I live in Germany right on the border with Alsace. It's refreshing to see that even close to me, there is still strong tradition. In Basel there are two parishes that celebrate the Extraordinary Form, for all I know, so that's also cool. Que le bon Dieu soit avec toi, mon ami.
That first Church is the one I go to. It is the Oratory of Saint Francis de Sales. It is in Saint Louis, and I am extremely blessed to have been baptised and confirmed there last year.

I wish this were the case - the grandiosity, the pageantry, the marvel, the wonder, the heritage, the history, the excellence, the greatness and beauty. Yet when you get there, you just see an empty shell with the veneer of something special, which has since been washed over by the sands of time. The sanctity and holiness just is not there. Every procession, every mass, every baptism, every communion, is just a series of running through the motions. It’s sad, more than sad - it is a disgrace unto the tradition of the church, unto the sacrifice of those who upheld it in past times and propelled the faith, who fought for the faith, who built the church, who died for it. Anybody worth their honesty will admit to you this. There is a fundamental lacking in the church, and I sincerely wish this weren’t so.
What is missing is what you have to bring in with you. The holiness of life is recharged at the liturgy, exercised at home, work, and family, and returned to the.Master for an accounting.

This isn't real catholicism. This is Latin Mass which is a kind of fringe movement that only exists in certain cities. Real catholicism is much more boring and simple.
You are sorely mistaken and lack insight. I wish you would attend a few latin masses and study the history of the mass. Before the 60s, you could pretty much only find latin masses. The latin mass was built by Saints, and Novus Ordo was built by liturgists. The promises of Novus Ordo did not come to fruition. Latin mass draws in young families and people who study the faith.
Latin Mass is beautiful but beware those who state that the Latin Mass is the only "true" mass and/or the Novus Ordo is evil in of itself. The Novus Ordo has been ratified by the Popes who require our religious assent of will and intellect.
It's the western rite for almost 2000, the rite all pagans in Europe and Americas knew. The rite of all the saints and the rite of our grandparents until 1960
This is the real Catholicism, actually. I live in the Philippines where novus ordo is the Mass everywhere because of the changes in the 60s. But, despite that, I know that there is a more profound and reverent meaning to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass than what we see in the novus ordo. It just isn't given full expression. . And that if our bishops were to make it more fully expressed it would be the grandeur and mystery of the Tridentine Latin Mass.
