I am loving all of your frequent uploads. It's really keeping me motivated and encouraged in my Zone 9 garden. Thank you for putting in the hard work and being HONEST about the imperfections and setbacks that come with URBAN HOMESTEADING.
Awww I'm happy to hear you are enjoying them! I'm having a great time making them. Glad to help, I'm always going to keep it honest. I think it helps others to know exactly what's going on the homestead. I really appreciate your comment!
Not sure if you want to, but during the winter I like to feed the worms veg kitchen scraps (just bury it like 6") so they'll "fertilize" my soil for me. Tried in 1 of 4 beds last winter and it helped. Gonna try with all of them once the collards die back in Dec.
Oh the ratio is easy. You got this. If it’s 1:5 ratio that means 1 cup of comfrey water to 5 cups to water. You can also do 1 tablespoon of comfrey water to 5 tablespoons to water. See easy. 😊
Hi Asia, enjoyed the video and seeing the beautiful fall color starting to appear. I planted a little bit of lemon balm in my backyard flower garden a few years ago, and I now find it in the front yard, side yards and everywhere !
Hello, I'm a new subscriber and you had my interest from start to finish having me looking twice at my back yard. Now want to watch how you got started. Feeling encouraged. Thanks so much. 👱🏽❤️🤗
Shalom Ms. Asia, once nice to see you. Your garden looks absolutely gorgeous and delicious. I do remember how the greens looked before you started to revive them. Good job👍🏼😊. Your chickens, though maybe she don't got enough work, let's give her some more..lol. However, your garden looks good. Thank you for the info. Have yourself a beautiful blessed day 😊. Btw,if you remember I'm in California High Desert and how hot it was, well know it is down to 43degs😳. It's cold now. Well, you have a blessed week.
Maybe this will help with your ratios. If it calls for a 1:5 ratio, they are saying: if you are using 1cup of fertilizer then dilute with 5 cups of water…praying for your understanding Sis🙏🏽. Love your channel, you are one of the reasons that I started my garden on my back deck so good luck and God bless
I enjoy watching your channel so much! As a new gardener, it is encouraging and helpful to see how high work through your garden bouncing back from pest pressure. Thank you!!
Chickens can clean a space FAST!! Unfortunately I’m talking from experience so now I let them clean the garden in the winter and it is spotless. I wish they did houses!🤪I’m envious of your greenhouse-so nice!
Loving the increase in videos! I am also attempting to overwinter 3 eggplants as well as peppers this winter. Crossing my fingers they don't get neglected and die a slow death this year 😂 You inspire me so I'm going to try really hard 😊
Awww I'm happy to hear that. I'm really enjoying being able to share more. O ok, nice! We are praying the same prayer LOL. Good luck and happy overwintering!
I love strolling along with you in your garden! I have some Morris Heading collards that some caterpillar got into. I think it’s gone now but I also am fighting aphids!! But I’m trying to take your “It’s going to be ok” attitude 😊 On a funny note, I keep checking my phone when I watch your video because I think there’s someone at my door when I hear the Ring tone 😅 Have a wonderful day.
Hi Asia! I ordered comfrey from the medicinal link you provided in your previous video. Hope you're getting or may get commissioned. Any who, you inspire me. I'm zone 9a in the Boot and pest pressure is still a major problem. Because of you, Imma wait it out to see what my plants do. Keep teaching and inspiring!
Hi! Ok, awesome! I don't, I just figured I would share what I found. Awww I'm happy to hear that. I hope they bounce back and give you an amazing harvest! Will do, thank you for the support!
When you do the meet and greet can you give us who live out of the state some type of notice because I would definitely love to meet you and talk to you and pick your ear about gardening and life?
Thanks for sharing your urban garden update and glad you’re plants are growing well and sorry about your other plants from the chickens including there cage. I know the chicken cage will be fixed soon.
Hey! I love your videos! Have you ever heard of walking onions? They are awesome! I have them and no store around here in south Carolina has them.. had to order online..
I use stinging nettles everyday in tea cause I have a bad thyroid. My husband drinks it as well and his hair on his head that he hasn’t had in years is growing back😮 when it stings it stings for at least 10 mins or so😂 love nettles but it is like mint and spreads❤ hope your daughters fingers are healing love watching your videos 🪴🥰🙏
O ok! Happy to hear you are seeing the benefits. I haven't used any yet but I definitely plan to! LOL, yes it does! I have heard it spreads. I may have to put it in a pot because I have it in a pretty small bed. Awww thank you, it is healing slowly but it's getting better. I tried to use comfrey oil on it but everything I told her to let me know if she was feeling she apparently felt LOL! Awww thank you!
I know Lemon Balm is in the mint family but I have had it in the ground for 2 years now and it hasn’t spread. I don’t think its like mint in the way it spreads. It gets broad (as you a can see) but stays within its little home that I have in full sun.
Will nasturtium grow all through the winter. I have some seeds and I like flowers but I forget by the time I remember it’s disrespectful Hot in Atlanta 😊 You have flowers and vegetables together and I have a small space on the side of my apartment I’d like to add a few if you think it would work? Anyone know about zone 8 😊
I have a question about your Roselle , is it a perinial? Or do you plant it new each year? I love watching your videos on break at work, your ring chime cracks me up everytime!
The roselle will die in my area once we get our first freeze. I'll have to plant it again next spring. Lol thank you, we live on a busy street and the ring alerts me for every car unless I silence it.
Can't wait to see how the comfrey tea fertilizer works out! I saw on another channel that someone used weeds and dandelions and made the same fertilizer tea and it worked really well. 🥬

