correct me if im wrong, on the days you dont want to deal with any problems you pick to ride the ski doo, and when you want the precision you pick the polaris? (or atleast on the boosts)
My thoughts on the Doo 146's blowing belts is they are on the pipe all day. It's great to have that kind of track speed but lets face it, your in deep snow with lots of vertical. This is why they engineered longer tracked sleds to do this kind of work. At least nobody is complaining that the Doo's are flawed yet, but I'm sure there motor life is going to be drastically reduced too trying to make them operate in those type of conditions and doing the work of longer tracked/lugged configurations. They are fun to watch though!
Also, if you broke in the belt instead of putting it on and wide open right away on the mountain, most belt companies want 40km to 50km of break in. I don't know all the engineering and reasons behind it, but there must be a reason they say no full throttle for the break-in duration. Put your spare belt on when you leave the truck and break it in going up the trail and switch back before you hit the powder, bit of a pain but that way when you do need it and have to ride hard right away it's already broke in and should last more then 75km.
500 for the quick drive belt is ridiculous. The chain case may be a bit heavier but rarely fail. Ive never had an issue in 30+ years. Polaris makes the best chassis but skidoo makes the best 2 stroke engines.
My spare belt holder fell off the other day and stayed on my pipe melted a hole threw and started to burn some of the belt, lucky it dint cause fire becarful with that
Seems a lot of people warming food on the quick drive side, taking a chance getting debris in that belt, I'm surprised polaris doesn't make a plastic cover for that belt gear system? Couldn't weigh that much.
Matt, why don't you always use the finger throttle anymore ? The 9R may be lighter to ride compared to the Boost, but when you get stuck more often it evens out, right ? LOL
Matt, how many miles do you actually travel (gps) versus what the track/display experiences. In powder you’re basically spinning the tires. I’m super curious…I actually haven’t seen any information on this.
So this year I’m seeing you seem to not be running the Munster finger throttle on your sleds. Is there a reason for that? Even in this video you have the finger throttle rotated to be used as a thumb.
@mikehd3904 the 154 and 65 sleds are fine... even 146NA... but the 146T is busting at 300km in exact same conditions. Proper break in goes a long way.. I get 1500 to 2000km but I pre break in my belts

NA power is more impressive to me for sure, but I come from an automotive background. It's easy to make power with a turbo....not so much being NA.
That 9R does not move and just trenches till it’s stuck. Or it’s the snow lol. Would be a good sled here in michigan though..

In 75km through? This was the first pull of the day and only a 40 second pull from where Hugo left the trail.
Back in the good ol days, 240hp, 1ton, 4 strokes would get 1500-2000km out of a belt easy. 75-300km?! garbage.

Matt put the slp twin pipe kit on it you will love it I loved mine on my 850
Is the old 2001 summit 800 out there?
Rumor has it skidoo only used 3 motor mounts instead of 4 which is causing all the belts blowing prematurely. Supposedly switching them up on the 25's
