Personally I like the Bountiful Luck racial/species feat for an Halfling Divination Wizard. It's almost never banned unlike Lucky, the whole party can make use of it, and there's no limit so it's fantasting for outside of combat like checks during exploration, investigation or social situations.
I was wondering when you were going to mention the Halfling in this video all about rerolling things, though you skipped over the Halfling feat that allows you to finally achieve peak, ultimate, pinnacle eyeroll . . . Bountiful Luck, making not only your own nat 1s disappear, but your ally's as well. Now I sit and wait for Eloquence Bard to enter the poll. Or the Ghostslayer Blood Hunter
Another great video. I love starting this build with a level 1 artificer dip. Giving your self armor and shields as well as the faerie fire spell makes this character even harder for a dm to deal with.

For a while now I've had an idea for a divination wizard fighter named Hienin(pronounce like high-nin). In his world he is called a Soothweaver and has the ability to see into the rivers of time. Because of this, Hienin has developed a happy-nihilistic mindset as I like to call it, basically meaning that he likes to live life in a hedonistic lifestyle because he knows life will end via Great disaster, Armageddon, apocalyptic scenario bullshit you know, which is what led to him having a very chaotic neutral alignment, so basically he wants to live to see the end of times, meaning he only uses his powers to stop him from dying prematurely. He only parties with a giving party because he just needs extra help to keep him alive essentially he treats the other party members as bodyguards. He's also a bit of a thrill-seeker so sometimes he won't even use his powers to see into the future to avoid traps or anything because he wants to live life to the upmost batshit insane, he will only use who's divination Powers if his life is on.

I like the idea of a div wizard who's basically the opposite of in control, at least internally. Having seen a grave potent of misfortune in their future, constantly looking for ways to escape and delay their vague ill-begotten fate. Only ever succeeding in pushing it back. It plays into how vague these spells can be, and I can envision the wizard spreading out a conspiracy board of possible futures with a paranoid fever after a rough encounter. Plus the tension added by the fact that they are basically trying to outrun the sun with their goal which sets them up to confront that fact in some way down the line which makes for a fairly open/dynamic arc.

Sorry to be rules lawyer, but there is an important wording in the potent feature. " You can replace any attack roll, saving throw, or ability check made by you or a creature that you can see with one of these foretelling rolls. *You must choose to do so before the roll*" So unfortunately you can't say No U if the DM crits you, or if the Rouge misses, but still a very good feature regardless, as you can tell the Palading that his next attack WILL hit so slap everything into it.
Reminder: if it wasn't for the bodies inherent prediction models, you would absolutely run into that one thing that is sticking out in your house EVERY time, instead of every other time. That's a pretty good deal. That's divination!
I;m playing a halfling Divination Wizard with Lucky and the Bountiful Luck racial feat. I am a bit of a sadist, yes... but I did make it up to my DM in many other ways; I've built several intentional weaknesses into my character, skipped a vast majority of the best spells in the game (yes, including Fireball) and tend to use my Portents for funny, amusing, or even villainous RP moments most of the time. I've rolled quite a few natural 20 Portents at the start of the day, and I don't think I've yet used a single one of them in combat.
Halfling with the lucky feat divination wizard, wild magic sorcerer, fiend warlock multiclass can make it so that the dice never roll out of favor for you
YMBAD&D does a really good job of making me hype for just about any subclass he chooses to talk about, and this is NO exception. I was so bummed out that I couldn't play a Bladesinger in BG3 after his video on it, but this easily peaked my interest in the Divination Wizard, especially the ability to just say "No" to a lot of rolls. And he's totally right, this subclass just screams 'traditional wizard'.
This one is busted in every way and I love it for that reason. 2 level in divination wiz and the rest in Cleric is great because you can still spec your character for cleric 100% with just a 13 in int and suddenly you can be a prophet in game!
Buddy of mine wants to make a card-game player, like a character who plays mtg or something similar. I keep telling him divination wizard would be the best bet, the spellbook can easily be his card box, preparing spells is setting up his deck, and the portent die can be "trap cards"
My favorite Divination dip abuse is Clockwork Soul 1 / Divination 2 / Bard X (Either Lore for reaction or Eloquence for bonus action) Halfling who takes Bountiful Luck, not Lucky. You are the party's good luck charm and the dice are always in your favor. This can also be boosted further with Stars Druid 6 but then you're sacrificing higher-level spells which not all will be cool with.
There are only 3 abilities that are arguably more powerful than portent: Arcane Abeyance[Just ignore concentration restrictions](Chronurgy Wizard 10), Convergent Furture[Can force a creature to roll negative number's and fail a roll they shouldnt be able to fail](Chronurgy Wizard 14), and Armor of Hexes[Just passively ignore half of everything that might hurt you](Hexblade Warlock 10). But level wize, it will always be Portent
Not sure how or why, but you gave me an idea for a well... an "F over the DM build" xD This mainly using Divination Wizard, but mix in a level of Clockwork Sorcerer (don't bother with Spells, just needing the Restore Balance Feature), then at least 6 levels of the Stars Druid (again, spells aren't a concern, we are just getting Cosmic Omen) With this, not only do we have all the DM f-ery of the Divination Wizard, but now Restore Balance will cancel any Advantage the DM ever gets and any Disadvantage the party ever gets. Then depending if your Cosmic Omen gives you Weal or Woe, you either use it to help out the party, or hinder the DM.