@@YellowDoorUrbanHomesteadI got your back 😊 we all need a little explanation sometimes. 💛
I think I have a maths allergy 😂 and this is the way.
Thank you so much for this! Now it makes sense 😂 I was challenged in that math area too!😂😂

I used weeds and leaves from the garden plants for fertilizer.
Awesome! I'm definitely going to give it a try next year!

Hi. ❤ your garden & personality. Kohlrabi 😊
Thanks for sharing. I'm enjoying your content❤
Thanks so much for all that you do! You have motivated me to start my garden channel on youtube as well! I am growing in Alabama, zone 8B.
Asia I would like to suggest that maybe a large dog kennel can be used as a chicken coop. It cost about $250.00. It's 4x8x6 ft.

Mix broccoli and Brussel sprouts leaves with your collards when you cook them.😊❤❤

You can split the lemon balm plant in the spring and place it in another pot.
Ahhh that make sense! Thank you! I will do that in the fall!

Mine did spread so I had to put in pot
O ok, I'm just going to be safe since I don't have a lot of space. I appreciate the comment!
I loved the tour. I have got to get some comfrey plants for the spring. If anyone has a suggestion, please share it.
Thank you! I posted a link in my community section. Strictly Medicinal Herbs sells and ships the root all year round.
@@YellowDoorUrbanHomestead Thank you, Asia.
❤❤❤
Love the channel
Awwww thank you!
Ratio can be intimidating
First side on a one to three?
One cup (1:3) of concentrate
Three cup s. Of water
Hey Asia ❤

I have comfrey roots soaking to use as a fertilizer. I couldn't find comfrey 🍃 leafs ...I hope this still works 🤔
The root can be used medicinally so I don't see why it would be a good option for fertilizing. I haven't tried it though. It's just my thought lol
@@YellowDoorUrbanHomestead Great. Thanks!
Did you get your straw animals?? 😊
Hey queen 👑 how can i share the progress of my indoor food garden
I have a question about your Roselle , is it a perinial? Or do you plant it new each year? I love watching your videos on break at work, your ring chime cracks me up everytime!
It is perennial if you don't have frost
I grew it in zone 8 . Doesn’t bloom until October so I was only able to harvest a little before frost killed it 😢
The roselle will die in my area once we get our first freeze. I'll have to plant it again next spring. Lol thank you, we live on a busy street and the ring alerts me for every car unless I silence it.
I believe that's what is going to happen to me this year too.
Heyyy Asia!🥰 What do you fertilize your carrots with?
Hey! I am using the comfrey tea this year so far.
Are you sure you didn't plant purple lady bokchoy
Yeah I'm sure. It was a regular variety. I have a few other seedlings that have a purple tint as well.
The bootstrap pot that you’re going to overwinter in, is it 5 inch?
I’m not sure. I’ll check. The pots were apart of the bundle.
@ okie dokie 😃
Did you grow St. John’s from seed or but the start I’ve been trying to grow it with no success
Yes, I started the St. John's Wort from seed earlier this year.
@ I can’t get it to germinate wat so ever
Late watching 👀 😂 💛 🚪 🍄🌽🌶🥑🍆🍒🫐🥕🥔🥦
Lol, no worries! Thanks for watching!
