    My wife was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's in December of 2023 (she was 58 years old). Her MoCA score was a 14. In July of 2024 we went on the carnivore diet, along with many other lifestyle changes (i.e. MCT oil c8 & c10). In December of 2024 her MoCA score went up to a 24! There is hope!

    Thank you dr Perlmutter for this interview. Another gain for the ketogenic approach out of countless many! Would have liked to hear more in depth discussion of the results of the research, for the audience to understand better how it plays out for the Parkinson's disease patient.

    Thank you so much for this video and information. I’m a PWP and my neurologist could care less about new information discovered by “the ship out of Harbor.” However, I am committed to diet and exercise and other alt therapies, and I press on with whatever information I can find. Many thanks.

    As someone who was recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s in my 30s, I’m looking forward to testing out this diet to see if it works. I just finished your book grain brain and it was an eye-opener for me. I’m looking forward to seeing some positive results and eventually overcoming this disease.

      It works. I have three neurologists I visit regularly, and, none believes me when I say my most effective Parkinson’s intervention is fasting for 7 days, every month, and, at the very least, once every three months. Nor do any of them believe me when I tell them my second most effective intervention is a carnivore diet.

    Dr P, is there any way to contact Dr Phillips? I was curious if he ( or you) know of any research on Fasting and PD? It seems like autophagy might be a way to help remove the protein build up and dysfunctional mitochondria.

    Do we have study on improving cognitive function for students on keto diet compared with Standard American Diet?
    Can we say that students who are on ketogenic diet will be more intelligent?

    Any stroke survivors out there who practiced prolonged fasting? Wanna know your results

      Hi Ryan - I know of a few. But I have not performed a clinical trial of fasting in stroke (I'd like to someday, but let's see). Very best, Matt.

    my mom is living with LBD which is often described as parkinsons like dementia - in that the non motor symptoms appear first and the rem sleep behaviour disorder and hallucinations are worse then the occassional shakes - thank you for doing this research. I have PTSD + OSA and all the slew of biological changes and dysfunction . I recently got interested in the lower levels of orexin a in the CSF of PTSD sufferes and the possible impact that has on brown versus white fat formation given that obesity is ahuge issue for PTSD sufferers. There is an orexin a nasal spray for narcolepsy which has no/low orexin a but I wonder if the trauma related obesity epidemic could be addressed somewhat by dietry increase of orexin a, I am looking into T 3 and reverse T3 dysfunction but drs are out on that and while I can get T3 supplements to "help" antidpressents an endicrinologist is unlikely to give T3 becaue ho a high T3 versus free T3 ratio. Any help with diet for PTSD - not to lose weight but to improve the dysfunction which contributes to continuous weight gain in spite of diet and exercise

    • @anitacole9731
      @anitacole9731 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      also any neurologist you can recommend in Brisbane who is interested in PTSD and diet? I don't think T3 issues can be addressed by diet because T 3 and reverse T 3 is made from T4 and PTSD people do not typically have T4 level issues indicating the issues in not at the thyroid.

      I use a therapeutic keto diet (GKI 1-3) for advanced dementia that stopped responding to memantine. As a side benefit, it's improved a host of other disorders: narcolepsy, PTSD, thyroid, and depression. I cannot comment on the chemistry, but I have my life back with the diet. I recognize my kids, can go for walks again, and am able to engage in activities I love! The improvement in PTSD shocked me... better than any medication or other intervention.

    Did you give your patients the coconut oil called Carrington Farms Liquid organic coconut oil as a supplement in the keto study?

    Is A.L.S. similar to Parkinson's? I believe it is a disease of the nervous system, so I'm curious if the ketogenic diet would also be helpful.