Don't knock Clairvoyance. It is effectively super vision (telescopic) and super hearing. Being able to spam it without spell slots is incredible. Now you can see or hear anything within 1 mile for at least 10 minutes. Combine this with an alarm spell and you have a RIng™ security system in D&D. I think diviner should be a different playstyle from the traditional evoker or abjurer one. Cookie cutter wizards are boring. And besides, with all your cheese (Lucky, spamable Silvery Barbs, Portent rolls) you can nullify anything cast at your party with needing to cast counterspell. And you still have slots and prepared spells to do the occasional counterspell or fireball. You forgot the mid-level ability of trading down spell slots by casting divination spells and keeping the remainder. [Edit: No, he didn't, my bad.] So you will be casting clairvoyance and arcane eye and scry and possibly contact other plane (if you rolled a great portent that morning). These are all very useful spells that most wizards will agonize over casting because the opportunity cost of losing a spell slot for it. Diviners just trade down. I expect more lower level spell slots (for silvery barbs, am I right?) as I use my higher level slots for more and better information.
Combine clairvoyance with the Observant feat and you can read lips from 1 mile away. (And observant is a half feat for +1 to Int or Wis) Spamming divination spells is awesome which is why warlocks get eldritch sight as one of their invocations. If you've never seen a warlock abuse detect magic to have it up at all times, you've missed out.
i am thinking of doing either a echoknight primary/divination wizard secondary class to fit into the theme of a guy who looks into all the different timelines including timelines the exact same as his but set in the future who uses this both as a form of precognition AND attack as he summons alternate versions of himself to fight alongside himself with maybe some fun madness risk thrown in as some rp of 'the voices of his other worlds screaming out warnings about the future or even dying or just constantly being always audible to the echoknight leaves him at risk of madness due to the sheer overwhelming flow of information that could prevent him from being about with the echoknight having to question who HE is and WHERE he is and WHAT he was doing and WHAT has happened and WHEN, a nd what WILL happen for HIM and not the other versions of himself while he also grapples with his mind being fuzed to both an infinite number of himselves including versions that have already lost t heir tether to reality and don't care anymore and simply see all of their reality as a game for them to play in and with as they see fit with a murderous bloodlust cause killing is the only thing that makes their own realities simpler and quieter and so why not kill all these non existant entities that exist and dont with than a bulwark of other versions of himselves steeling themselves together trying to share their own mind of who THEY are or WERE as they refuse to give into that apathetic lack of care for all of reality with not only a constantly present pull ot being themselves strongly but also a murderous killer with all presentations of themselves being 100% who they ARE or WERE or COULD BE with no true delineation between what is and isnt real anymore.
Aside from the jaded trope of a lucky halfiling divination wizard, I don't think most tables run or even allow silvery barbs. good informative video though.

