    Drawing the cross on the score as seen at the end of this clip is a reference to an actual event where Dmitri Mitropoulos fell dead on the podium while conducting a rehearsal of Mahler's 3rd symphony. A cellist noted the moment and marked a cross on his part where it happened.

    i love this scene as it showed everything lydia held dear fall out of her control. she mentions in the julliard scene that the artist and art can and should be separated - that one could be an unethical person yet their art can still be admired. but in this scene, her art is essentially usurped from her, giving neither the art or the artist the recognition that she wants

    I love how it’s made to look like Lydia is pushing herself off the podium. She’s both the aggressor and (if you look closely) the victim of the push. Amazing cinematography that captures her self-sabotage.

      It was her score. But its being performed by someone else because of the shitstorm surrounding Lydia at this point in the film. No one wants to associate with her after the things that came out about her, so it is being performed by someone else.

      She did, but I don't think it was considered stolen but rather they wanted someone else to perform it because of the stain on Lydias character by this point in the film. I believe her and her wife were separated at this point in the movie as well if I remember rightly so she had no reason to tell her.

      Oscars aren't won they're campaigned and pandered for. Hollywood SAG and Oscars stroked all four A24 actors because of irrelevant narrative over ages of 50s and 60s, comebacks or lifetime achievement. Blanchett won 10 more awards than Michelle Yeoh all season, including Critics Choice and the UK Oscar equivalent British Academy BAFTA

      Yes he did. He even told her he had tried multiple times to persuade Francesca to let him spy on Lydia’s notations.
      Then, Francesca left and Lydia’s score was missing at home. Surprisingly or not, Eliot was performing it at the main event

    There’s so many ideas happening in this movie at once and it’s a shame the director couldn’t just slow his roll and execute the climactic scene like this one with more sense. Idk it’s great performances but I feel confused about so much but maybe I’m just an idiot. I’m sure the filmmakers would think so

Whereas other movies try to envoke Love, hatred or excitement, this movie envokes disgust. I hated watching it in the beginning but then realized this was not what I thought it was. Worth a watch? If you have spare time, definetely.
