Sabaton is so good, they dont care if its German or French or Serbian and Bulgarian they respect great military feats from all sides of the war.

Listening to Great War after Sarajevo and The War to End all Wars after Versailles really bring home the true weight of the historical events Sabaton sings about in those songs. Try it sometime.

Not only does Versailles have the narration throughout, but also, it mixes in a part of Sarajevo. It goes from "From a shot the would change the world" in Sarajevo, to "Signed a treaty to change the world" which changes back to the verse from Sarajevo. In the grand scheme of the album, it's beautiful storytelling.

I think dreadnought has too be my favourite just because at the start I thought it was a bit meh, but by the end I loved it and found my self humming it at work. I fits really well with the dreadnought theme. I'm excluding Christmas truce from list because I think everyone can agree it is a masterpiece.

I love the story of Milunka Savic and am hoping that some of her biographies, which are currently only published in Serbian, will be reprinted in English. She fought in the First and Second Balkan Wars (she was revealed as a woman due to injuries suffered in the Second Balkan War) and was leading a grenadier unit during the Great War.

Loving the Sabaton reactions and the way you expand on the history in each song. I'm looking forward to watching some of your other non-reaction content when I get some time too.
You might already be familiar with it, but Iron Maiden's "Paschendale" is another absolutely fantastic song about the First World War I'd recommend checking out - it's a song that really manages to create an atmosphere that fits perfectly with the story it tells.

    Extended history:
    For "the valley of death"
''There is no war that the British had more casualties at once than the battle of Dorian'' - Loid Gorge
    The first battle of Dorian.
The battle of Doiran took place for the first time in august 1916 when the Bulgarians hold the city at the cost of many lives. After that, the defense was given to colonel Vladimir Vazov. In the following 3 years, new defenses were built around Doiran. Three main lines of defense - front, intermediate, and main with concreted and rock shelters to protect every single soldier in artillery fire.
The second battle of Doiran (Valley of death).
On the 24th of April 1917, British troops attacked, after many bloody fights they managed to take several positions in the Bulgarians line. After the fearless Bulgarian counter-attack, the British took massive casualties and retread.
On the 9th of May, there was another attack with pretty much the same result with one difference the British army suffered enormous casualties. The defeat of the Entente forces was so severe that they waited almost a year and a half for the next third offensive. They lost 12,000 soldiers versus the 2,000 Bulgarian soldiers. According to ''times'', the soldier of the Britain army started to call the ''Boris point'' ''The valley of death'' or how most Bulgarians know it ''The England graveyard''.
    The third battle of Dorian.
In September 1918 the entente forces opened artillery fire at the Bulgarian's trenches and for the first time they used poisonous gas for these positions, 9 chemical attacks were made. They continued for approximately 10 days. 18th of September they lunch their offensive. Thousand of Ententes forces attacked but to their surprise the Bulgarian army expected them. They had excellently prepared under the leadership of the promoted general Vladimir Vazov. The English forces after many fights managed to overcome the Front and intermediate line mainly because of their huge numerical superiority. On the 19th there was another chemical attack, then they launched a massive offensive. General Vladimir Vazov was waiting for the decisive moment and on the same day he threw into battle his reserve divisions with an irresistible counter-attack, the Bulgarians returned the intermediate position and then the front line. 14,000 British and Greek versus 1,200 Bulgarian casualties.
Germany called Doiran ''Little Verdun'' after the third battle.
Right after the success of the Bulgarian army general Vladimir Vazov on the 20th of September 1918 got an order to abandon that position because the southern front collapsed elsewhere in ''Dobro pole''.
But until the 23rd of September, the Entente did not dare to move closer to the abandoned positions. They were feared that the Bulgarians are still there. 7 days later Bulgaria left the war.

    5.) Lady of the Dark

This morning, I showed my sister LotD and she said, from the very beginning, that it sounds like the real-life story of the movie, "She's the Man". I was thinking more of a real-life, more badass, Mulan, but whatever. XD

Idk if they meant for “infantry attacks” to have any double meaning, but I believe that was the name of the book rommel wrote that got him promoted by Hitler to lead a panzer division. Also the “book” patton speaks of in the movie “rommel, i read your book!”

An ironic fact about the Dreadnought-class battleships. The first, HMS Dreadnought, actually hardly saw any combat. Her only significant action was ramming the German U-Boat SM U-29 and sinking it. She was the only battleship confirmed to have sunk a submarine. She was reduced to reserve in 1919 and scrapped two years later.

Milunka Savić took her brother's place in the army, everyone was thinking she was a man, till she got wounded and doctors found out. She single-handedly captured 20+ soldiers from one trench in WW1. After the war, nobody knew who she was until her late life. She fought in Balkan wars and WW1. Absolutely crazy story

The 369th Infantry Regiment (Harlem Hellfighters) were as a unit awarded the Croix de Guerre with palm. 171 members of that unit were also individually awarded the medal along with the nation's highest award, the Légion d'Honneur.
That has the same rules concerning salutes as the VC or CMoH, but I somehow doubt if the recipients were treated that well by their immediate (white) US superiors, even when still in France, where it is a legal requirement.

I’d love to see you branch out from sabaton in your music reactions. Corb Lund makes lots of historical songs but I’d start with Horse Soldier th-cam.com/video/EIWINsaEpnw/w-d-xo.html
You could talk about all the references that people aren’t likely to catch like Mayor Thorpe, “polish lances charging German tanks”, charge of the light brigade, and even the different breeds of horses mentioned. It’s a great song written from the POV of the eternal cavalryman.
There are also MANY American civil war based songs I could recommend. Branch out!