Honestly, I always found Portent to be overrated. It's GOOD, because guaranteeing a result is always good. I just don't think it's the godly ability people keep saying it is. The first and foremost reason being that it doesn't work the way you say it does in the video: Despite the wording of the feat, you cannot actually just REPLACE any die roll that was made. You have to say you are using Portent BEFORE the dice get rolled. Which also means that your uppity, excited party member may have rolled too quickly before you could say you were using your Portent for them. After that, the DM does have a right to say no. But the other reasons are: 1. Easily the most minor limitation: You can only use it once per turn, which means no saving more than one attack or sabotaging more than one saving throw for a single creature, and you can only protect your party member from one of those Multiattacks. This usually isn't a big deal, especially not at lower levels where the players aren't doing much anyway though. 2. You have to be able to see your target. If your party member is inside a Fog Cloud or Darkness, Portent can't help them. If they're a Rogue that used their Cunning Action to Hide so that they can get advantage on their next turn, you might not be able to see them either. If an attack is COMING from a hidden creature, you can't replace that one either. If they're invisible, also no, even if you know where they are. 3. Not really a limitation per se, but: Remember that they're not all going to be high and low. What if you roll middling numbers? You have no idea where using those would even be useful. Attack rolls are the most likely answer, but your character shouldn't know what the stats are of a monster, so if you use an 11, maybe they'll still be able to hit that rogue's low AC with that attack roll. Or with an 8, maybe they'll still be able to make that DC15 save.
Portent die + Silvery Bards + Lucky feat + Halfling reroll 1 (works on Portent die but why would you do that?) + Clockwork Sorcerer ^ This combo makes you the DM Puppeteer :D
As much as I dislike the feat as a whole, I would honestly just say that Lucky feels very fitting for a Divination Wizard. I mean look if your whole subclass is based on giving the finger to dice rolls, why not go all the way

If you have dragonlance material, adept of the white robes is pretty solid with the expert divination at lvl 6

Honestly, I always found Portent to be overrated. It's GOOD, because guaranteeing a result is always good. I just don't think it's the godly ability people keep saying it is. The first and foremost reason being that it doesn't work the way you say it does in the video: Despite the wording of the feat, you cannot actually just REPLACE any die roll that was made. You have to say you are using Portent BEFORE the dice get rolled. Which also means that your uppity, excited party member may have rolled too quickly before you could say you were using your Portent for them. After that, the DM does have a right to say no. But the other reasons are:
1. Easily the most minor limitation: You can only use it once per turn, which means no saving more than one attack or sabotaging more than one saving throw for a single creature, and you can only protect your party member from one of those Multiattacks. This usually isn't a big deal, especially not at lower levels where the players aren't doing much anyway though.
2. You have to be able to see your target. If your party member is inside a Fog Cloud or Darkness, Portent can't help them. If they're a Rogue that used their Cunning Action to Hide so that they can get advantage on their next turn, you might not be able to see them either. If an attack is COMING from a hidden creature, you can't replace that one either. If they're invisible, also no, even if you know where they are.
3. Not really a limitation per se, but: Remember that they're not all going to be high and low. What if you roll middling numbers? You have no idea where using those would even be useful. Attack rolls are the most likely answer, but your character shouldn't know what the stats are of a monster, so if you use an 11, maybe they'll still be able to hit that rogue's low AC with that attack roll. Or with an 8, maybe they'll still be able to make that DC15 save.

As much as I dislike the feat as a whole, I would honestly just say that Lucky feels very fitting for a Divination Wizard.
I mean look if your whole subclass is based on giving the finger to dice rolls, why not go all the way
