There's more track car builds on youtube than OEM+ ones. Besides it's harder and harder to find nice looking original E36 on the road so I would rather see it done this way.
OEM + build >> track/slammed build
E36 is getting rare to find a good example.
I would spend the time and money and put it back to OEM+

Oem + for me. Upgrade brakes, engine etc. Keep the interior classy but have a bit of fun with it. Its your car it doesn't need to be 100% oem. Where you think you should come away then so it. Track cars are overdone imo and at least you will end up with a car that's easy to enjoy daily
Club sport spec 1000%. Especially as you can revert back to oem+ at anytime!

You’ve got what looks like a fairly good body and structure so I’d go OEM+ look, that way I don’t think you be to out of pocket too much if you sold it in the end as long as you put the dedication in.

I’m building my e36 at the same time, it’s a hard choice but I think I’m gonna have to say go for club sport as you get the best of both worlds, probably what I’ll do too😂
Combo mate - add everything you’d do for track spec without compromising dailiability* and oemspecness* it’s way more interesting seeing basically what a DIY CSL would be than a fully stripped out project… Do what the engineers would’ve wanted to sell.

Both the back and squab of the driver and passenger seat leather on E36s can be swapped so you have the wear on the passenger side and an almost new driver seat. Can be done with regular and sports seats
OEM+ spec! I love this car.
Here's what I would do:
BC Coilovers
Recaro Polepositions in leather
Bolt in rollcage
No rear seats, but instead custom panels of sound deadening with fabric trim
No LTW wing, it's over done
Style 39 DS2 wheels or Style 42s
OEM headlights with ambers
MTech 2 steering wheel
Born to Drift shifter
Keep the do cards
Don't flock the dash
BDS tune
LSD
330 Front brakes
PolyBushed all round.

Sounds like your minds made up already but defo OEM+.
There aren't many nice e36s left they've either been raced or drifted.
Genuine OEM+ build
OEM+ for a car like thsi would be best, seen a lot of tuned up stripped out E36s and rarely come across orgiinal cars, this cars in fairly good condition think its worth keeping it OEM and then add a few modern touches to make it feel newer inside, new wheel, better infortainment etc, you could make it an OEM sleeper type thing where its tuned up but looks stock, would be cool
other obvious + items such as suspension, brakes, few exterior mods but nothing crazy to make it look like a different car

Next time that you need to take off your rocker cover to repair it and clean it or change your spark plugs why don't you contact co part for some BMW parts for your car

When you pop the bead use wd40 or similar to make pulling the tyre off easier.
Clubsport/Track spec, non reversible lol, it will be a beast and definitely one of the best track cars for the money, you see these things hanging onto supercars on the nurburgring, would be an epic series. flocked dash, rollcage, maybe even a turbo conversion or engine swap? go all out I'm sure youll love this and so will your viewers :P

i would say do track spec mate. i’m in the process of turning my bmw e46 project car into a track/show car. can’t go wrong with making a car your own. great purchase on the e36 btw can’t wait too see more

Should replace the steering wheel with an original one. Unless you going to be taking it to the track, it would be safer to have the original with the airbag
