes the smartest writer in the world. I think its okay, its nowhere near his FF work. I am still deciding if this book is horrible, or good. Im not sure yet its gonna take awhile as i get into the books that come after.
So this is basically the X-Men version of the movie Groundhog Day
I know this can be seen as an old video now but I have to say. Thank you Rob, your passion alone is worth the stay. I absolutely love to listen to all (real OG here since the early days). This was yet another story well done. Voice over was amazing to listen to and the visual edits done excellently too. I feel a better comic fan for being a Rob fan.
As much as I loved this run and that AMAZING art work, Moira is right. The always lose. They never get a good ending. And while I don't expect the X-men comics to stop being printed, it's really depressing to realize that they will probably make progress enough to have some semblance of peace.

Bro, let me tell you something..
I'm 37 years old. The last time I picked up an X-Men comic book was back in the late 90's. I remember Operation Zero Tolerance, Search For Professor X, and the Magneto War being the last stories I read.
I gave up after that. It was just all filler IMO.
But bro, I'm back in! This was so the direction the X-Men needed. Thanks for what you do.
Gambit? He's my favorite X-Man

Even if she is able to create the perfect world, it will end with her death.
thank you his strange confused read on this was driving me crazy.
